Mourinho will be pleased with that result and performance, and that will ease the pressure on him for the time being. Rashford and Dalot were the standout performers for United. They could have scored more than four, but this will boost the confidence of everyone at Old Trafford, even if Fulham were poor.

- End of 2nd Half
FULL TIME: Manchester United 4-1 Fulham
Woeful from Fred. The Brazilian burst into the opposition penalty area and should have passed out to Dalot, who was unmarked out wide. But he tries a backheel to nobody.
Man Utd now face a big week. They have Valencia away from home in the Champions League and then they will be up against Liverpool in the Premier League next weekend.
Just three minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the match.
This has been so much better from Man Utd. The draw away to Southampton last weekend looked to leave Mourinho hanging by a thread, but they have been better in their last two games.
Man Utd's season has been stop-start so far. The hope for Mourinho will be that his side can build on this and go on a winning run over the Christmas period. They have a lot of work to do.
Rashford was exceptional this afternoon. He contributed two assists in the first half and capped his performance with a goal before being replaced by McTominay. Impressive.
Should have been five! McTominay should have found the back of the net with his first touch! Dalot picked out the Scotland international with a cross, but his header was tame.
- OffMarcus RashfordManchester United
- OnScott McTominayManchester United
Mourinho makes his final change after the scoring of the fourth goal and it's McTominay who comes on.
- GoalMarcus RashfordManchester United
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Manchester United 4 (82 mins - Marcus Rashford) Fulham 1. It's four for United and it's Rashford who grabs the goal. His performance has warranted that, although Rico will feel that he should have made the stop at his near post. Rashford's curling strike was powerful, but it could have been saved.
Far too easy for Lukaku! The Belgian striker was allowed to stroll into the Fulham penalty area, the defence opened up for him, but the shot was straight at Rico in the Fulham goal.
Couldn't pick out Lukaku! Dalot beats his man at the byline and drives into the box. Lukaku was waiting for the cross in the six yard box, but the ball from Dalot was just too strong.
Here's a statistic for you - with that penalty goal from Fulham, Manchester United have conceded only two fewer league goals than they did over the course of the whole 2017/18 season.
This match has been a flip of the script Man Utd have read from in recent weeks. Of late, they have been poor in the first half and have found some form in the second half. Not today.
One wonders what Mourinho has made of this performance from his Man Utd team in this second half. Fulham have in fact been the better team since the restart. United have eased off.
- OffAndré SchürrleFulham
- OnIbrahima CisséFulham
And Fulham also make their final change, with Cisse coming off the bench for the away side.
- OffJesse LingardManchester United
- OnFredManchester United
Man Utd make another change and it's Brazilian midfielder Fred who comes on for the final 18 minutes.
Ranieri will be so disappointed with that. Fulham had only just given themselves a way back into the game and now they have been reduced to 10 men. You'd think that will be game over.
That was pretty harsh on Anguissa. There wasn't much in that. The Fulham midfielder appeared to win the ball in the tackle and there was no reaction from the player afterwards either.
- Red cardAndré Zambo AnguissaFulham
Fulham's lifeline didn't last long. Anguissa is shown a second yellow card after a challenge on Rashford. Down to 10 men.
Mourinho isn't happy with the award of that penalty kick, but replays show that the Manchester United manager didn't have much to complain about. It was a trip from Herrera.
- Goal by penaltyAboubakar KamaraFulham
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Manchester United 3 Fulham 1 (66 mins - Aboubakar Kamara pen). It was Kamara who was fouled in the box after a turn and it's the striker who tucks away the spot kick from 12 yards out. Fulham have given themselves a lifeline in this match. United have something to worry about now.
PENALTY KICK TO FULHAM! The visitors have the chance to pull one back from the spot after a trip from Herrera on Kamara.
I know it's been said a number of times over the course of this match already, but Dalot really looks the part for Manchester United in the right back position. Very dangerous. Great crosser.
Across the face! That's another wicked cross from Dalot, who found the 'corridor of uncertainty' with a low ball. But there was nobody in the middle to convert from close range. Mata was close.
