Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Tottenham Hotspur 4 (Wanyama 24, Moura 27, 87, 90+3) Huddersfield Town 0

Lucas Moura scored a hat-trick as Tottenham beat Huddersfield Town 4-0 at their new stadium to move third in the Premier League.

With one eye on Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final second-leg clash with Manchester City, Mauricio Pochettino made seven changes to his Spurs side.

The much-changed hosts deservedly broke the deadlock in the 24th minute when the strength of Fernando Llorente allowed the ball to run into the path of Victor Wanyama, who coolly rounded Ben Hamer to score.

Three minutes later, Spurs doubled their advantage through Moura's tight-angled finish after a surging run by the impressive Moussa Sissoko, as Huddersfield failed to live with the hosts.

After the start, Llorente struck the crossbar, while Christian Eriksen was denied by a post before Moura wrapped the game up with two lovely goals at the death. Eriksen was the architect for the first, drilling an excellent cross from the right which the Brazilian finished from 10 yards, and in stoppage-time he latched onto a beautiful through-pass from substitute Son Heung-Min to flash a spectacular effort past the helpless goalkeeper.

With all of their rivals still to play this weekend, the victory moves Tottenham into third place and sets them up perfectly for two matches with Pep Guardiola's side in the space of a week.

TALKING POINT

Lucas Moura steals the show: With Dele Alli injured, Harry Kane set to miss the rest of the season, and Son rested for Wednesday, Spurs needed a hero. Up stepped the Brazilian with a thrilling performance. The 26-year-old has had to remain patient in his bid for first-team football at Tottenham but he has never thrown his toys out of the pram and today, when he got another opportunity to impress, he grabbed it with both hands. His finishing was clinical, his direct running absorbing and his range of passing excellent.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Lucas Moura (Tottenham): The Brazilian is the first player to grab a hat-trick at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. This is a day he, nor the Spurs fans, will ever forget.
