Manchester United move to within two points of the Champions League places thanks to a fine second-half performance to beat a brave but ultimately wasteful Brentford.

Fernandes has the goal at his mercy but tries to be too clever by attempting a dink over Lossl. He doesn't get enough purchase on the ball and the Brentford goalkeeper doesn't have to move to make the save.

He won't want to watch a replay of that one.

Great work from McTominay as he wins the ball back, drives through the middle and picks out Fernandes, who feeds it through to Rashford. From the angle, he lifts his shot into the roof of the net.

It's harsh on Brentford but United deserve great credit for their second half performance.

Nice approach play from Brentford, but again the finishing is lacking as Toney's shot is blocked by Varane, who has been absolutely terrific today.

United have switched formation and are now playing three in defence.
