The second half has been a damp squib compared to the opening 45 mns. Neither side have registered a shot on target.

The Blades have a corner which they play short. Norwood's low ball in is well claimed by Guaita at his near post.

Wilder is preparing to make another change.

The Blades win a corner from the left and its headed clear by Kouyate.

There is a real lack of movement from the visitors in the final third.

The record in England of a winless start to a season is Newport County with 25 games. If it stays like this, Sheffied United's winless streak will be 17 matches.

It is surprising Wilder has yet to make an attacking sub or any change. His side have created nothing.

HALF TIME: Palace lead 2-0 courtesy of an early goal from Schlupp, who later went off with an injury, and a stunning goal from Eze which had shades of Thierry Henry. Palace have defended solidly restricting the Blades to just a single chance.

Bogle heads it across goal to Basham who slips as he shoots and it comes to nothing.

CHANCE! Bogle with a cross/shot straight at the keeper after a mistake from Palace.

Eze, who didnt appear to have a warmup before coming on, replaces Schlupp.

Eze is taking an age to get his boots on. The Palace coaching staff look distinctly unimpressed.

Eze is getting ready and could replace the injured Schlupp, who is in a bit of bother.

Schlupp needs treatment, he is down holding his leg.

McGoldrick is having to come deep to get involved in the game but the visitiors need a targetman.

Jeffrey Schlupp and Christian Benteke

CHANCE! From Zaha's sqaure pass, Benteke's near-post flick is just wide. The officials had signalled a corner but the decision is overturned and its a goal kick.

More tempo is needed by the visitors on the break. There is a promising counter involving McGoldrick but another poor final ball.

Well drilled comes to mind when watching Palace, their 4-4-2 is working like a well oiled machine thus far particularly how Ward and Zaha are working together on the flank.

I dont think Guiata has touched the ball yet.

Zaha is fouled and its a free-kick. Townsend's delivery to the far post finds Tomkins who heads it across but its a free-kick to the hosts.

There has been a good tempo to this game, less cagey than expected.

Zaha and Ampadu continuing to exchange a few choice words after a coming together 5 minutes ago. The season of goodwill and all that.

Sheffield United remain the only Premier League side in 2020-21 without a cleansheet so far.

The visitors have had good spells of possession, with both fullbacks getting involved, but have yet to test the keeper.

Zaha has been getting involved in a few heated moments after some tasty challenges.

Schlupp celebrates scoring his side's first goal of 2021.

Jeffrey Schlupp of Crystal Palace celebrates with teammates after scoring their team's first goal during the Premier League match between Crystal Palace and Sheffield United at Selhurst Park on January 02, 2021 in London, England.

Sheffield United have only picked up one point from losing positions this season which is 50% of their points tally thus far.

The visitors have responded well to going behind. Mousset wins a corner which is headed clear by that man Benteke.

Benteke has now been directly involved in four goals in five Premier League starts this campaign, surpassing his tally from the whole of last season.

Ampadu finds Bogle who tries to play it into the box but Palace are back in numbers. Zaha then launches a counter attack but is fouled.

Palace have netted 11 first-half goals in the Premier League this season, one more than they netted before half-time in the whole of 2019-20.

Townsend tries his luck from all of 40 yards, it bounces and is straight at Ramsdale.

The fact that the visitors have to take more risks early doors will fit nicely into Palace's counter attacking plans.

Oof. Mousset gets a blow to the head when challenging for the ball, he looks to be okay to continue.

The Blades are defending with a very high line, risky business.

Townsend started off the move to find Zaha with a lovely ball and it was a good finish from Schlupp albeit with a slight deflection.

Nine Blades players miss today's game through injury, illness and suspension. So they were unable to name a full bench.

KICK OFF: We are underway at Selhurst Park.

COUNTDOWNl: 5 mins till kickoff!

Palace have shipped 11 goals in their past 3 games including that 7-0 drubbing by Liverpool.

In six of their last 7 defeats, the Blades have lost by a single goal. They are not being hammered but are not keeping clean sheets The signing of Brewster has also yet to yield goals.

Roy Hodgson is in no rush to buy in the January sales.

He said: "Our squad is a good one at the moment and I'm happy with it.

"It's a full squad with no particular gaps to fill so if anything is going to happen it would be on the basis that some players leave us.

"If that moment arrives I'm sure it'll be a reason to sit down and talk about it, but there's no point at the moment talking about these things."

Crystal Palace, who have one win in seven, lost both Premier League meetings with Sheffield United last season.

Roy Hodgson recalls Joel Ward and James McArthur in place of Jairo Riedewald and Nathaniel Clyne while Scott Dann is back on the bench.

Chris Wilder makes three changes from the side that lost at Burnley with George Baldock and Rhian Brewster benched while Jack Robinson is not in the squad, and John Fleck, Oliver Norwood and Jayden Bogle all come into the XI.

Zaha has scored 8 goals this season.

Wilfried Zaha

Blades boss Chris Wilder, whose side are winless, is looking to recruit a couple of players this month to help United's survival bid and has passed on names to the board.

He added: "We do need in my opinion to make the group better. Over to the chief exec and the board for them to make their decision or to pursue the targets we're looking at and the positions we're looking at."

But the manager admits their plight could put off potential targets but is looking for players who want to make themselves heroes.

He said: "From a foreign point of view, yes, most certainly. From a domestic point of view, not necessarily. Domestically, if we bring a player in on loan, he will understand the team maybe a little bit more and look at the stats. "Of course, the one stat that isn't pleasing on the eye is the points total but the other stats in terms of how we've played and how close we've been to wins, those players will have nothing to lose."
