Full time! Newcastle are safe! Probably! That's an excellent first-half performance, and a better show of spirit to add a third in the second half. Southampton are probably going to stay up, but their witless defending cost them here, and it may cost them again.
Redmond's long-range strike flicks off Ki and over the bar. The corner from the left is headed out, and there are 90 seconds left.
Southampton are pressing to get one back...
Yoshida has a free header at the near post, and it almost gets in to Dubravka's right, but he gets down quickly to his right to beat away.
There are five minutes of added time indicated.
Southampton have had the guts ripped out of them now, so unless they fluke a second, this is over.
- GoalAyoze PérezNewcastle United
GOAL! Newcastle 3-1 Southampton. Perez scores - A cross from the right from Diame is headed into the air, Ritchie dives towards it, into the path of Perez, who diverts it out of the path of Gunn's dive, and that should win the game for Newcastle.
Dummett heads back a cross from Bertrand as Newcastle seem a bit desperate. It's headed out, again by Dummett. He has been so reliable today.
Just over 10 minutes to go, you'd think.
Newcastle have a free kick, 30 yards out. Rondon and Ritchie stand over it, and Rondon clatters it into Yoshida in the wall.

Hello, Shane Long.
Here are some #stats as Ings sends in a shot from the edge of the box, curling an effort way over.
Ings peels off at the back post, and the moment he slices a poor shot at goal, he's flagged offside.
Newcastle win a throw high up on the right. This could be a chance to keep the ball away from their goal for a while now, and start to relax.
Atsu blocks a clearance and chases it down. It's clearly out, but he whips in a cross before anyone notices. Bertrand clears, it's out to Hayden, and he blasts in a shot that Gunn tracks and beats it away.
Newcastle may have their backs to the wall for the rest of today. They have lost two players, both who were playing well.

Schar is down now, receiving treatment. He seems to have a knee problem.
Redmond collects Ward-Prowse's corner, he plays it back inside for Yoshida, who hooks a left-foot volley well over the bar.
Dubravka comes, then stops, and there's confusion in the box with Redmond closing in, and they somehow get it away for a corner on the right.
Newcastle fans are distressed.

- GoalMario LeminaSouthampton
GOAL! Newcastle 2-1 Southampton. Lemina scores - Redmond attacks down the right, looks up to his left and plays it inside for Lemina's run towards goal, and from outside the box he curls in a great effort that gives Dubravka no chance.
Lemina has the chance to fire in on goal from distance, but he scoops his shot well over the bar.
Newcastle keep the ball in defence, but Southampton press high up against them.
...and Southampton drop back. Almiron finds Ritchie, who plays it inside for Ki and he skids in a great shot that beats Gunn, and crashes against the post and back out.
Newcastle don't have much rhythm so far, but there's a chance of a counter now...
Ward-Prowse lines up a free kick, 30 yards out and centrally placed. He gets it up and over the wall, but it doesn't trouble Dubravka.
Armstrong is penalised for catching Manquillo, which seems a touch harsh, as he just stepped on his foot after releasing the ball.
Southampton win another corner as Bertrand forces a block from Schar. Dummett heads out at the near post. The ball is back in for Yoshida and he tumbles to the ground as he attempts to pull back the ball for a colleague.
Armstrong makes a burst to the touchline, and his dangerous pullback is put behind for a corner by Dummett. Yoshida meets the corner from the left, and he glances Ward-Prowse's header a yard wide.

