'Do I want this on my CV?’ - Peter Crouch concerned managers will see Tottenham job as poisoned chalice

Managers might question whether they want the Tottenham job on their CV after seeing elite coaches like Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho fail to win silverware in north London, says Peter Crouch. Tottenham parted ways with Conte last week in the wake of the Italian's rant against his own players. But the former Inter Milan and Chelsea boss was far from the only manager to struggle at Spurs.

Tottenham Hotspur could find it hard to convince potential new managers to take the job after big names tried and failed to win silverware at the club, says Peter Crouch.
Antonio Conte parted ways with Spurs last week by mutual consent after almost a year and a half in charge.
The Italian arrived with a glittering CV featuring league titles at Chelsea, Juventus and Inter Milan, but he couldn’t replicate that success at Tottenham and eventually his frustration showed when he publicly criticised his players for being ‘selfish’.
Conte followed in the footsteps of Nuno Espirito Santo, Jose Mourinho and Mauricio Pochettino in failing to land Spurs’ first trophy since 2008, and former England and Tottenham striker Crouch thinks their next appointment could prove tricky as a result.
“What Spurs fans are becoming disenchanted with is that Daniel Levy has been in charge and they haven’t won anything in this reign. Constant changing of managers is not working,” Crouch told BT Sport.
When it was put to him that potential new managers could be put off by the failures of their predecessors, Crouch said: “This is an issue for any manager coming in now.
“Look at the previous track record of managers, and none of them have worked out. It’s like – ‘do I want this on my CV?’
“I think it needs a change of direction, it needs something built from the ground up.
“The business side of Tottenham Hotspur is phenomenal – the ground, the training ground and what they’ve managed to build.
“But the team at the moment needs backing, it needs changing and it needs freshening up.”
Cristian Stellini has been put in charge of the Spurs side until the end of the season as they look to achieve a top-four finish and qualify for the Champions League.
Spurs are fourth after 28 games, but Newcastle are two points behind them and have two games in hand.
Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique, Ange Postecoglou and Pochettino are among the names to be linked with the job for next season.
Stellini's first game in charge comes away to Everton on Monday.
