The Chile forward played in Lukaku to seal United's progress to the fourth round after Juan Mata had opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the third round clash at Old Trafford.
It marked a fifth straight win for United under Solskjaer since Jose Mourinho's sacking before Christmas with Sanchez showing glimpses of his old form in a United shirt.
Sanchez was forced to depart the scene early due to a suspected hamstring injury after the hour mark, but prompted a moment of humour when he mistakenly sat down on the manager's seat in the home dugout.
“I think he will be okay, he was tired. Hopefully it is not a bad reaction. We shall see," said Solskajer, who faces the biggest test of his short tenure against Tottenham at Wembley in the Premier League a week on Sunday.
