Full Time

As easy a 1-0 win as you will get from City. Thanks for following the match with us.

After an Arsenal attack breaks down Jesus runs 60 yards with the ball before blasting high over the bar.

Bellerin goes into the book for a foul on Jesus who controlled brilliantly before flicking over Xhaka and around the Spanish full back before being brought down.

Ceballos comes on for Elneny. Not a game-changing substitution you wouldn't think.

David Luiz comes on for Rob Holding and it is a concussion substitution after the defender was collided into after a challenge from Cancelo.

Jesus gets the ball behind the Arsenal defence and plays inside to Cancelo who turns inside beautifully before curling with his outside of his right foot just wide of the far post.

Aubameyang crosses from the left flank and it reaches Saka but he slips after controlling the ball and can't get a shot on target.

Smith-Rowe and Lacazette come on for Pepe and Oedegaard. Should make Arsenal better these changes.

Very strange period of play. Cancelo miss-hits a crossfield ball and it loops towards Ederson who hacks it clear and Elneny is not that far away from a volley towards goal.

Rare near chance for Arsenal as Bellerin gets high up the field and puts a low ball into the box which City clear.

Leno justs comes out to deny Sterling after Holding misjudged a long ball.

The game really drifting into a nothing encounter. It should be dangerous for City but you feel Arsenal could play for five hours without scoring.

Cancelo fouled for a late push on Tierney in an aerial contest.

Jesus comes on for De Bruyne. Very much a planned change you'd think. KDB might come on at a similar time in midweek.

You can't really argue with this trollish pre-game post really on this performance.

It is hard to see Arsenal getting back into this. I suppose Smith-Rowe may open up play if he comes on.

Good stop from Leno, stopping his international team-mate Gundogan's curling low effort from the edge of the box.

De Bruyne puts through Gundogan but Holding slides in putting him off with the Gunners defender narrowly avoiding handling the ball.

Xhaka also gets a yellow card, a foul on Sterling his offence.

Bernardo Silva picks up a yellow card for a cynical foul stopping Saka moving on a counter attack.

Lovely effort from De Bruyne. A chip with his wrong foot from the edge of the area and only drifted a yard wide with Leno well beaten.

Arsenal invite City onto them and Zinchenko should have done better when free at the edge of the box but blazed over.

Arsenal get us back underway...

Half Time

Mikel Arteta will be reasonably happy with this. A terrible start that could have seen them well out of the game inside ten minutes. Instead they still have a chance going into the second half.

Pepe plays back inside to Bellerin in the area and after Gundogn dispossesses him, it comes back to the winger who shoots first time into the side-netting.

De Bruyne gets the chance to curls in a trademark cross from the right flank but overhits it and it goes out for a goal kick.

It has almost all been played on one side of the field with Mahrez worrying Arsenal and Tierney threatening City when overlapping in attack.

Saka plays in Tierney on the left flank but Stones does well to clear the danger.

Dias loses the ball then brings down Aubameyang. Arsenal want a yellow card but the referee shakes his head.

Tierney puts a ball into the box that reaches Oedegaard at the back post but he can't get the ball under control.

Sterling wins the ball 35 yards from goal and plays in Gundogan but the German midfielder can't get the ball under control to get a shot off and the chance is gone as Holding comes over to block.

Tierney has space just outside the left hand side of the box and has Arsenal's first shot on target but it is comfortably dealt with by Ederson.

Mahrez races into the box and easily drifts inside Tierney but his effort is blocked by Holding.

Saka looking the only dangerous player for Arsenal on the break but he can't find Pepe who was free on the right hand side of the area.

A good run from Mahrez to the by-line but no one was in the box when he pulled the ball back into the area.

Arsenal doing better now. Saka and Tierney looking dangerous down their own left hand side. The full back a lot more comfortable than he is facing Mahrez.

Arsenal finally have a chance as Saka shoots at goal but Aubameyang blocked it! It was probably going just wide anyway.

De Bruyne almost finds Gundogan running from deep but it was slightly overhit and he was just offside anyway.

It seems like Arsenal have weathered the storm now. They could have been three down inside five minutes.

Mahrez close to scoring. The ex-Leicester flanker turning inside Mari and then his effort deflects wide off the inside of Tierney's leg.

Sterling had to score there. He tried to do what Minamino did for Southampton yesterday after De Bruyne played him in with a wonderful through-ball but after turning inside Bellerin he lost control and Leno was able to claim.

De Bruyne and Mahrez combing on the right flank. The Belgian puts in a low ball across the six-yard box that Arsenal clear.

GOAL FOR CITY! You can't say they weren't warned. Mahrez crossed again from the right wing and Sterling this time in the centre of the goal leaped high and flicked perfectly just inside the post.

City immediately in attack. Mahrez crossed to the back post where Sterling twice failed to get a good contact on a shot at goal.

City get us underway...

Arsenal can be bet on at over 6/1 at home. I'm going to guess they can't have been close to that ever. City backable at 1/2.

So there is some positive news for Arsenal going into the game. They'll need it looking at this stat. Interesting the last run of this type came against Leeds during the turbulent Revie-Clough-Armfield years.

With City's minds at least half on their Champions League tie, is this when their 12-match winning run stops. At least the Gunners come in full of confidence after Aubameyang's hat-trick in the 4-2 win over Leeds.

Five changes for the Gunners too.Holding, Pablo and Tierney in for David Luiz, Grabiel and Cedric in defence. Elneny replaces Ceballos and Pepe starts instead of Smith-Rowe - a little disappointingly.

Overall City have made five changes from the side that beat Everton in midweek. Stones comes in for laporte. Zinchenko for Walker with Cancelo moving to right back, Fernandinhgo replacing Rodri, as well as the 2021 Premier League MVP Gundogan and De Bruyne in for Jesus and Foden. Incredible strength in depth.

CIty are away at Borussia Monchengladbach on Wednesday which may explain Phil Foden being rested today. Imagine thinking a few years ago they'd rest him and bring in De Bruyne.

And here is how Manchester City will take the field. Including the welcome return of the Premier League's best player - how they've missed him.

This is how Arsenal are lining up against the champions elect.
