That's it, full time. Cardiff pull of a victory that is completely justified. They cared more and they tried harder, and they were simply better. United earned their boos, for what was another abominable performance. They need to move on and rebuild, but the chances of that seem slim.
United fans leave the ground, with empty seats growing.
Pogba hits the wall, Valencia hits the rebound into the crowd.
Pogba, Gomes and Lingard step around the free kick and treat it with a seriousness they should have treated the whole match.
Pogba cleverly releases Rashord, and Morrison lunges in late on the striker to curtail his attack. He gets a booking.
Greenwood finds Gomes outside the box, and he tries to bend a shot on target, but it goes well high and wide of the top corner.
United's players just don't want to be here, and not only that, don't mind showing the fnas that.
Greenwood can't quite reach a Rashford cross from the right.
Here's some more still life.
Lingard drives into the box on the inside right, makes space ahead of himsel with a burst of pace, and he drags his shot wide of the post.
This would - will - be United's eighth defeat in 12 matches.
- OffNathaniel Mendez-LaingCardiff City
- OnJunior HoilettCardiff City
Hoilett on for Mendez-Laing.
Rashford skips into the box and curls a shot just over the top corner.
Cardiff are keeping United at arm's length. Sitting back, keeping their shape, watching their opponent's complete and utter mental disintegration.
- OffKenneth ZohoreCardiff City
- OnDanny WardCardiff City
And here is Danny Ward.
- OffAndreas PereiraManchester United
- OnAngel GomesManchester United
Gomes on for another last-day appearance.
- OffDiogo DalotManchester United
- OnAntonio ValenciaManchester United
Valencia is on for Dalot.
Greenwood had another chance, but can't quite finish it. He's done well today, but hasn't converted one yet.
- Yellow cardJesse LingardManchester United
Lingard booked for tripping Murphy on the right wing.
Cardiff sit back, but United are at their most toothless until Pogba drills in a shot from a tight angle that forces Etheridge to tip his rising effort away.
Warnock puts some lip balm on.
A nice photie.
Can Cardiff grab one, two or three more now?
Etheridge sends it long to Reid, who pulls it out of the air well, and is given absolutely no trouble from the defence, so he wallops a shot at goal that De Gea moves across speedily to stop.
- OffAron GunnarssonCardiff City
- OnJazz RichardsCardiff City
And confirmation of an earlier Cardiff sub.
- Yellow cardJosh MurphyCardiff City
- Yellow cardPaul PogbaManchester United
Pogba hoiks Murphy to the ground after he wastes time, stopping United taking a throw, and it's yellows all around.
Martial fires in a long-range shot that wobbles a touch, and Etheridge punches it behind for a corner.
Rashford thunders in a header that Etheridge reaches well with a smart dart to his right. As good a save as it was, it would have been ruled offside for Greenwood getting in his line of sight.
The fans are emphatically not keen on events.
- GoalNathaniel Mendez-LaingCardiff City
GOAL! Manchester United 0-2 Cardiff City. Mendez-Laing scores - A long through is totally missed by McTominay, Murphy runs onto the ball in the box and he squares it for Mendez-Laing at the back post to tap in.
Rashford finds Pereira on the overlap, but the pass to him is too heavy and out for a goal kick.
Ecuele Manga concedes an obvious corner that the assistant referee and referee just don't bother awarding.
Pogba slips in Martial with an excellent through ball, and he goes to ground after Morrison shoves him to the ground. It could have been a red, probably a yellow, but John Moss embraces wrongness and just totally ignores it. Well done!
Martila bursts forward, swaps passes with Rashford, and the last pass almost puts Rashford behind the defence in the box, but is intercepted.
Dalot slips as he sends in a shot from distance that is firmly struck, but sails clearly over.
- 2nd Half
The match gets underway. With Jones off, Martial will add more attacking impetus to United, they would hope.
- OffPhil JonesManchester United
- OnAnthony MartialManchester United
Anthony Martial is brought on.
That's half time. See you in 15 minutes.
A minute's added time is indicated.
Bennett sends in a high ball, and United get a goal kick through luck more than judgement.
- Yellow cardAndreas PereiraManchester United
Pereira booked for a foul on Mendez-Laing about 40 yards out.
Rashford chips pass to nobody in the box, and Etheridge is out to claim it.
Mendez-Laing plays a pass inside for Murphy, and he arcs a shot towards the top corner before De Gea palms it over the bar.
Free kick for Cardiff on the right wing. Jones makes it, but doubles over in pain in the box. He remains a fixture in the first team.
Pogba skips past three Cardiff players and towards goal, and he drills in a low effort that strikes Greenwood, raising the offside flag.
I think the United fans have run out of patience with their club and their players.
Phil Jones is struggling at the back with an injury of some kind. He's trudging about, making that new contract seem as bizarre as ever. He isn't feckless, but he has not improved in seven years and cannot stay fit.
Pogba is putting in a real Januzaj of a performance so far today. He loses the ball and ambles about, unfettered by reality.
Murphy blasts high and wide from distance after the defence sat off him and invited trouble.
The fans are already turning.
- Yellow cardLeandro BacunaCardiff City
Bacuna is booked for clipping Lingard on the inside left.
Greenwood darts down the left touchline before pulling the ball back for Pogba, and the midfielder can't get on the end of it.
This really is the most fetid end to a season I can remember from a United side.
- Goal by penaltyNathaniel Mendez-LaingCardiff City
GOAL! Manchester United 0-1 Cardiff City. Mendez Laing scores - The full-back fires home from the spot, and United continue to wallow in their self-made pit.
PENALTY! Dalot is penalised for a slide tackle on Mendez-Laing. It was a touch clumsy, but to be honest it looked like a fair challenge.
McTominay picks out Dalot on the right, but as he runs towards the box he also runs straight into two defenders, and that's it.
Find me a tweet that sums up Pogba so far.
Rashford wastes another good chance, reminding people that he is essentially still a kid with most of his talent yet to be unlocked.
Rashford drills a shot at goal from the edge of the box, whipping it into Etheridge's arms.
Pereira loops a ball over the top for Greenwood, but his header is put behind by Etheridge for a corner on the left wing. The best chance of the half so far.
The United Twitter account is gearing up.
Pereira has another shot from outside the box. It's better hit than his first effort, but this time straight at Etheridge, who claims the ball easily enough.
Cardiff are having a decent spell now, with most of the ball in United's half.
Dalot plays in a low cross to the near post for Greenwood, who stoops to head back towards, and over, the goal.
Pereira cuts onto his left, moves to the middle and from the edge of the box, has a low shot deflected just wide of the far post.
- 1st Half
The match gets underway.
Until he's back next time, here is Warnock before entering the limbo of the Championship.
Solskjaer spoke to MUTV about Greenwood, saying: "We have been waiting to play Mason. He's been training with us now for the last three or four months, he has been really good. I don’t think he will be fazed, he is not that type of player.”

Cardiff are down already.
To that end, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given Mason Greenwood the nod up front, and he has banished Ander Herrera from the whole squad. David de Gea and Paul Pogba both make, on balance, what is probably their last appearance for Manchester United.
The stakes don't get much bigger than this. That's right, Manchester United HAVE to win if they want to stand a chance of qualifying in fifth, but even then they will probably end up in sixth, and on their way to the Europa League qualifying games when they should be gladhanding in China. It is the stuff dreams are made of. Well, shareholders' dreams.
Cardiff City end the season still using the barely readable font they've persisted with for the 38 games.
Ander Herrera no longer exists.
