The Frenchman was speaking after Arsenal's 2-0 win over Newcastle United at the Emirates, a victory that sent them above Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur into third position.
And he revealed that it was exactly the sort of game he was expecting, saying: "It was a big game tonight, we knew it was going to be a tough game. We listened to the coach, he said we were going to have to be patient and we did that."
But the big news for Arsenal fans after the match was the growing chances of a Champions League qualification spot after an impressive debut season for manager Unai Emery, and Lacazette told Sky Sports that there is a tangible difference to the atmosphere around the club since the departure of Arsene Wenger.
I can feel the difference from last season. Now we can maybe go to the Champions League and we will push as much as possible to win third place. I think we are more confident and everybody knows what they need to do. And when you win a lot of games in a row of course you have confidence.
With five matches away from home there is still work to do for Arsenal in the race for the top four, but Lacazette assured fans that the players will do all they can to achieve the goal, saying: "I’m not confident (of qualifying for the Champions League), but we work every day for this third place and we will do everything we can to get it."
