A late winner from Anwar El Ghazi sees Aston Villa beat Everton 2-1 at Goodison Park to deliver a real blow to the hosts' European hopes. The result means the Merseyside club remain two points off sixth-placed rivals Liverpool on 52 in the race for sixth with five games to go. For Villa, the result seems them leapfrog Arsenal and Leeds into ninth on 48 points.

Villa break with McGinn on the right... but Delph makes an important interception.

A free-kick from the left is swung in by Barkley but Pickford can make a simple save. That was a bit disappointing... can Everton grab a late equaliser?

GOAL!! El Ghazi scores and Aston Villa lead! It's a really well worked goal. Traore plays it out wide to the Dutchman in space on the left before he neatly culs the ball into the top right corner! A brilliant strike for his ninth of the season! The visitors are ahead!

Everton counter after Luiz runs into trouble. Calver-Lewin sprints towards the box and has a shot on the run, but it's well wide.

Everton are committing more men forward in search of a winning goal. Villa are holding firm for now.

Sigurdsson has a shot on goal which Martinez catches. SUB! Bernard is on for Iwobi as Everton push for a winner.

SUB! Delph comes on for Gomes who has had a quiet game.

Digne looks to be in some discomfort. He pulls up and it looks as though Watkins stood on his calf. He is hobbling now but he looks like he will run it off.

Godfrey, who has really struggled to deal with Watkins this evening, fouls the striker and Villa have a free-kick in Everton's half. Targett crosses into the box from the left flank and finds Konsa at hte back post but Everton clear their lines.

Villa have a corner which Barkley sends into the box with a simple low pass to Watkins. Watkins fizzes one across and it comes off Traore but Coleman gets it away. The well-worked set-piece almost pays off!

A long ball finds Richarlison but Villa clear the danger. They are struggling with Everton's direct approach. Another ball over the top from Allan finds the Brazilian and his shot is claimed by Martinez.

Villa are enjoying more of the ball with Everton content to sit and try and hit on the counter-attack. It's worked quite effectively for the hosts so far although their lack of time on the ball on their home turf may concern Ancelotti a bit.

BIG CHANCE! A long ball finds Richarlison... he brings it down and strikes off his left boot, but he gets it all wrong as he fires well wide. It was more questionable defending from Villa, though, as really the chance should have been snuffed out earlier by either Mings or Konsa.
