Sergio Aguero scored the 13th hat-trick of his Manchester City career as the champions smashed Huddersfield Town 6-1.
David Silva, who was joined on the pitch before kick-off by his prematurely-born son Mateo, ran the show for Pep Guardiola's side as he tormented Huddersfield for just over an hour.
Silva capped off a masterful display by curling in an unstoppable free-kick, the first time he has scored directly from a free-kick in the Premier League.

Gabriel Jesus and an own goal completed the scoring for City while Huddersfield were lucky to get one on the board courtesy of a debut goal for Jon Gorenc Stankovic.
The champions were irresistible at times despite the absence of Kevin De Bruyne, with Benjamin Mendy providing a regular threat from the left, setting up Aguero for two of his goals.
The other part of the hat-trick came from a magnificent pass from the goalkeeper Ederson, launching it from a goal kick to get Aguero away before he lifted it over Ben Hamer.

City move top of the table with two wins from two while Huddersfield's second consecutive defeat sees them slip to the bottom of the league.

TALKING POINT

Sky's the limit for Manchester City and their incredible depth. City only added Riyad Mahrez this summer but they look even better and their depth is absolutely terrifying. Ilkay Gundogan and Mendy are both fully fit and it's clear to see what they bring to the team. Gundogan controls things in the middle of the park next to Fernandinho while Mendy's attacking threat down the left adds a totally different dimension.

This is a team that left Mahrez, Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling and Kyle Walker on the bench. De Bruyne is out injured, Fabian Delph didn't make the squad. It's absolutely remarkable and if Pep Guardiola can add more players to his squad from the academy like Phil Foden the depth is only going to increase. The injuries City suffered last season didn't get talked about too much, it's only when everyone is fully fit that you start to realise just how good this squad is.

MAN OF THE MATCH

David Silva (Manchester City): Aguero scored a hat-trick and he could have had more but the star of the show was Silva. The little magician was sublime on his 250th appearance for City and in the first half hour he tore Huddersfield to shreds. He moved all over the pitch, combining intricate passing with intelligent movement. His free-kick, so sweetly struck, was the icing on the cake. On such an important day for him personally, having Mateo on the pitch with him, Silva put in a performance for the ages.
