Sergio Aguero smashes hat-trick as Manchester City run riot against Huddersfield

Premier League, Etihad Stadium – Manchester City 6 (Aguero 25 35 75, Jesus 31, Silva 48, Kongolo 84 og) Huddersfield Town 1 (Gorenc-Stankovic 43)
Sergio Aguero scored the 13th hat-trick of his Manchester City career as the champions smashed Huddersfield Town 6-1.
David Silva, who was joined on the pitch before kick-off by his prematurely-born son Mateo, ran the show for Pep Guardiola's side as he tormented Huddersfield for just over an hour.
Silva capped off a masterful display by curling in an unstoppable free-kick, the first time he has scored directly from a free-kick in the Premier League.
Gabriel Jesus and an own goal completed the scoring for City while Huddersfield were lucky to get one on the board courtesy of a debut goal for Jon Gorenc Stankovic.
The champions were irresistible at times despite the absence of Kevin De Bruyne, with Benjamin Mendy providing a regular threat from the left, setting up Aguero for two of his goals.
The other part of the hat-trick came from a magnificent pass from the goalkeeper Ederson, launching it from a goal kick to get Aguero away before he lifted it over Ben Hamer.
City move top of the table with two wins from two while Huddersfield's second consecutive defeat sees them slip to the bottom of the league.
TALKING POINT
Sky's the limit for Manchester City and their incredible depth. City only added Riyad Mahrez this summer but they look even better and their depth is absolutely terrifying. Ilkay Gundogan and Mendy are both fully fit and it's clear to see what they bring to the team. Gundogan controls things in the middle of the park next to Fernandinho while Mendy's attacking threat down the left adds a totally different dimension.
This is a team that left Mahrez, Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling and Kyle Walker on the bench. De Bruyne is out injured, Fabian Delph didn't make the squad. It's absolutely remarkable and if Pep Guardiola can add more players to his squad from the academy like Phil Foden the depth is only going to increase. The injuries City suffered last season didn't get talked about too much, it's only when everyone is fully fit that you start to realise just how good this squad is.
MAN OF THE MATCH
David Silva (Manchester City): Aguero scored a hat-trick and he could have had more but the star of the show was Silva. The little magician was sublime on his 250th appearance for City and in the first half hour he tore Huddersfield to shreds. He moved all over the pitch, combining intricate passing with intelligent movement. His free-kick, so sweetly struck, was the icing on the cake. On such an important day for him personally, having Mateo on the pitch with him, Silva put in a performance for the ages.

KEY MOMENTS
25' - GOAL! City 1-0 Huddersfield (Aguero). Brilliant ball out from Ederson as he finds Aguero. The striker cuts back onto his left as Hamer comes charging out. From the outside of the box he dinks it over the keeper and defence. Superb. Wonderful from Ederson as well, that's an assist for him.
31' - GOAL! City 2-0 Huddersfield (Jesus). Brilliant from Benjamin Mendy as he beats one and powers forward from left-back. He plays a one-two with Jesus before a loose ball comes back to the Brazilian. He takes a touch and fires a low shot past Jesus with his left.
35' - GOAL! City 3-0 Huddersfield (Aguero). Mendy involved again as he gets free down the left. Hamer comes out to gather but he spills the ball and Aguero taps home for his second.
43' - GOAL! City 3-1 Huddersfield (Gorenc-Stankovic). City, and particularly John Stones, caught napping at a long throw and Stankovic finishes for a debut goal. They couldn't, could they?
48' - GOAL! City 4-1 Huddersfield (David Silva). Brilliant, absolutely brilliant! Silva runs in and curls an unstoppable effort into the top corner. Sublime, simply sublime.
75' - GOAL! City 5-1 Huddersfield (Aguero). He's got his hat-trick! It's another brilliant assist from Mendy. He gets down the left again and sends in a fizzing cross. Aguero does brilliantly to divert it home with the back of his heel. His 13th hat-trick for City.
85' - GOAL! City 6-1 Huddersfield (Kongolo og). Sane gets in on the act as he explodes down the left hand side. He tries to clip the ball over Hamer but the ball hits the keeper, goes into Kongolo and then into the net.
