Here comes the draw, the great Andy Cole administering in a cardigan. You can't have everything.

The fifth-round draw is almost upon us...

I daresay Klopp is mustard to win this competition. He excellent side are nearing the end at a group, and though their league title and Champions League are not to be sneezed at, they'll feel they're better than just two trophies. And with Man City looking certs to win the former again. the League Cup final Liverpool have already made, along with this trophy, must look extremely appealing.

Cardiff won the cup in 1927, the only time the trophy has left England...
11:28
Steve Morrison is happy he's getting to walk out at Anfield as a manager and is looking forward to his players showing how good they are.

Jurgen Klopp says he changes the team because of the intensity of the season, but given his players have had time off, he can pick his best ones. He also hopes to get minutes for Elliott and Diaz, and if the game's not going well it make sense to bring on attacking players. Diaz, he says is a "very nice fella" but they've not got a common language at the moment - though he can speak very nicely to his assistant. As for the cup, he notes that everyone loves the stories as long as it's not you on the wrong end of them, and he enjoyed the Kidderminster-West Ham game. Cardiff have brought in some young players, who he expects to go for it.
11:24
I'd still expect Cardiff to play 5-3-2, which makes sense - they'll want to deny Liverpool space in attack, but have a couple of players up in case anything happens in that area.
11:21
Cardiff have made few changes, presumably prioritising their relegation battle - an understandable but dangerous strategy, giving the hiding potential, already significant, is now increased. Following their midweek win at Barnsley, Smithiers, Drammeh, Morrison, Doughty, Doyle, Wintle, Vaulks, Hugill and Watters all drop out; Phillips, Flint, Dewham, Vaulks, King, Pack, Bagan, Collins and Harris come in.

11:14
Ah yes, and Konate is at centre-back instead of Matip, but I'd expect to see that happen more often over the next few months.
11:10
Liverpool are without Salah and Mane, who meets in today's Afcon final, but are close to full-strength otherwise. Alisson misses out entirely, while Robertson is on the bench - they're replaced by Kelleher and Tsimikas respectively. Otherwise, though, this could easily pass for a first XI of available players, though the midfield, with Keita and Jones both picked, has an attacking bent. On the bench, meanwhile, is the returning Harvey Elliott - he looked so good before getting injured and will soon have his place back, I shouldn't wonder - while Luis Diaz is in the squad for the first time since signing from Porto.
