The 23-year-old Austrian international joined Spurs from Koln in the 2015 summer transfer window for a reported fee of £4.3m, and his new deal has extended his initial deal with the club by a year - adding improved personal terms following an impressive debut season.
Wimmer came into the Tottenham side when Jan Vertonghen picked up an injury in January and went on to make 11 Premier League appearances alongside Toby Alderweireld at the heart of the Spurs back-four.
The young defender was selected in the Austria squad for this summer’s European Championship, but made just one appearance as a late substitute in the goalless group-stage draw with Portugal.
