Full Time

The game was all over shortly after half-time due to Fulham's poor defending and if they do not get better at the back quickly their season will go the same way too - and quickly. Thanks for following the match with us.

Mings and Kamara booked after a minor set-to.

Great effort from Bryan comes back off the bar. There didn't look two much danger when he turned the ball on his left foot at the corner of the penalty area but he curled an effort towards the far post that Martinez tipped against the bar.

They are still going Fulham and Kamara's deep cross is turned behind by Cash at the back post in front of Mitrovic.

Bit of a cynical foul from Kamara on Ramsey. There's been lighter offences cautioned today.

Jacob Ramsey comes on for his Premier League debut replacing Hourihane.

Mitrovic has his seventh attempt at goal but again doesn't find the target. This attempt his closest yet, flicking Cavaleiro's deep cross against the outside of the post.

Watkins squared the ball to Grealish who took it beautifully on his chest but he dallied on entering the box and Ream dispossessed him.

Fulham are showing promise going forward now and Bryan fires a decent looking effort but it is just too high.

Le Marchand goes into the book for a foul on McGinn.

Grealish on the volley is just a yard away from turning the ball into the far corner.

Another cross, this time from the right flank, another Mitrovic header off target.

A real chance for Mitrovic who peeled to the back post and beat Targett in the air but his header from Cairney's cross is just wide of the far post.

McGinn picks up a yellow card for a foul on Bryan.

Le Marchand comes on for Hector at the back for Fulham.

No goal! VAR rule that Mitrovic dragged Konsa to the floor just before Kamara's shot. It seems a fair decision.

GOAL! Wow. That came out of nowhere - and it was due to a goalkeeping howler. Kamara turned in from the right flank and hit a curling effort Martinez seemed well behind but he fumbled the ball and Reid turned home the rebound.

This really could be anything, this time Grealish gets to a dangerous area and squares to McGinn but he could not get a good shot at goal.

Cash's cross finds its way across to Grealish at the far post but his effort at goal is blocked

Fulham win a corner and with their tall timber you would think it is their best chance at goal but again Villa clear comfortably.

GOAL! So, so easy. Hourihane put the set piece into the box. Fulham had a high line and Mings raced onto the ball before any defender and just side-footed home.

Odoi is booked for pushing Grealish after the Villa man pushed the ball past him.

Fulham get us back underway.

Embarrassingly one-sided for Fulham really. They look doomed - and not just tonight.

Bryan picks up a yellow card for a foul on Cash.

What a chance for Watkins. Hourihane plays a one-two with Grealish from the corner and curls an inswinging cross to the centre of the six-yard box that Watkins leapt at but headed 45 degrees away from the target.

Cash gets to the by-line and pulls back to McGinn who lays off to Hourihane 25 yards from goal but his effort is deflected wide of the target.

Cavaleiro wins a corner and swings it in but Konsa heads clear.

Kamara comes on to replace Tete. You can't see him posing the same threat down the right flank.

Tete is down receiving treatment to his calf. It will be a blow if he goes off. One of the few, maybe the only Fulham player to come out of the game with credit so far.

Grealish finds Watkins with a long ball on the left flank and he easily cuts inside Hector but hits his shot high over the bar.

Grealish was a little too cute their dribbled back to his own goal and then tried a low cross-field ball to Matty Cash on the opposite side of the field. Cavaleiro intercepted and got the ball under controlled but then fired high over the bar.

Watkins so close to making it three. Villa under no pressure passed the ball across the field 30 yards from goal before McGinn curled a low cross behind the defence and the former Brentford man slid in at the back post but couldn't get a touch to the ball. It would have been ruled out due to offside anyhow looking at the replay.

Althought they will be delighted with their start, the one area of concern for Dean Smith will be Tete getting free down the right flank and again he delivers to Mitrovic but under pressure from Mings the Serb can't get the ball under control.

Mitrovic does look dangerous, here he beats Konsa to the front post to get to Bryan's cross but the chance was a difficult one stooping at the near post and he can't hit the target.

Grealish is brought down by Anguissa 25 yards from goal on the left hand side of the field but not for the first time Hourihane puts in a poor ball that the keeper gathers. Good job he did better work when gifted the chance at goal.

GOAL! That was too easy. Watkins raced down the left flank then played inside to Grealish who jinked into the penalty area before squaring to McGinn whose touch allowed Hourihane to side-foot home.

Yellow cards for Bobby Reid and Matt Targett. Neither seemed like bookings. The referee stamping his authority on proceedings early.

Great chance for Mitrovic, Tete puts a fine cross in from the right flank and the big Serb leapt highest but his header deflected off Matty Cash and looped invitingly for Martinez to catch.

A bit better from Fulham as Tete puts the ball intot he box but Mings is first to it and clears comfortably.

Villa almost forge a chance to make it to as Watkins puts the ball into the box from the left flank but Fulham clear.

GOAL! McGinn lofted a lovely ball over the Fulham defence and Grealish making a diagonal run to the inside right channel saw Areola coming out and just clipped the ball over him and into the net. Fulham have looked tentative early and Villa took full advantage.

Villa have started the brighter and McGinn sees a shot blocked by Bryan after a lay-off from Watkins

And we're underway...

Mitrovic against Mings and Konsa will be an interesting battle. The Villa centre back pairing has looked pretty good since lockdown but the old fashioned English number nine type, that England don't produce anymore, will give them a test.

Fulham will have to see this as a great chance to open their account for the season. Though Villa beat the Blades last week they found it very hard to break down ten men so if the Cottagers can get their defence right (admittedly quite an ask), they should be well in this game.

Interesting betting market for this one. Villa favourites at around 6/4 while Fulham can be backed at over 2/1. The draw is 5/2.

Here are Scott Parker's thoughts ahead of the match.

Villa stick with the same side who beat Sheffield United last time out.

Skipper Tom Cairney, Bobby Reid and Tim Ream come into the starting line-up for the Cottagers, in place of Harrison Reed, Joshua Onomah and Aboubakar Kamara.

And this is how the hosts will line up...

This is the side the visitors have named for tonight's match...
