Fabio Borini admitted he could live to regret his decision to return home to Italy with Parma instead of making his loan move to Swansea permanent.
Borini, 20, fired six goals in 12 games for the Swans after arriving on loan from Chelsea in March, but while the Welsh club will return the top flight for the first time since 1983, Borini will be heading for Serie A when his contract at Stamford Bridge expires.
Borini said: "I will never forget Swansea, the club will stay with me in my heart because they really showed me love."
He added: "I thought for a couple of hours after Wembley that I had a great opportunity to stay in Swansea and play in the Premier League, which I would like to do.
"Maybe later in my career it could happen, maybe I can come back when Swansea are in the Champions League! You never know where you can end up.
"Maybe it's a missed opportunity not playing in the Premier League, but maybe this is a good thing for my career and will make me stronger."
