Arteta celebrates his 100th game in charge of Arsenal with a hard-fought victory over a stubborn Watford side thanks to Smith Rowe's second half strike. Arsenal extend their unbeaten run in the Premier League to eight matches, while Watford can take heart from a spirited display away from home against an in-form opponent.

One more change for Arsenal. Saka makes way for Martinelli for the last few minutes of additional time at the end of this match. Watford also have one more throw of the dice as Fletcher replaces Cathcart.

Six minutes of added time at the Emirates! Can Arsenal seal the deal or will ten-man Watford manage to salvage something against the odds?

RED CARD! Watford are down to ten men! Kucka receives a second yellow card for a forceful challenge on Tavares, which may spell the end for Watford's hopes of an equaliser.

Arsenal make another change and it's the goalscorer, Smith Rowe, who is replaced by Elneny as Arteta looks to protect the lead and take home the three points.

CHANCE! Arsenal get away with one there! Ramsdale comes out too far and is rounded, but the chance goes begging as Watford can only find the side-netting from a tight angle. That was a huge let-off for the Gunners.

Smith Rowe was seeking a brace there. The ball drops for the youngster on his left foot, but he could not keep the effort down. There is another goal in this game with Arsenal looking most likely, but don't rule out Watford just yet.

Fifteen minutes remain in this one and there is still just one goal between the sides. Watford make another attacking change with Hernandez replacing Dennis for the final quarter of an hour as they look for an equaliser.

DISALLOWED GOAL! Arsenal have the ball in the back of the net but once again, they are denied by the offside flag! Odegaard's effort may have been heading in but Aubameyang got a touch to make sure however, he was in an offside position and it remains 1-0!

Twenty minutes left to play and Arsenal make their first change with Lacazette, who has been at the heart of the Gunners attacking play today, being replaced by Odegaard.

The tempo of the game has settled momentarily. Arsenal will be looking for a second goal that would surely secure the points for them. Watford will be encouraged that while it remains 1-0, they are always in the game.

This is the moment Smith Rowe gave Arsenal the lead with a well taken finish from the edge of the penalty area to send the Gunners fans wild!

That goal has really lifted the Arsenal fans who were probably wondering whether they were going to see a goal this afternoon. Watford make their first change of the afternoon as Joao Pedro replaces Tufan in an attacking change for the visitors.

White is challenged on the edge of the box, the loose ball breaks for Smith Rowe who expertly guides the ball into the bottom corner beyond a helpless Foster. Advantage to the Gunners!

Aubameyang and Sissoko go into the book within minutes of each other. Watford have their first effort of the second half as Sissoko picks out Dennis on the left, but he miscues his shot well wide of the post.

Saka and Smith Rowe nearly combine very nicely. Saka cuts inside from the right onto his left-foot, sliding a cute ball that was slightly to heavy for the oncoming Smith Rowe to latch onto. A talented pairing that will continue to cause Watford issues.

Early chance for the hosts as Lokonga's effort from outside the penalty area is well held by Foster in the Watford goal. Lacazette twists and turns before prodding a ball into the box, which fails to find an Arsenal shirt.

SECOND HALF BEGINS! We're back underway at the Emirates and it's Watford who get the game going again. No changes for either side at the break. Can somebody produce a moment of magic and find a breakthrough?

HALF-TIME! Referee Friend brings an eventful first half to a close as the teams go in at the break with nothing between them. It's been a goalless first half, but not one which has been short of action. Arsenal have twice been denied an opener, once by VAR and once by Foster from the spot, as Watford continue to stand firm and frustrate their hosts.

CHANCE! From the corner, Foster comes to Watford's rescue again with a smart reaction save from a powerful Gabriel header. Arsenal's frustration grows as they are thwarted yet again by a resolute Watford defence.
