Barnsley played well but Chelsea had just about enough. They play Sheffield United at home in the quarters.

Barnsley win a free-kick 40 yards out, and up comes Collins. The line is on the edge and the ball in isn't a good one, Zouma winning it and Abraham winning a free-kick.

As countless people have said countless times over the years, if [insert name of lower division club] play like this every week. they'll be a lot higher than they are.

There'll be three added minutes.

Barnsley win a throw and Frieser goes to hurl it in, but Abraham gets up brilliantly, taking a bang on the shoulder in the act of heading behind, but refusing treatment so he can defend the resultant corner. Excellent behaviour, and Kepa gets a free-kick from the corner.

Dike runs in behind and Mowatt finds him, but he lashes high and wide at the near post. Then the flag goes up. Other than that, though, it was a great effort.

And here's Woodrow, finding space outside the box before lamping a shot that flies off to who knows where.

Barnsley have had a real good go at this. They've not created much in the second half, but they've not been under siege either.

If Chelsea hang on here, I daresay Tuchel will call it a result. He's rested almost all his starting XI and has a lot of big games imminent - the Champions League starts again, plus his team have work to do in the league if they're to play in it next season (unless they win it)>

Chelsea send Kovacic on for Pulisic, who's been disappointing.

Hudson-Odoi finds space again and again works the space for a shot. this time shaping to curl into the far top corner but missing by plenty.

I think this is going to sound weird, but I think there are more good young players in the world than there's ever been before, and by far. I guess it stands to reason - more people playing, better academies, more money, better fitness - but the standard and quantity of players seems to have exploded in the last five years.

Tino Anjorin comes on for his fifth Chelsea appearance, replacing Ziyech.
