Full Time

A wonderful start to the season for Newcastle and exactly the beginning David Moyes did not want after an unhappy summer.

90+4'

Straight away Almiron, who has looked very lively, races through on goal but Ogbonna does very well to retreat and snuff out his shot

90+3'

Yarmolenko turns in from the right flank and rocketed a shot on target forcing Darlow to make a sharp stop.

90'

Five minutes of injury time for West Ham fans to endure.

87'

GOAL! Another debutant, another goal. And what a strike it was from Jeff Hendrick. Almiron on as a substitute was cool in the box and played it across the area to the Irish midfielder who fired the ball into the roof of the net.

84'

West Ham now camped in the Newcastle half and Fredericks' cross is headed goalwards by Haller but Darlow saves comfortably.

80'

Antonio puts a dangerous looking ball into the box but Fernandez puts it behind for a corner. This kick reaches the unmarked Yarmolenko at the back post and he fires in an effort that is deflected wide.

77'

Joelinton comes on for Saint-Maximin.

76'

Wilson not far away from a second for Newcastle. A fine ball from Hendrick played in Manquillo down the right flank and his dinked cross was just out of reach of Wilson's outstretched leg.

70'

Manquillo is booked for a foul on Bowen.

69'

It did hit Hendrick's arm but the arm was retreating. No penalty given.

68'

West Ham are in the Newcastle box and claim a penalty for a possible handball from Jeff Hendrick but Stuart Attwell the referee shakes his head.

67'

Haller and Yarmolenko come on for Fornals and Noble - you have to say playing him in the hole behind Antonio hasn't worked.

65'

No touches in the Newcastle area for West Ham in the first 20 minutes of the second half. That really is an indictment.

60'

Antonio forces a corner off Shelvey. A set piece looks like West Ham's best chance of a goal. This one is comfortably cleared though.

56'

GOAL! Callum Wilson nets on his debut. A strange goal, Hendrick reacted quickly to get a flick on to Manquillo's cross and Wilson's outstretched boot beats Fabianski to the ball and puts it in the net.

54'

A caution for Fredericks and it's been coming. Unsurprisingly it's for a foul on Saint-Maximin.

52'

Have to say as much talent as Rice has, some of his passing can be so wayward. A good example here as he sprays a ball 20 yards over the head of his intended target.

48'

Fredericks saves a goal there. Wilson clips a ball to the back post that deflects off Rice and Fredericks just gets in front of Carroll to stop him having an effort on goal.

46'

West Ham's skipper Mark Noble gets us restarted.

Half time

Goal-less at the interval but not the worst game by any means.

45'

One minute of injury time to be played.

44'

The game has petered out a little as we approach half time. Both managers will be reasonably pleased with their side's performance so far.

38'

Real end-to-end stuff at the moment. For a moment it looked like Saint-Maximin would be through on goal but Fredericks held him up and after Wilson is also forced into a dead end the ball eventually goes out for a corner after Carroll and Shelvey get into each other's way trying to reach Hendrick's centre.

34'

West Ham hit the bar again! Fornals clips Fredericks' low cross past Darlow but on the frame of the goal.

33'

Great play by Carroll. He lobs the ball over Diop before aiming a right-footed half-volley on target but Ogbonna got a crucial touch and the ball flew off target.

32'

Newcastle now go close on the break. Wilson does well to delay on the ball and wait for Shelvey to make a run through on goal. The pass was not perfect but Shelvey hit a swerving effort with the outside of his boot that hit the side-netting.

29'

Soucek close to a fine goal. He passed wide to Fredericks then raced into the box to meet the cross and headed just wide of the far post. Darlow was rooted to his spot in the middle of the goal.

28'

Antonio showing how dangerous he is on the break. He receives the ball just inside the Newcastle half on the left flank and races towards goal, turning inside onto his right foot before hitting a low drive that Darlow gets behind.

25'

Shelvey picks out Carroll just past the penalty spot from a corner but the striker can't hit the target against his former side.

23'

Shelvey aims a free kick at goal from 25 yards but his shot is deflected off the wall and easy for Fabianski to grab.

21'

There is real potential in the combination between Saint-Maximin and Jamal Lewis down the left flank for Newcastle. Here the former Norwich full back is played in and picks out Wilson on the six-yard box but he hits into the side-netting.

19'

Saint-Maximin gets taken down by Fredericks on the touchline and the Hammers full back is lucky to escape a booking.

14'

Off the bar! An innocuous looking dink into the box from Noble was met by a superb header from Ogbonna which had Darlow beaten but clipped the bar rather than dip into the net.

13'

Yellow card for Hayden who brought down Antonio as he was approaching full stride 35 yards from goal.

9'

West Ham starting to enjoy a bit of possession now but posing no threat as of yet.

6'

Jonjo Shelvey's corner is met by Fernandez at the front post and Fabianski on the line has to fist out of danger.

4'

Lovely period of possession for Newcastle ends with Lewis crossing from the left and Wilson's header at the front post missed the target.

1'

Andy Carroll didn't waste any time. An aerial challenge leaves Soucek on the floor rubbing his head. His elbow caught the Hammer just under the chin.

Newcastle get us underway...

19:58

The suggestion is Mark Noble will play in the number ten position. Not a natural role for him you'd think.

19:55

Almost ready to go. I wouldn't be betting on West Ham at even money. Newcastle more attractive at better than 3/1.

19:45

Three debutants for the Toon Army to follow (from afar obviously). Callum Wilson starts alongside Carroll, while Jeff Hendrick slots in the midfield and Jamal Lewis at full back.

19:40

West Ham fans and their skipper were very angry of course at Grady Diangana getting sold. Today they have two wingers on the bench and Fornals likely playing out wide, while Haller is on the bench. There will be griping if they do not get a result today.

19:29

Here is the Game telling Rice to stay at the London Stadium in case you missed it. Madness! Fair enough if it was The Rock or Stone Cold Steve Austin....

19:27

Declan Rice reaches his ton today and it seems Triple H's words have done the trick and helped him stay with The Hammers. What a strange interjection that was.

19:16

A reminder of West Ham's last campaign where Antonio scored an incredible eight goals in July to ensure them of safety.

19:12

This game will do very well to live up to the preceding Premier League game. Not got the highest hopes between me and you.

19:05

Newcastle's hometown hero Andy Carroll will lead the line against his former side.

19:03

Here is how West Ham are lining up, can they make the London Stadium a happy home this year?:
