  • Man City confirm Pep Guardiola will replace Manuel Pellegrini as manager in the summer.
  • Stoke agree £18.2m fee for Porto midfielder Giannelli Imbula
  • West Brom's Saido Berahino set to stay at the club despite other interest.
  • Newcastle clinch loan move for Roma forward Seydou Doumbia.
  • Leicester miss out on Loic Remy and Mame Biram Diouf.
  • Mathieu Debuchy joins Bordeaux on loan from Arsenal.
  • Everton land striker Oumar Niasse from Lokomotiv Moscow for £13.5m
  • Watford break transfer record for Abdoulaye Doucoure from Rennes, loan him to Granada

The transfer window closes at (UK time):

  • 22:00 - Italy, Turkey
  • 23:00 - England and Rest of Europe
  • Midnight - Scotland
  • 17:00 - Germany (tomorrow)

All quiet on the transfer front, so I'm going to call it. That's us done for the January transfer window. Thanks so much for following it al with us!

A selection of the reaction to Norwich's capture of James Maddison right at the end of the window. A coup for the club, and a blow for Liverpool.

LATE DEAL! Norwich announce the signing of Coventry midfielder James Maddison. He rejoins the club on loan for the rest of the season though. A big talent apparently.

ANY NEWS ON FALCAO? It doesn't appear that he got a move to Spain so, as the Telegraph reporter below suggests, he may have to make do with China, where the transfer window closes on February 26. What a shocking and sad fall from grace.

If it's an international transfer, clubs have until midnight to finalise moves which have already been lodged with FIFA's transfer system. Domestic deals have until 1am. But to be honest, I don't think we are waiting for anything now.

TOTAL: £172,650,000 was spent by Premier League clubs in January - will any more be added in moves which just made it on time?

THE TRANSFER WINDOW HAS CLOSED! Did any clubs get late deals through before the cut-off time? Did Manchester United sign Elabdellaoui?

DONE DEAL! Still time for a departure at Leicester City, but shame they couldn't get hold of the striker they so desperately wanted.

Just 15 minutes left of the window now and that's all the big deals done - at least the ones we were expecting. Maybe there's a surprise in what little time remains...

DONE DEAL! And it's the biggest deal of the night! Stoke City have come through late on to sign Giannelli Imbula from FC Porto for £18.3m! It's a club record for the Potters and a statement of intent.

DONE DEAL! Midfielder Marco van Ginkel has ended his unfruitful loan spell with Stoke City to join PSV on loan instead from Chelsea.

This is a lovely back page from The Times.

Good lord, what have we become? Shut it down. Shut it all down.

DONE DEAL! A good move for Championship club Blackburn Rovers who have snared Sunderland playmaker Jordi Gomez. He's a stylish player when the mood takes him.

STRANGE ONE: Saido Berahino breaks his silence with a rather strange tweet, which appears to suggest he will be staying at West Brom.

DONE DEAL! QPR midfielder Leroy Fer, who has been relegated for the past two seasons, has joined Swansea on loan. Good luck with that one....

Niasse has also given his first interview to the club's official website, highlighting Everton's focus on youth and describing the Toffees as a "good family".

Opta bring the knowledge about Everton's new £13.5m recruit, Oumar Niasse. It's an encouraging outlook about a player many will know next to nothing about.

DONE DEAL! No signings at Leicester City but there has been an exit with defender Richie de Laet off to join Middlesbrough on loan. Boro have been busy, capturing Jordan Rhodes from Blackburn too.

DONE DEAL! Manchester United midfielder Nick Powell has joined Hull City on loan until the end of the season. Yes, the same Nick Powell who replaced Juan Mata as Manchester United lost 3-2 to Wolfsburg.

BAD NEWS FOR LEICESTER FANS: Sky Sports say the club have failed to sign any new players today. Chelsea stalled on Loic Remy and eventually decided against letting him out on loan, and with Stoke keeping hold of Mame Biram Diouf, the club ran out of options. Not good for the league leaders as they go into the rest of the season with three strikers: Jamie Vardy, Shinji Okazaki and Leonardo Ulloa.

TOTALIZER: Here's a good breakdown of the January spending, which has taken Premier League clubs over the £1bn mark for the first time this season.

And here's pictorial evidence of the day's strangest deal.

DONE DEAL! And now they come thick and fast. Yaya Sanogo completes a loan move from Arsenal to Charlton having done little at Ajax. Both Alex Song and Francis Coquelin benefited from spells at The Valley.

DONE DEAL! Sunderland have confirmed that striker Steven Fletcher - who has scored four goals this season - is off to French club Marseille. A bit of a strange one, but good luck to him as he swaps Wearside for the South of France.

DONE DEAL! And it's another big one! Now Everton shell out £13.5m for Lokomotiv Moscow striker Oumar Niasse! That's the biggest deal of deadline day so far, although it could be eclipsed by Stoke's move for Imbula.

DONE DEAL! And it's a big one as Championship goal machine Jordan Rhodes finally moves from Blackburn to Middlesbrough.

DONE DEAL! Arsenal have confirmed that right-back Mathieu Debuchy has joined Bordeaux on loan for the rest of the season. There's two reasons for this move. Firstly, Hector Bellerin is absolutely brilliant. Secondly, as Arsenal explain:

" A France international, Debuchy returns to his homeland for the opportunity of regular football ahead of Euro 2016 this summer."
Tottenham Hotspur's Christian Eriksen in action with Arsenal's Mathieu Debuchy

DONE DEAL! Right, this needs some explaining. Watford, owned by the Pozzo family, have just signed 18-year-old forward Adalberto Penaranda from Udinese, also owned by the Pozzo family. He has spent the first half of the season at Granada, owned by the Pozzo family, and after joining Pozzo-owned Watford will again be loaned to Pozzo club Granada. Pozzo.

DONE DEAL! Valencia have confirmed the capture of Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev on loan from Real Madrid. It's a piece of good news for the under-pressure Gary Neville, who is yet to win a home game.

MULLER STAYS: Thomas Muller reveals he is going nowhere. Not that anyone had serious aspirations of signing the Bayern Munich star this January. Now, the summer could be a different story...

A selection of the reaction to the news that United might be signing Omar Elabdellaoui. Many tweets were not printable on a family website.

Here's more on the United interest in Elabdellaoui, from the Daily Mail:

" Olympiacos want a £2.5m loan fee for the 24-year-old right-back with a £7.5m permanent obligation to kick-in if he plays a set amount of games. United are considering whether to proceed knowing that Matteo Darmian is pushing for a return to fitness as is Phil Jones, while Guillermo Varela impressed against Derby after they blocked his proposed loan to Genoa. "
Olympiacos' Omar Elabdellaoui

LATE MOVE FOR UNITED? The Manchester Evening News say a move could be in the offing for Olympiacos right-back Omar Elabdellaoui. He started his career at... Manchester City. Agent Jim Solbakken said:

" The interest of Manchester United is in place. We will see what happens during the night."
Omar Elabdellaoui, Manchester City (PA Sport)

Oh, this is tremendous.

FER GOD'S SAKE: Swansea City are close to adding another midfielder with Leroy Fer set to make the move from QPR, according to reports.

DONE DEAL? Steven Fletcher is set to make the unexpected move from Sunderland to Marseille and the Telegraph say this has now been completed.

Scotland's Steven Fletcher struck three times against Gibraltar

JT TO QATAR? it's not really a deadline day issue but the Mirror are reporting that John terry has been offered a big-money move to Qatar with Al Arabi. The Chelsea captain revealed at the weekend that he will not be offered a new deal - although that seems open to interpretation at Chelsea's end.

DONE DEAL! And it's one out of left-field. Feyenoord forward Colin Kazim-Richards has joined Celtic on a two-and-a-half year deal. Kazim Kazim, as he was known during his time in Turkey, has had spells with Brighton and Blackburn amongst a few other clubs, and recently got into trouble for threatening a reporter.

REMY UPDATE: Sky Sports say Leicester are getting encouragement from Leicester that they could seal a loan move for French striker Loic Remy. But they speculate that Storm Henry could scupper the move, making a helicopter trip impossible.

Loic Remy celebrates after scoring the first goal for Chelsea

Watford have announced that club record signing Abdoulaye Doucoure has been immediately loaned to Granada, another club owned by the Pozzo family. Bit of a strange one, but that's modern football.

Falcao's record in England has been an abomination with five goals in 40 appearances, but at Atletico between 2011 and 2013 he scored 70 goals in 91 appearances. In between, he suffered a serious cruciate ligament injury which might explain those statistics. Here's what the Telegraph are reporting:

" Spanish sources have told Telegraph Sport that Falcao has spent transfer deadline day in a Madrid hotel while his agent Jorge Mendes attempts to negotiate the complicated move with Atletico, Monaco and Chelsea. The fact Chelsea allowed Falcao to travel to Madrid and take a break from his recovery from a thigh injury shows they are more than happy to let him go."
Radamel Falcao of Atletico Madrid (AFP)

BREAKING: Could we have a big bit of news before the window closes? The Telegraph are reporting that Falcao could be cutting short his loan move at Chelsea and instead moving to former club Atletico Madrid. Wow.

DONE DEAL! And Watford have broken their club transfer record with the £8m capture of Rennes midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure. The 23-year-old has represented France at every level up to Under-21.

COMMENT: GalwayGunner has this question:

" any truth behind arsenal and United trying to land Cavani for £55ML??"

No, it's gone very quiet on the Cavani front. Nothing happening there sadly. Please get your comments in using the tab at the top of the page.

Paris Saint-Germain's Uruguyan forward Edinson Cavani celebrates after scoring a goal during the French L1 football match between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Troyes at the Parc des Princes stadium in Paris on November 28, 2015.

DONE DEAL! Roma have swooped to sign Diego Perotti on loan from Genoa. The deal is costing the capital club €1m in loan fees but they have an option to sign him permanently for €9m.

DONE DEAL! Bournemouth complete the signing of Sheffield Wednesday defender Rhoys Wiggins. The left-back joined the Owls from Charlton in the summer but has done enough to earn a step-up to the big leagues. Wiggins previously had two loan spells with Bournemouth before joining the club in 2010 and spending a year there.

RHODES SET FOR MOVE: It could be the biggest deal of the day so far, by some distance. Middlesbrough appear to be getting close to the £13m signing of Blackburn goal machine Jordan Rhodes. This journalist has strong links with Boro.

SPURS SAY NO TO £50m STAR: Now this could have been a funny deal. Spurs have turned down the chance to sign Fernando Torres, according to The Sun. He doesn't exactly fit the profile of a Pochettino/Levy signing, does he?

BERAHI-NO: (Okay, we will stop with these terrible puns). Saido Berahino could have been the biggest deal of the day but it seems he will be staying at West Brom. Newcastle have signed Seydou Doumbia on loan from Roma so had no need to push through a £24m move for the Baggies striker.

Saido Berahino celebrates his first goal with team-mate Claudio Yacob

NO GO FOR ENRIQUE: Newcastle are busy signing strikers but they've been unable to bring Jose Enrique back to the club from Liverpool. The left-back isn't moving today.

DONE DEAL? Liverpool were linked with Real Madrid midfielder Denis Cheryshev earlier in the day but he is heading to Valencia on loan - a boost for Gary Neville. That's according to As, via Guillem Balague.

SANO-GO? According to the BBC, Charlton are interested in getting Yaya Sanogo on loan from Arsenal. He hasn't been doing the business so could he follow in the footsteps of Alex Song and Francis Coquelin by getting his Arsenal career back on track.

More on Bayern Munich's capture of Tasci on loan from Spartak Moscow until the end of the season. Sporting director Matthias Sammer had this to say:

" We’re delighted at the opportunity to bring a player like Serdar Tasci to FC Bayern at short notice, thanks to his quality and experience, he’s in a position to help us at once."
Serdar Tasci

FOXES STAR ON THE WAY OUT: Yes, Richie de Laet, formerly of Manchester United, is poised to join Middslesbrough on loan until the end of the season, according to the BBC. He has made over 100 league starts for the club since joining from United in 2012.

Aston Villa's Jack Grealish (right) and Leicester City's Ritchie De Laet (left) battle for the ball

DONE DEAL! Bayern Munich needed a centre-back after an injury to Jerome Boateng and by jove they've got one. Serdar Tasci has signed from Spartak Moscow, as you can see below. Big fan of denim. He used to play for Stuttgart until 2013, when he moved to Russia, and has 14 Germany caps.

