1970-1991: PSG received a major boost when fashion designer Daniel Hechter took over in 1973, and he surrendered the club to Francis Borelli who led them to their first trophy, the French Cup in 1982, before they won the league for the first time in 1986.
1991-2006: TV station Canal Plus took ownership in 1991 and PSG won their only European title in 1996 when they beat Rapid Vienna 1-0 in the final to clinch the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup.
2006-2011: Canal Plus sold their shares to investment fund Colony Capital in 2006 but they failed to take the club further up in the European hierarchy as they won only one French Cup and one League Cup during that period.
From 2011: Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) took over in June, 2011 and became the sole shareholders in 2012, investing massively on transfers.
They brought in Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Brazil captain Thiago Silva but most importantly, in 2017, they paid Barcelona a world-record 222 million euros ($273.8 million) to sign Brazil striker Neymar.
Under QSI they won five consecutive League Cups, three French Cups and five Ligue 1 titles but have not made it past the quarter-finals in the Champions League.
