End of 2nd Half
FT
The final whistle goes and City move second in the Premier League and just two points behind Manchester United with a game in hand. It’s been a hugely impressive performance from City, with Stones finally breaking his league duck for the club at the 94th attempt with a first half header… and like London buses, along came his second after the break. Stunning strikes by Gundogan and Sterling added an extra sheen of quality to the night, and on this evidence you’d be brave to bet against Pep Guardiola’s side going on and winning the title.

GOOOAAALLL!!! Oof, now that is nice from Raheem Sterling! He wins City a free-kick right on the edge of the box and takes it himself, curling a gem of a strike right into the far top corner to make it 4-0.

Roy Hodgson slumps in his seat as he watches his team drift towards a first loss in four league games. Palace clearly arrived with a plan to keep it tight and try and hit City on the break today, but the moment Stones gave City the lead on 26 minutes there has been no answer from the visitors.
83'
City are just seeing this game out now with impressive professionalism. They hosts are spraying it around nicely, but at a pace that isn’t causing Palace huge problems.
79'
Roy Hodgson has a roll of the dice and throws Batshuayi up top to give his team a focal point at least. It’s going to take quite an impact from the forward to turn this one around though.

Palace have barely touched the ball in the last ten minutes. This is a masterclass in how to control a football match.
75'
City are at walking pace now, controlling the game and keeping Palace firmly at arm’s length. It’s been a trademark City display and on this form it’s unsurprising that they are clear favourites for the Premier League title with the bookmakers.
72'
Kevin de Bruyne really deserved a standing ovation after that sparkling performance. Thankfully he’s such a confident bloke that you imagine he’ll be giving himself one in his head as he takes his place in the stands for a well-earned rest.
72'
Guardiola is confident that this is in the bag and takes off his two star men on the night (Gundogan and De Bruyne) to keep them fresh for bigger challenges ahead.
68'
GOOOAAALLL!!! It took him years to break his Man City duck, but now John Stones has two in an evening as he drills home a rebound through a crowd of bodies. It had taken a great save to deny Stones’ defensive counterpart Dias with the initial shot, but Guaita had no chance with the follow-up. 3-0 and it’s surely game over.

De Bruyne intercepts and slides a perfect pass into Sterling to put the winger behind the Palace defence, but he takes a bit too long waiting for the cross and is tackled.
63'
De Bruyne really is a remarkable footballer. He is so consistent excellent that sometimes it’s easy to overlook just what he delivers time and again for this City team, but Palace can’t deal with him at all tonight.
62'
The ball falls to De Bruyne outside the box and he lines up a shot, but his excellent effort curls just the wrong side of the upright.
60'
There is no let-up for Palace as off goes Bernardo Silva and on comes Phil Foden. The quality City have available to them is really quite something.
59'
Guaita is very fortunate to escape gifting City a third after being robbed of possession inside his own box by Jesus. The Palace keeper tried a nifty turn but Jesus read it all the way and was unfortunate to see his touch back find the one retreating defender.
57'
GOOOAAALLL!!! What a peach that is! Ilkay Gundogan takes advantage of some overplaying on the edge of the Palace box by Andros Townsend, robs the wide man of possession and then bends a beauty of a shot into the top corner. 2-0.