Fulham have actually had 60% of the possession in this second half. They have had much more of the ball since the restart, but they aren't really doing much with it in the final third.
That was a sitter! That should have been a fourth United goal. Mata dribbles his way into the Fulham box, squares it for Herrera, who somehow drags his low shot wide of the gaping goal.
Of course, United are already struggling for bodies at the back. McTominay played as a centre back against Southampton last week simply because they have nobody else in that position!
- OffChris SmallingManchester United
- OnMarcos RojoManchester United
Hmmmm that will be a worry for Mourinho. Smalling seems to have picked up an injury and he walks down the tunnel after being replaced by Rojo. The Argentinean will get the last 30 minutes.
Looks like there is some activity down on the Manchester United bench. Rojo is the one getting to his feet. Is that down to an injury or does Mourinho just want to give him game time?
Maybe it's a little harsh to say that Fulham have thrown in the towel because they have been marginally better since the restart. They have seen more of the ball in the second half.
Apart from anything else, Man Utd don't have the defensive solidity to rest on their laurels. They conceded two goals to the worst team in the Premier League last weekend.
Man Utd's fans will surely want their team to make a statement here. They could rack up the scoreline against a Fulham team who look to have already thrown in the towel. They mustn't rest on their laurels.
Dalot has been excellent for Man Utd so far this afternoon. He has given the home side another dimension to their attack. He has been an outlet for them down the right all game long.
Rico makes the save! Not for the first time, Rashford cuts inside off the left wing and strikes at the Fulham goal, but the powerful effort was straight at Rico, who beats it away.
Somewhat surprising that Mitrovic was taken off at half time. The Serbian is Fulham's top scorer, but it could be that Ranieri will opt for a different sort of game plan in this half.
- OffTom CairneyFulham
- OnLuciano ViettoFulham
... and the second change sees Mitrovic come off to be replaced by Vietto.
- OffAleksandar MitrovicFulham
- OnAboubakar KamaraFulham
Ranieri has made a double change at the break, with Kamara coming on for Cairney...
- 2nd Half
The second half is under way! Man Utd have a 3-0 lead over Fulham in this Premier League fixture.

- End of 1st Half
HALF TIME: Manchester United 3-0 Fulham. What a difference a week makes. United are out of sight after an excellent first half showing here. Fulham, on the other hand, have been terrible.
That's Lukaku's first goal at Old Trafford since March. The Belgian striker has desperately needed that goal for some time. The criticism had been mounting on him in recent weeks.
- GoalRomelu LukakuManchester United
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Manchester United 3 (42 mins - Romelu Lukaku) Fulham 0. It's THREE! Man Utd are coasting and it's Lukaku who adds his name to the score sheet! Mata gets round the back of the Fulham defence, squares for the Belgian striker who has the simple task of finishing from close range.
The Old Trafford crowd have grown accustomed to booing off their team at half time, but there will be none of that here. Man Utd are in complete control and that is reflected in the scoreline.
It should be noted that Rashford's form has peaked in recent weeks. Man Utd have struggled, but Rashford has been a rare bright spot for them. He's playing well again here.
Rashford denied! That would have been a stunning strike from the forward. His freekick from 20 yards out was Ronaldo-esque, but Rico pulls off the save to prevent it from making it 3-0.
The two full backs, on both sides, are giving Fulham all kinds of problems. Dalot and Young have probably been the best players on the pitch for Man Utd in this first half so far.
There was nobody in the middle! Odoi got the better of Young down the right side, his ball into the middle wasn't a bad one, but there was nobody in a white shirt waiting for the cross.
Fulham have improved somewhat since Ranieri's appointment, but this is a throwback to the dark days. They have been dreadful. They have very little to show for the opening half hour.
- Yellow cardAndré Zambo AnguissaFulham
There's the first yellow card of the match and it's shown to Anguissa for felling Lingard.
The strange thing is that the tempo and intensity from Man Utd hasn't been that high, but Fulham are giving them so much space to exploit in the attacking areas. This could get ugly.
