SEOUL, Dec 7 (Reuters) - South Korea forward Kim Seung-dae will miss the Asian Cup in the New Year because of a toe injury and has been replaced in the pre-tournament training camp by uncapped winger Kim In-sung.
Kim Seung-dae has played five times for his country scoring one goal and his absence through injury is somewhat ironic given he played every minute of every game for his club Pohang Steelers in the recently-concluded season.
Speedster Kim In-sung, who has never represented his country at any level, had a brief spell in the Russian Premier League with CSKA Moscow in 2011.
South Korea are unbeaten in six games under new coach Paulo Bento and will be one of the favourites to win the Jan. 5-Feb. 2 Asian Cup in the United Arab Emirates, where they will play Philippines, China and Kyrgyzstan in Group C.
Bento's East Asia-based players will assemble for the training camp in Ulsan next week and the Portuguese will name his final squad on Dec. 20, Yonhap news agency reported. (Reporting by Nick Mulvenney, editing by Amlan Chakraborty)
