GOAL FOR NEWCASTLE! They won't disallow this one. Willock shoots at goal, it deflects off Fabinho and sends the ball wide of the helpless Alisson.
GOAL FOR NEWcASTLE! DISALLOWED! It has been coming in the last few minutes. Terrible defending from Liverpool, Wilson goes through on goal, Allisson saves, but Wilson bundles it home. It hit his arm indavertently and the goal is ruled out by VAR.
Ritchie's cross is glanced towards goal by Willock but it is a couple of yards over the bar.
Murphy does very well to get to the by-line and puts in a good cross that Fabinho heads over his own bar.
Cynical foul from Fabinho on Maximin sees the Liverpool player get a booking.
Gayle comes on for Almiron. Could he steal an equaliser for the Magpies?
Milner shoots from the edge of the box but Dubravka gets down to save it.
Mane with a good low drive inside the near post but Dubravka gets down well to parry it away.
Milner turns well in the box but his clip to the back post is a little to high for Mane.
Thiago is replaced by Curtis Jones.
That would have been the goal of the season. Like a 'headers and volleys' set up, Thiago side-foots the ball in the air perfectly to Alexander-Arnold on the edge of the box and he volleys just wide of the goal with Dubravka only able to watch and hope.
Salah with another fine chance to double the scoring as Longstaff gives the ball away in the box but the Moroccan marksman slashes his effort low into the side-netting.
Almiron plays the ball wide to Ritchie but with few options he can only blast the ball low across the six-yard box and Alexander-Arnold clears.
Newcastle's defence still resembles a swinging bar room door and Robertson runs from deep before striking low and wide of the far post.
What is Shelvey doing passing back fully 70 yards to Dubravka? The keeper was not happy as he tried to control the bouncing ball and Mane blocked his clearance but thankfully for the visitors wide of the goal.
Wilson comes on for Joelinton.
Jota is replaced by Milner. Klopp wants less of a pinball machine game.
Another stop from Dubravka. The ball falls to Firmino at the back post and he shoots firmly but the Slovakian stopper is right behind it.
Joelinton has a chance from just inside the area and connects with it well but virtually straight at Allisson and he parries the ball away.
Shelvey getting on the ball a bit at the start of this half and immediately looking at playing behind the Liverpool defence.
Robertson puts in a dangerous-looking cross but Fernandez clears the danger.
Newcastle get us back underway..
Somehow it is only 1-0. Good chances at either end to add to the scoring but particularly for the home side.
A harder chance for Mane as he stooped backwards to aim a header at goal from Robertson's cross but misses the target.
Mane just wide with a sliding effort after Alexander-Arnold played a low ball in front of the Newcastle defence.
Another chance for Liverpool! Salah squares to Mane but his touch is uncharacteristically very heavy and Dubravka dives at his feet to gather.
Firmino slips through Jota but he cannot get a good contact on his shot at goal.
Alexander-Arnold finds Firmino with a good deep cross but he cannot get a good contact onto the cross.
Salah is plays through on goal and he looks certain to score but he gets too close to Dubravka who saves well.
Saint-Maximin is so dangerous, he plays in Joelinton but he couldn't play in Longstaf.
Another chance for Jota but he scuffs his effort at goal from point blank range after Salah had first seen an effort blocked. It all followed Ciaran Clark giving the ball away in his own box.
Mane pulls a shot wide of the target but he was offside anyway.
Another chance for Jota but he shins a volley on his left after a fine centre from Mane.
Jota shoots from 20 yards after a fine ball from Thiago was tapped back from Salah to the ex-Wolves man but he could not hit the target.
Newcastle have the ball in the net from Joelinton's header when a corner was headed back towards the goal but Liverpool had all come out to play them offside.
Great stop from Allisson, Longstaff made a fine run from midfield and is picked out by Shelvey but Allisson dives to his left to keep his shot out.
Saint-Maximin was released by Jacob Murphy and his centre is nudged towards his own goal by Thiago but the Newcastle forward was ruled offside anyhow.
Mane was played in by Trent Alexander-Arnold but puts the ball over the bar from close range - followed by the linesman's flag which would have ruled it out anyway.
Saint-Maximin with a lovely run beating three players before being taken down by Kabak in midfield which earns the Liverpool centre back a yellow card.
A stat that puts into perspective how good Salah has been for the Reds.
GOAL FOR LIVERPOOL! Mane put a dangerous cross into the box which was headed to the far post by Dummett only for Salah to take the ball down brilliantly and then turn 270 degrees and slams the ball into the net.
Liverpool get us underway...
Victory for Liverpool today will see them back in the top four, at least until West Ham and Chelsea meet later this evening.
Liverpool heavily favoured at 1/6 to win today. You really would not want to be piling in at that price. Newcaste perhaps tempting at around 12/1.
Some protests outside Anfield, but fair to say at a lower intensity than we've seen elsewhere.
A good omen for today's game. If only there was a Ginola or Asprilla playing for the away side today.
Unsurprisingly, Steve Bruce's men are unchanged from the xi who produced their best performance of the season beating West Ham last time out.
The only change for Liverpool from the side who drew at Leeds is Mo Salah coming in for James Milner, strongly suggesting a change to a more attacking formation with four forwards.
And these are the Magpies who will come out at Anfield just before 12.30.
This is how the Reds will line up this afternoon...