This has been much better from Man Utd in this half. They are two goals to the good and this looks it might be a stroll for Mourinho's men. We haven't said that often this season.
- GoalJuan MataManchester United
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Manchester United 2 (28 mins - Juan Mata) Fulham 0. There's a second for Man Utd and it's Mata who finds the back of the net this time! Rashford got down the left side, burst into the Fulham box, squared the ball for Mata, who met it first time and guided the finish into the bottom corner.
When you see Dalot playing like this, you have to wonder why he has played so few games this season? Sure, he has been injured for a spell, but he could have played more by now.
Fulham on the break! Sessegnon bursts down the left wing at pace, but Dalot tracked him all the way and make the sliding tackle. What's more, the ball came back off Sessegnon for a goal kick.
Man Utd have been on the front foot for the past 10 minutes or so. Mourinho must be encouraged by what he has seen early on. This is positive stuff from the home side.
Straight at De Gea! For the first time in the match, Mitrovic sets his sights on the United goal, but his shot was ultimately a tame one and De Gea has no problem making the save.
Dalot has been impressive in these opening 20 minutes, with the exception of that last effort. The Portuguese full back is a very good crosser of the ball and that is giving Fulham issues.
That was wild from Dalot. A Fulham header saw a corner kick land at the feet of the full back, but the Portuguese youngster skies his full volley over the bar. That was a tough one.
Young tried it again! Once again, the Man Utd left back cuts inside off the wing. This one looked more like a cross than a shot, but it was dangerous and Mawson makes the clearing header.
You wouldn't say that Man Utd have taken a grip of the game, it's still fairly even, but Fulham haven't looked very dangerous at all. They are struggling to mount attacking moves.
Fulham have yet to keep a clean sheet this season and they won't be keeping one this afternoon. That is the biggest problem that Ranieri must find a solution to as their new manager.
Man Utd have made a habit of starting poorly in games this season, but they have an early lead here. Now, can they build on that? Young's first goal for more than a year has put United ahead.
- GoalAshley YoungManchester United
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Manchester United 1 (13 mins - Ashley Young) Fulham 0. Man Utd have an early lead and it has come from an unlikely source! It's Young! The left back twists and turns and cuts inside before curling home a finish from about 15 yards out. That was a wonderful strike from Young! No stopping that.
Fulham win a corner kick, with Mitrovic picked out with the delivery. But the cross was a little too deep for the Serbian striker to do anything with and Smalling gets there before him.
Cross into the box! Dalot gets down the right side and whips a delivery into the penalty area, but Rico gathers it at the second attempt. Positive signs from the young full back.
Young is back at left back for United this afternoon. He has been playing at right back in recent weeks, but Portuguese youngster Dalot has been favoured in that position for this game.
Matic is another Man Utd player who hasn't been in the best form of late. The Serbian was better against Arsenal during the week, but he has been criticised for slowing down his team's play.
Not a good sign! There are already audible groans from the Man Utd support as Smalling bursts forward only to turn back and make the pass backwards. Frustration building just five minutes in.
It's been a scrappy start to the match here. Neither team has taken a grip of things in the early stages. Much of the play has been in the centre of the pitch, but passes have been few and far between.
Lukaku needs a big performance here. The Belgian has struggled for goals of late, even though he scored in the draw against Southampton last weekend. Criticism is starting to mount.
It really is a dismal day in the North West of England for this game. The pitch at Old Trafford should be slick. That sometimes makes for a better contest. Man Utd fans can hope...

Not long until kick off at Old Trafford. What sort of game do we expect this afternoon? Man Utd will be favourites, but they have been struggling of late. Do Fulham stand a decent chance?
Impact! Ranieri has made a difference since coming in as manager at Fulham. They have stopped conceding so many goals, but this afternoon will be a real test for the Cottagers.
No Pogba! Once again, the Frenchman is on the bench for Manchester United. Mata starts on the right side for the Old Trafford side, with Lukaku starting up front. He's not been in the best form recently.
Crucial! Man Utd come into this game on the back draws against Southampton last weekend and Arsenal during the week. Mourinho really needs a win from his side this afternoon.
