The Reds bench complained for a long time after that opener but the goal stands.

The Merseysiders have won their past three Premier League matches, despite conceding the opening goal within the first 15 minutes each time.

Kenny Tete lunges in to a poor challenge on Diaz. The referee allows play to continue but when it eventually halts, he calls the Fulham player over and brandishes the yellow card.

Robertson overlaps into the left side of the area but is belatedly found by Firmino. His shot from an offside position is well saved, with Diaz flashing home the loose ball.

There's no time for a celebration though. The flag is quite rightly up for offside in the build up.

However, the Cottagers will be buoyed by the fact that they were unbeaten in both league encounters against the Reds in 2020-21, drawing 1-1 at home and winning 1-0 at Anfield.

Mitrovic is gifted the ball 30 yards from goal and drives into the left side of the area before toe-poking a rushed effort wide of the far post.
