FULL TIME

A vintage first half of football followed by a tired and weary second.

This game was played almost entirely in the final thirds but clear cut chances were still few and far between with both sides struggling in front of goal and both shotstoppers in fine form too.

Bielsa and Bruce remain winless this season.

90+4´

Leeds with one final attack but Ritchie clears up.

Now here come Newcastle but Phillips is there to cooly clear the danger.

A draw suddenly looks a very fair result but this has been a totally different half to the thrilling first.

YELLOW

Junior picks up a yellow now for a foul on Willock.

80´

Ayling has been in Mike Dean´s ear for a while now about some injustice or another.

It´s Bamford who is down now, giving everyone a well deserved break. Even Saint-Maximin has faded - he´s done little to nothing for 20 minutes now.

77´

It´s still end to end stuff but the quality of the chances is diminishing. This time Bamford gets his head on a ball into the box but it´s well over.

They all look so tired.

73´

CHANCE!

Bamford has his first clear sight on goal in the game as he´s played through one on one, but his effort on the slide his collected easily by Darlow.

70´

Longstaff´s 25 yard pot shot is miles over. Both sides tiring.

67´

The sting has been taken out of this one with a few fouls, substitutes and poor decision making.

I was sure there would be more goals but at the moment neither side looks particularly capable.

65´

Roberts almost has an assist with his first touch as he so nearly picks out Raphinha, but his pass is just a little too heavy and skims out of play.

WHAT A SAVE!

Saint-Maximin should have a second! His first effort is blocked and falls kindly back to the forward whose belting effort is tipped wide by Meslier.

57´

Rodrigo picks up a yellow for a foul inside his own half. A solid job in defensive midfield but that´s not what he´s paid to do.

57´

Hayden is furious with Mike Dean because the referee gets well in his way as he looks to pick up a loose ball on the edge of the box.

The home fans sing a chorus of boos.

55´

CLOSE!

Daniel James whips a ball into the box and Manquillo almost scores a brilliant own goal as his header looks like looping over Darlow before the ´keeper produces a jumping save.

51´

He has a chance now though!

James is free at the back post and hits Raphinha´s cross on the volley, but his effort is skewed well wide.

49´

Yep, we´re where we left off, with Leeds on the attack through Raphinha.

That´s all going down the right because on the left Daniel James has not been able to have much of an impact on this match so far.

HALF TIME

Breathe now everyone.

What a mad half that was. I don´t know where the midfield is, it´s just end to end carnage. Leeds look the stronger side but Saint-Maximin has been the best player on the pitch.

Up the other end, Raphinha looks very dangerous too.

There must be more goals in this one. Don´t go anywhere.

45+4´

CHAOS!

Wow.

Leads counter and first Raphinha is one on one with the keeper, taking too long before whacking a shot right at Darlow.

Then, Junior has the same opportunity on the other side of the goal, but skies his effort a million miles over.

Hugh waste. Leeds should be back ahead.

48+3´

No time to breathe in this one as Leeds try to make the most of stoppage-time.

They´re in the Newcastle box, sniffing out an equaliser, but the Magpies clear their lines each time.

Great game so far.

GOAL! NEWCASTLE 1 LEEDS 1 (Saint-Maximin, 44´)

Brilliant!

Joeltin is down the left and picks out Saint-Maximin in the middle outside the box.

The Englishman dummies his way past three Leeds defenders before finally pulling the trigger, rifling the ball into the corner past Meslier.

43´

This time Saint-Maximin does have support but his ball into the box is well over the head of Joelinton who was in space.

Wasted.

42´

Bruce looks absolutely furious. He´s gone completely red, like three weeks in the Maldives without suncream red.

It´s fair enough too, he´s urging his players forward because every time Saint-Maximin has the ball he´s forced to do it all on his own because he has absolutely no support.

39´

This game is mental. Newcastle really should have equalised but Leeds have 66 per cent of the possession and are constantly pushing for a second.

Should be 1-1, could be 3-0 to Leeds.

36´

POST!

Matt Ritchie goes for goal from distances and absolutely whacks the post! So close to an equaliser!

