Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has signed a new one-year contract at the club, two days before their first game of the Premier League season.
There was never any serious doubt that the Argentine would stay at the club, having led the side through pre-season, but new terms have been agreed for a fourth campaign at Elland Road.
Known as an unorthodox coach, Bielsa prefers to work on a season-by-season basis and he will now attempt to help the club better their ninth place finish from 2020/21.
Leeds begin their campaign on Saturday by resuming rivalries with Manchester United, in a first meeting between the pair in front of fans in over a decade.
"From my point of view this is an extraordinary club," said Bielsa.
It’s not often you have a club who designates so much volume of investment to the improvement of the training.
“In this sense, Leeds have made a significant contribution economically for the tools for a manager to prepare his players to be the ideal ones.
“Everything that we need in this area, the club has resolved it with a very high investment."
Leeds have signed full-back Junior Firpo from Barcelona while Jack Harrison’s loan from Manchester City has been made permanent and deals have been completed for youngsters Amari Miller, Lewis Bate, Kristoffer Klaesson and Sean McGurk.
“Whether that be the pitches, the facilities, the technology, commodities for the work of the players and in this sense, I am very astounded by the conduct of the club.
“I think the most important coaches that world football has would value what this club means in terms of organisation, structure and the public.”
