The striker could be ready to return for the FA Cup sixth-round replay with West Ham at Upton Park on April 13.
Rooney - who missed England’s match with the Netherlands at Wembley - was a guest of ITV and said:
Hopefully, if everything goes to plan – I’m back outside running now – I’m hoping to be in full training in the next week or 10 days, so not too far away.

His place in Roy Hodgson’s squad is under scrutiny following the impressive performances of Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy against Germany.
And he seemed aware of the competition when asked about the current England side. "Previously, if everyone is fit, more of less the England team was set. Now, no-one knows."
He also revealed that one of his sons asked him to buy a England shirt with Vardy written on the back.
Should he return against West Ham, the 30-year-old will have eight games to impress ahead of Euro 2016.
