Hello and welcome to Eurosport's coverage of Manchester City against Sheffield United. I'm Ciaran Baynes and I'll be following the game with you.

A half dominated by City but not too many chances created. The Blades still in the game.

Another dangerous free kick is whipped in by Gundogan but again City can't get a clear connection on the cross.

Walker's long ball was badly misjudged by Bogle and Torres should really have done better with his cut back from the by-line which Basham cleared.

Diaz does well on the stretch when it looked for a second like Brewster may get through on goal.

Torres gets around Bogle on the right flank and whips in a cross that Ramsdale gathers at chest height.

Brewster turns and shoots on the edge of the box but it is straight at Ederson.

Foden tries to find Jesus in the middle but it goes out for a goal kick.

Good omen for City if they needed one.

Norwood picked up a yellow card for a foul on Foden, a delayed one due to City having the ball for 5 minutes after this.

Another prolonged period of play from City deep in the United half, it ends up with Bernardo swinging in a cross from the right flank that Jesus meets at the back post but can't tee up Foden running inside him.

Fernandinho plays a deft ball over the top for Jesus but Basham defends well and it goes out for a goal kick.

It is as you would expect now. All Manchester City. Gundogan curled a free kick into the box which the Blades just manage to clear.

Almost a goal for Bernardo Silva. A stupid header back to his own goal by Norwood, after Ampadu had initially cleared, and Bernardo glanced his own header as the ball looped back goalwards but didn't get enough contact on it and Ramsdale collected gleefully.

With the exception of the total defensive abomination for the goal, the Blades have looked pretty good so far. Not creating anything yet but holding their own in possession compared to most City opponents.

GOAL FOR CITY! Torres beats Bogle and Ampadu far too easily and Jesus can't believe his luck when the ball is slid to him six yards out and he composes himself before slotting home.

Zinchenko sends the first cross into the box of the game but Egan clears well.

United have settled down now and showing some confidence on the ball. What a difference a win makes.

Blades got in a bit of trouble playing football trying to play football out of their own box but Basham manages to clear.

Sheffield United get us underway...
