Brighton kept their slim hopes of a top-four finish alive as they demolished West Ham 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The south coast side hosted the Londoners, who did their target of Premier League survival no help as David Moyes’ side conceded three goals in the second half.
The home side went ahead on 18 minutes when Argentina international and 2022 World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister opened the scoring from the spot, adding another goal for the season - his seventh of his club campaign - and likely solidifying interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
The latest three points mean Brighton are now in eighth, seven points behind fourth-placed Tottenham.
While West Ham harboured hopes of at least a draw as they were just a goal down going into the second half, Joel Veltman scored on 51 minutes, before the impressive Kaoru Mitouma added another on 69 minutes. Danny Welbeck then popped up with a minute of normal time remaining to seal the fine victory.
West Ham are in 16th place, two points off the bottom three.
Unai Emery’s Aston Villa secured a 1-0 win over another former Arsenal man, Patrick Vieira, as his 10-man Crystal Palace side suffered defeat.
Palace defender Joachim Andersen put through his own net on 27 minutes, and the away side were dealt a blow in their chase for a leveller when Cheick Doucoure saw red just after the hour mark.
Palace sit in 12th spot, six off the drop zone, while Villa are above them in 11th, seven clear of the Londoners.
Elsewhere in the Premier League, Arsenal secured a dramatic 3-2 comeback win over Bournemouth at the Emirates as Reiss Nelson scored the winner in the 97th minute, leaving Arsenal five points ahead of Manchester City.
Wolves are 13th after Adama Traore’s 82nd minute strike secured all three points against Tottenham, who remain in fourth but are under threat from Newcastle United four points behind them, and with two games in hand.
Chelsea gave Graham Potter some breathing space as a 53rd minute goal from Wesley Fofana earned a 1-0 win over Leeds United, with Chelsea 10th and the Yorkshiremen 17th.
Meanwhile, Manchester City kept the pressure up at the top as Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva kept Newcastle at bay in a 2-0 victory at the Etihad.
Southampton faced Leicester City in the late kick off, as Carlos Alcaraz's goal lifted the home side into 19th spot, and Brendan Rodgers' men are 15th.
