Heartbreaking end for West Brom. It was most likely would have been in vain anyway but surely nine points adrift and a big goal difference deficit surely spells the end for Sam Allardyce's side. Thanks for following the match with us.

GOAL FOR VILLA! Olly Watkins kept a deep cross in play and Kyle Bartley controlled the ball on his chest, expecting Johnstone to claim the ball, but Davis nipped in to divert the ball into the net.

Off the post! Almost the supersub, after some pinball in the penalty area Davis makes room for himself and then blasts the ball against the post.

Traore feeds Davis who turns well and shoots on target but Johnstone is behind it.

Davis comes on for Barkley.

McGinn shoots from long range but well wide of the target.

Ramsey comes on for Luiz.

Phillips lays the ball back for Pereira who hits the ball first time with great swerve and power but Martinez pushes over the bar.

Another difficult corner for Villa to defend with Martinez again desperately parrying the ball away from danger.

Great work from Martinez to deny another own goal. Konsa meets the corner and heads against his own post and then the keeper parries away to stop the ball sneaking home.

Watkins should have done better there. Free down the inside-right channel after Townsend fell but, rather than pick his spot, he blasts the ball straight at Johnstone.

Watkins twists and turns in the box but Townsend denies him with a fine block.

Phillips replaces Robinson for West Brom.

Traore runs at Townsend who keeps him out on his weaker right foot and from the tightest of angles near the by-line he swings his swinger at the ball and sees it come off the outside of the post.

El Mohamdy with a fantastic volley from the edge of the box that Johnstone keeps out at full stretch.

Barkley shoots from the edge of the box, Bartley sticks out a foot to block and is relieved to see the ball squirm past the post.

El Mohamady meets the free kick at the near post but can't direct the ball on target.

Gallagher is in the book for a rash tackle on Targett.

Bartley running up from centre back like a Sheffield United defender crossed superbly across the six-yard box for DIagne but the striker did not attack the ball.

Robinson cuts in form the left and shoots from the edge of the box but it is comfortably stopped by Martinez at his near post.