Perez wins a free kick after carrying the ball forward before Bertrand and a couple of others set upon him. He's played well so far.
Hayden goes in late on Romeu in Southampton's half, and that breaks up a moment of pressure when Southampton couldn't string a pass together.
Five minutes left, with Yoshida the latest Southampton player to eff up, but they hold onto their 2-0 deficit.
Ritchie slips in Almiron after a Ward-Prowse mistake, and Almiron can't quite keep up with his skittering pace, and scuffs a cross that dribbles to Gunn.
Rondon - who has made look like a right plum with a great performance so far - pulls the ball out of the sky, and almost turns inside Yoshida before he is tackled in the box.
Corner on the right for Southampton, Schar meets it at the near post, and his header almost pings the ball inside the near post before Dubravka dives smartly to avert a crisis.
Nine Premier League goals for Perez makes it his best return in the competition for the club.
- GoalAyoze PérezNewcastle United
GOAL! Newcastle 2-0 Southampton. Perez scores - Rondon seizes on a loose ball on the left, he teases the defender as he approaches the box, and pings in a cross to the back post for Perez's late slide, and he directs it past Gunn. Make that three in two.

- GoalAyoze PérezNewcastle United
GOAL! Newcastle 1-0 Southampton. Perez scores - Dubravka launches a long ball forward, Yoshida sells short Hojbjerg allowing Hayden to steal in before finding the striker. He drives towards goal and fires in a low shot to the bottom corner.
Tempers are getting zesty now, as Almiron is again tripped, this time by Hojbjerg.
Newcastle are demanding a red card, and do so with such fervour that Benitez's assistant is told to do one. He's been sent away from the dugout.
- Yellow cardJames Ward-ProwseSouthampton
Dubravka falls as he flaps away a corner, and there's a booking for Ward-Prowse moments later. Almiron is smashed into by the midfielder as he was about to run into the Southampton haff with nobody in front of him but the goalkeeper.
Redmond beats the offside trap on the left, he stands up his man, squares it to Ward-Prowse, and Ritchie blocks his shot for a corner on the right.
Southampton know that not a great deal has happened.
Redmond attempts to bring down a high ball on the touchline, and he shows the touch of Jose Mourinho. Throw-in.
Dummett recovers to put Ings off his shot with the goal looming ahead of him. That's wasted chance.
Here's a couple of flags.
Perez goes past Bednarek on the right, and he attempted to find Almiron with a crossfield pass, with no success.
...and Perez brings down a rising Bertrand in the box as the defender looked to reach a high ball.
Southampton take their turn to keep the ball in defence, but they are soon crowded out...
Ward-Prowse tracks back to tackle Almiron, again pressing on the left.
Ki curls in the corner, and it is hooked away by Stephens, back to Ki. Ritchie is given the chance to cross, and it's headed out.
Rondon brilliantly plays on Almiron down the left wing, and after sprinting into the box he attempts a cross that Gunn has to slap away from going in.
Sims' poor play allows Almiron to rob him, it rolls to Ritchie, and he cuts inside before drilling in a low shot wide of the near post.
Dummett flights in a cross to the near post, flicked onto Perez, and he is closed down before he can get a shot away. Ritchie will take the corner on the right.
Bertrand sends it long down the left for Ings' run, but he's flagged offside.
Redmond collects a header out at the back post but he works the ball back to the defence.
Newcastle keep the ball in defence, until a Manquillo clearance is blocked for a throw-in.
Newcastle want a penalty after a ball is struck at Hojbjerg's arms - it probably should have been given, but it was a difficult choice to take.
- 1st Half
The match gets underway.
The players will be on the pitch shortly.
Ayoze Perez is certainly excited.
You can send me your serious thoughts and beliefs on Twitter, @lxndrnthrn.
Southampton start with Ings and Redmond in attack, and there is little else to say about this. The Southampton squad has been stripped for parts and it won't be long before Redmond leaves, you imagine, and then they will likely go down.
There has been speculation for much of the season that Benitez is considering his future at St James Park, and you can see why. There are players in his squad - like Salomon Rondon, Javier Manquillo, and Jonjo Shelvey, who are simply at the lower end of what is required.
Both of these sides are not quite safe yet, but a win for either should see them safe. In truth, a draw might be enough for both given the poor sides below them.
Here is the Southampton line-up.
Here is the Newcastle team.
