As for Guardiola, he isn’t a fan of the master v apprentice headlines when he locks horns with Arteta: "Maybe we should clarify who's the master and who's the apprentice first. All the people who know him, we didn't have any doubts about what he's doing in a short period of time. He settled really well and the way his team is playing right now is perfect for the quality they have. He was able to get Arsenal back to the position where they were a long time ago. He's doing really well in all competitions. Mikel is a competitor and a fighter. All the people who love him, we are more than happy with what he's doing in London."

Mikel Arteta may not have included new £45m signing, Thomas Partey from the off today, but he’s expecting big things from the former Atletico man soon: "I've seen the buzz around the place. The fans are really happy, I've seen some really positive reactions. The same with the team and staff. We have rated him for a long time."

The big news for Man City is that Sergio Aguero is deemed fit to return to the starting XI. The Argentina international features for the first time this season after limping off with a knee injury v Burnley on June 22. No Kevin de Bruyne or Aymeric Laporte for the hosts though. Meanwhile, Arsenal leave new £45m signing, Thomas Partey on the bench.
