HALF HOUR MARK
There is still nothing to split the two teams with half an hour played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Newcastle have seen the best chance go begging when Romero blocked superbly from Willock inside the penalty area. Spurs yet to ask any serious questions of Dubravka whose palms have been stung just once by Son.
29'
MISSED OPPORTUNITY
The visitors can't make anything of the resulting corner and eventually concede a free-kick which lets all the pressure off Spurs, who gallop up the other end where Son drills the ball into the grateful arms of Martin Dubravka.

KANE IS BOOKED
The Spurs and England skipper is the first name to be taken by the referee after he brings down Saint-Maximin who skipped away from him on the left flank. The resulting free kick is whipped in at pace and turned behind for a corner.
25'
SHUT UP SHOP
Newcastle have done well so far not to allow Kane and Son Heung-min to combine as they tend to do so effectively. Neither have seen too much of the ball and Newcastle will be aiming to keep it that way this afternoon.
22'
IMMENSE DEFENDING!
Superb defending from Romero who has denied what could have been the opener for Newcastle. Joe Willock dances round two challenges in the box and as he looks to unleash the strike, Romero throws himself in the way with a tremendous last-ditch and goal saving block!
20'
PLAYER DOWN
Rodrigo Bentancur accidentally catches Saint-Maximin in the face as the pair battled for the ball, the Newcastle forward is receiving treatment and there is a brief stoppage in play as a result.
17'
DIER HAS A GO!
A free-kick from Eric Dier bends away from goal and then back towards the target however, it wasn't near enough. A gasp from the crowd made it seem closer than it was but nevertheless, something for Newcastle to think about.
15'
KANE COMES CLOSE!
First real effort of note from Spurs. Dejan Kulusevski pokes the ball into the path of Kane, who shifts it onto his right foot, but drags the shot wide. He will be disappointed that he could not make more of that half chance.
13'
POSSESSION BASED
The last five minutes have seen Spurs enjoy 80% of the possession however, they have yet to create anything meaningful from it. Newcastle seem disciplined and organised, their only focus without the ball will be to ensure they are hard to break down and they don't give anything away cheaply.
10'
BACKS TO THE WALL
Newcastle have retreated into their defensive shape as Spurs hold all the attacking cards for the moment. The hosts are working the ball from side-to-side, waiting for a gap to appear which they will hope they can exploit.
7'
SET PIECE TUSSLES
Spurs have consecutive corners, the first of which sees a wrestling match going on between Davies and Javier Manquillo, the second is nodded over the crossbar and the pressure is off Newcastle for the time being.
4'
TESTING THE WATER
Ben Davies eyes a cross field ball to Emerson Royal, but the pass has too much weight behind it. Spurs come again but Dan Burn is there to sweep the danger away. Newcastle began on the front foot however, Spurs are now looking to settle into this match with a spell of possession.
2'
ELECTRIC START
Newcastle have flown out of the blocks here, getting on the front foot nice and early. Allan Saint-Maximin draws a foul from Cristian Romero, but the free-kick is tame and cleared away at the near post. Nice and positive from the visiting team.

WE'RE UNDERWAY!
Newcastle get the game going in their alternate black and gold strip, while Spurs are wearing their usual white and navy. Conte and Howe share a warm embrace before taking to their respective technical areas. Martin Atkinson is the referee for this one with Paul Tierney on VAR duties.

IT’S NEARLY TIME!
Here we go then, the players will soon emerge from the tunnel for the pre-match pleasantries. Kick-off is minutes away! Will Spurs take their place in the top four or can Newcastle strengthen their bid for survival further? Let's find out...
16:20
TEN MINUTES TO GO!
We are ten minutes from getting underway now, the warm-ups are done, the players are going through their final preparations as kick-off fast approaches! The teams will be out shortly and the buzz around the stadium continues to build!
16:15
PRE-MATCH THOUGHTS
Ahead of the match, Conte talked about how he expects to see Newcastle improve under Howe and the new investment. Meanwhile, his opposite number praised the organisation and tactical diligence the Italian drills into the teams that he coaches, saying Newcastle must be at their best if they are to get a result in the capital.
16:10
SIMILAR AMBITIONS
Spurs are close to achieving their ambitions of reaching the Champions League ahead of next season, with consistency likely to be the difference between who makes the cut and who falls at the final hurdle. Newcastle have been in Europe before and have been away for far too long. Under the new ownership and management, the club will be raising the levels of expectations and building towards returning to the biggest stage in years to come.
16:05
FORM IN THE LAST FIVE
In terms of their league form, Spurs have recorded four wins and only one defeat in their previous five league matches. They have scored 16 goals and conceded just three in reply including 4-0 and 5-0 wins against Leeds and Everton respectively. As for Newcastle, they have three wins and two defeats in their last five league games. They have scored six goals and conceded four, so based on these statistics we may be treated to some goals this evening.
15:55
KICKING ON AND BOUNCING BACK
Before the international break, these sides experienced mixed fortunes. Spurs saw off London rivals West Ham with a convincing 3-1 victory, while Newcastle were on the wrong end of a 1-0 scoreline away to Everton. Conte will always be asking more of his players and for consistency in results and performance, while Howe may have referred his players back to their impressive unbeaten run to spark belief that they can go on and secure safety.
15:50
ONWARDS AND UPWARDS
Since Antonio Conte and Eddie Howe arrived at their respective clubs, both have seen a welcomed upturn in fortunes. Spurs are within touching distance of a top-four spot, while Newcastle went on a nine-match unbeaten run which has lifted them nicely towards safety. Both managers are starting to see their ideas transferring into their teams' football but will be demanding much more as we enter the crucial final stages of the season.
