ANOTHER LIVERPOOL CHANCE - DIAZ HITS THE POST!
Diaz goes close again! His shot clips the outside of the post!
Mane plays his fellow attacker in with a nice through ball towards the right side of the box, and the Columbian takes a couple of touches before going for goal from inside the area but it strikes the woodwork! Mendy looked like he had it covered.

ALMOST A BEAUTY BY DIAZ!
A great effort by Diaz that narrowly goes over the bar!
The attacker receives the ball on the edge of the box, and opts to cut inside onto his right foot and bend an effort towards the top corner, but it just has too much height on it, and it goes over!

CLOSE!
Pulisic with another chance that goes just wide!
Mount initially crosses the ball into the box from the left, but it misses everyone. Luckily, James is there on the right to pick up the loose ball. The wing-back does well to react quickly and play a cut-back into the box for Pulisic, who is just inside the area, but his effort goes narrowly wide!

STRAIGHT AT MENDY!
Mendy makes a comfortable save at his near post to hold on to a strike from Keita from a tight angle.
Thiago plays the ball out wide to the Guinea international, but the midfielder's first time strike from range lacks the power and Mendy is untroubled.

CHELSEA CHANGE IMPENDING
N'Golo Kante is stripped on the bench and taking on instructions. It looks like he may replace Mateo Kovacic in midfield for Chelsea.
The Croatian is still not fully fit, and was not expected to complete the ninety minutes today, so this change was to be expected.

REWIND: ALONSO HITS THE BAR

JUST WIDE OF THE FAR POST!
Liverpool have another chance but they cannot take it!
Robertson wins the ball back on the left flank, before playing it for Mane, who quickly feeds in Keita. The midfielder then plays a lovely weighted through ball out wide to Jota on the right-hand edge of the box.
The Portuguese attacker then arrows in a shot across goal from the edge of the area, looking for the far corner, but it narrowly goes wide!

CRUCIAL INTERVENTION!
Another crucial challenge is put in - this time by Trent Alexander-Arnold to deny Pulisic at the far post! James makes a great underlapping run down the right channel, before arrowing in a low cross, but the Liverpool man is there to make a crucial interception.
Minutes later, James had room to cross again, this time from deep, but his beautifully whipped ball from the right byline narrowly misses Alonso at the far post, as the wing-back cannot connect!

WHAT AN EFFORT FROM DIAZ!
So close for Liverpool! Jota does really well to play in Diaz, but the forward does even better to shift the ball around onto his right foot with a couple of touches and he then has a go from the edge of the box. His effort narrowly goes wide of the post!

OFF THE BAR!
Chelsea win a free-kick on the edge of the box on the right-hand side, as Reece James is fouled.
Alonso opts to strike it rather than deliver in a cross, and his effort smacks the top of the crossbar! Alisson was beaten!

JUST WIDE!
Smart play by Mason Mount, who kknows he is in an offside position on the right flank, and leaves the ball for Pulisic to chase. The American then sends in a quick ball back across the box, which Alonso meets, but his effort goes just wide of the far post!

HALF-TIME: CHELSEA 0-0 LIVERPOOL
It is half-time here at Wembley, and the score remains goalless here in North West London. Craig Pawson calls time on the first period.
No goals, but it has been an entertaining from a neutral perspective. Liverpool started the game on top, but Chelsea have since come back into it.
Losing Mo Salah to injury has been a blow for Jurgen Klopp's side.
