The turmoil at Spurs continues as after Antonio Conte's departure as boss, their director of football Fabio Paratici is now to step back from his role at the club until his appeal over his worldwide ban from football is heard. Paratici was handed a 30-month ban from Italian football by FIFA over alleged financial malpractice while he was at Juventus, and that ban was made worldwide on Wednesday.

Fabio Paratici is to step back from his role as Tottenham director of football pending the outcome of his appeal on his worldwide ban from football.
Paratici was handed a 30-month ban from Italian football by FIFA over alleged financial malpractice during his previous role at Juventus, a development that saw the Old Lady given a 15-point deduction in Serie A this term.
On Wednesday, that ban was then made worldwide by FIFA, who stated: "FIFA can confirm that following a request by the FIGC, the chairperson of FIFA Disciplinary Committee has decided to extend the sanctions imposed by FIGC on several football officials to have worldwide effect.”
In response - also on Wednesday - Spurs said they were "urgently seeking further clarification" on the issue.
Paratici's appeal is due to be heard on April 19.
As reported by The Athletic, Paratici told Spurs players on Friday that he and the club had mutually decided for him to step away from his position.
A statement from Spurs read: "This week - 29 March, 2023 - the FIFA Disciplinary Committee announced a decision to extend the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) sanctions, relating to Fabio Paratici, worldwide.
"This decision was taken in advance of Fabio Paratici’s appeal hearing against the FIGC sanctions on 19 April 2023, the result of which would then have been considered by additional stakeholders, including the club.
"Given FIFA’s unexpected ruling the sanctions may now have multi-jurisdictional effect, although they are still related to the FIGC Appeal. In view of FIFA’s decision, Fabio has agreed with the club that he will take an immediate leave of absence pending the outcome of his appeal."
With boss Antonio Conte no longer at the club as of last Sunday, it creates more uncertainty at Spurs at a time when they are involved in a fight to finish inside the top-four of the Premier League.
Paratici had been expected to lead the search for Conte's replacement, with Cristian Stellini - Conte's ex-assistant at the North London club - taking the managerial reins until the end of the season.
Spurs' next match sees them play Everton on Monday, April 3.
