Good afternoon and welcome to our live text coverage of the Premier League match between Newcastle and Arsenal from St James' Park. The home side enter this game in a rich vein of form that has given them a new lease of life in the relegation battle despite still being in 17th. In April, they beat both Burnley and West Ham, while securing draws with Spurs and Liverpool. Arsenal, on the other hand, are currently in 11th and only won two out of seven games last month. We will be bringing you all the build-up, highlights and talking points from the match tonight, so stay tuned ahead of kick-off at 14:00.

FULL-TIME: Newcastle 0-2 Arsenal
The Gunners see out injury time comfortably, just passing the ball around conservatively in front of 10-man Newcastle who were sitting deep. But in truth, Arsenal didn't really need to go up a gear even when Newcastle had 11 men on the field and that's as easy as you can expect three points to be in the Premier League.

HE'S OFF!! A needlessly low and aggressive tackle from Schar, giving Martinelli's ankle the full face of his studs. There's a long VAR check afterwards to check the right decision was made, but there's no point really because that red card is as clear as daylight. Now, after only just returning from a two-and-a-half month spell out injured, Schar will have to sit out a few more games.

Steve Bruce shows some attacking intent by bringing on Dwight Gayle for Clark. Is it too little too late though?

CLOSE! Longstaff takes his free-kick quickly, which sets Murphy free with the ball. He finds Joelinton, who then passes the ball onto Shelvey whose subsequent shot is blocked. Maybe the best chance of the game for Newcastle, although that's not saying much really.

That second goal has reasserted Arsenal's dominance in this game. They're moving the ball about so comfortably, while Newcastle are defending deep and back to offering very little in return.

GOAL!!! Fantastic move from the Gunners, as some quick passing leads to Martinelli having the ball in acres of space on the left. He whips a cross into the far post above head height, yet Aubameyang impressively flies in to hook the ball into the back of the net while in mid-air!

Dangerous cross in from Ritchie but it's too close to Ryan, who comes out of goal to claim it.

Lovely cross from Odegaard and Gabriel heads it over the bar.

Fernandez is late to the challenge and ends up trampling on Xhaka's foot. First yellow card of the second half.

Saint-Maximin drives forward on the counter with two options to his right. Pressure from Chambers forces him into attempting a rushed, off-balance through ball to Wilson that's easily dealt with by the Arsenal defence.
55'
Interception from Clark to prevent Aubameyang getting on the end of Xhaka's pass over the top.

Chambers is called to action almost immediately! Ritchie sends in a delightful cross, Wilson can't get close to it and Chambers turns it away for a corner.

Luiz is holding his left hamstring after a long pass forwards. He'll probably have to come off, which is a shame considering today is his first appearance since 21st March.

It's early days but Newcastle look to be showing a bit more intent in this second half so far. They're retaining possession of the ball better, showing more range in their passing and also pushing Arsenal back a bit in midfield.

We're up and running again at St James' Park! Can Arsenal hold onto a lead? Or will Newcastle be able to fight back?