35´

Raphinha is causing trouble again and this time pulls back for Klich whose effort is well collected on the dive by Darlow.

34´

Saint-Maximin is hobbling a little, and for anyone who has ever owned him on fantasy football, you´ll know that´s bad news.

I´m not sure he will last the half.

RAPHINHA ON FORM

32´

Newcastle are sitting so deep as Leeds attack, with 10 behind the ball and only Saint-Maximin up top to run on to loose balls.

Luckily, he´s completely brilliant at that.

It´s just non-stop up and down the pitch, Leeds attacking in numbers before Saint-Maximin counters.

30´

WHAT A MISS!

End to end stuff now. Rodrigo picks out Phillips outside the box, only for the England man to bend an effort narrowly wide of the post.

Looks like Rodrigo may have been offside anyway.

29´

Leeds taking their time to take the sting out of this Newcastle momentum.

All of a sudden the hosts are doing all the pressing. Saintt-Maximin was absolutely rapid down the right.

27´

Up the other end, Rodrigo finds James from deep but the former Manchester United man can´t get past the Newcastle defence.

With Bamford the main man up top, Rodrigo appears to be emulating the Grealish role at Manchester City, dropping deeper before heading out left, with few touches in the box.

25´

WHAT A SAVE!

Chaos!

Saint-Maximin bursts down the left with tremendous pace before pulling the ball back into the box.

First Almiron swipes at thin air but Joelinton is behind him and looks certain to score, only for Meslier to produce a brilliant save with his legs.

Should be 1-1.

21´

CHANCE!

Newcastle to get a chance up the other end as Ritchie´s cross finds Almiron in the box, his effort spinning just wide of the post.

18´

The Whites come again and Klich sends an effort into the arms of Darlow. Newcastle cannot get out of their own half and Ritchie just lumps the ball straight out of play this time.

They´re missing Wilson up top.

16´

On second look the ball just flies through the legs of a leaping Rodrigo. What a strange goal.

The hosts are behind and Leeds are still on top...

Trouble for the Magpies.

GOAL! NEWCASTLE 0 LEEDS 1 (Raphinha, 13´)

What a goal!

Raphinha whips a brilliant ball into the box and Rodrigo completely dumbfounds the keeper by missing his flick, leaving the ball to fly into the corner of the net.

An accidental dummy that has paid off and Raphinha wheels off to celebrate a 30 yard goal.

13´

Rodrigo spies an opening but his touch is so poor. Bielsa had spoken about his prospects in the summer but he´s been very disappointing for Leeds so far this season.

10´

Raphinha is down with what looks like an issue with his left eye.

He looks a little stunned by the whole thing but is ready to return to the field now.

Both sides are without a win heading into this one.

Leeds have two draws and two losses. Newcastle have 1 draw and three losses. It isn´t exactly inspiring stuff but surely something has to give sooner or later.

Matt Ritchie gets a cross into the box but Meslier is down to collect.

Raphinha with a lovely dink over the top for Klich who picks out Bamford with a flick.

The striker tees himself up for a shot but sends a floating effort over.

Leeds with a typically lively start with seven men surrounding a Newcastle throw in inside the hosts´ half.

The stadium is absolutely full of noise. Love it.

19:57

THREE MINUTE WARNING

We´re almost underway...

19:54

DARLOW RETURNS

After a dodgy start to the season from deputy shotstopper Freddie Woodman, Karl Darlow is back between the sticks.

19:51

BRUCE IN DANGER?

Newcastle are 19th, with one point from a possible 12. Is the gaffa in trouble?

Well, when asked whether he´d had discussions about his future with the higher-ups, he said, "No, but it's not all about me.

"I'm here to only do what I think is best for the club, and that is manage it as best I can and keep us moving along.

"It's for other people to answer that. I will continue to do my best - I'm never going to walk away from the challenge of it, that's for sure - so you're asking the wrong person."

19:42

JAMES MAKES FIRST START

The biggest news on the team sheet is that Daniel James makes his first start for Leeds following his big-money signing from Manchester United.

He came off the bench last week but replaces Jack Harrison is tonight´s line-up.

My fantasy team weeps.