ODEMWIN-GO? It wouldn't be a transfer deadline day without a report involving Peter Odemwingie. Remember when he turned up to QPR to try and get a move, but had to stay in his car chatting to Sky Sports News?

Peter Odemwingie in his car

MARSEILLE MOVE: Not content with closing in on a deal for Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher, Marseille are now being linked with a move for Stoke's Peter Odemwingie. Sky Sports say the French club have had an offer turned down.

Peter Odemwingie (PA Sport)

DONE DEAL! Eder, the striker signed by Swansea for £5m from Braga in the summer has joined French club Lille. He failed to score in 15 appearances for the Swans and moves to Ligue 1 until the end of the season.

TEIXEIRA DEAL OFF: A quick reminder of one of the deals that won't happen. Liverpool's pursuit of Shakhtar Donetsk star Alex Teixeira won't be a success as the Ukrainians are holding him to his £53m release clause. However, expect the link to resurface in the summer.

Shakhtar Donetsk's Brazilian midfielder Alex Teixeira (R) celebrates with Shakhtar Donetsk's Brazilian midfielder Dentinho

SILVA'S TOUGH LEARNING CURVE: Remember when Real Madrid signed Lucas Silva? Well, they subsequently loaned the Brazilian to Marseille, an agreement which could now be cut short to enable him to go to Belgian club Anderlecht. "We are in talks," said Herman Van Holsbeeck, manager of Anderlecht.

Lucas Silva (OM) contre Braga en Ligue Europa

LEICESTER NARROW TARGETS TO THREE: Sky Sports are reporting that Leicester want to sign a striker before the window closes, and they have three targets left to pursue. They are (in order of preference): Ahmed Musa, Dwight Gayle and Loic Remy.

Ahmed Musa (CSKA Moscow) – PSV

BORDEAUX HOPEFUL ON DEBUCHY: Bordeaux are hopeful they will get a deal for Arsenal's Mathieu Debuchy across the line, says president Jean Louis Triaud:

" I do not confirm the arrival of Mathieu Debuchy but it is a possibility we are exploring and are hoping for."
Mathieu Debuchy (Arsenal)

NEWCASTLE WANT ENRIQUE: Does this actually make a sort of sense?

BAYERN JOIN BLUES IN HUNT FOR YOUNGSTER: Apparently Bayern Munich are in the race to sign Bologna midfielder Amadou Diawara. The 18-year-old had previously attracted the interest of Chelsea, but the Germans are believed to be the frontrunners for a summer deal.

DONE DEAL: Sampdoria bring back Fabio Quagliarella, who turned up for the signing looking like his school's most popular geography teacher...

IMBULA UPDATE: Stoke boss Mark Hughes has confirmed that the club hope to clinch a deal for midfielder Giannelli Imbula.

"He's travelling as we speak and we hope to get it done today."

He also discussed a potential deal for Saido Berahino:

"We've been mentioned how we might be in the market for a West Brom player but they've been consistent in their message (he's not for sale]."
Mark Hughes sees no reason why Stoke cannot win the Capital One Cup

PARDS WANTS TERRY: Alan Pardew has joked (we assume) about bringing John Terry to Crystal Palace in the summer. Good luck with that one...

"I've bumped into John Terry on occasion and asked him many times to join me. He always sniggers at the suggestion. Of course I will ask one more time. I'm sure I'll bump into him again and ask the question."

BERAHINO UPDATE: West Brom expect Saido Berahino to be at the club tomorrow, assistant boss Dave Kemp has confirmed (Tony Pulis is busy, presumably with other transfer business).

"Saido picked up a slight knock in training but we are hoping he will be fit for tomorrow. He is in the squad for tomorrow's game (against Swansea) would expect that, I haven't heard anything different and I expect him to be around for the rest of the season."

TEIXEIRA DEAL UNLIKELY: Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp does not seem to expect any incoming transfers today, which means no Alex Teixeira until the summer at least...

"I don't think something will happen in terms of incomings."

DONE DEAL: Barcelona full-back Martin Montoya has joined Real Betis on loan until the end of the season, after his similar spell at Inter Milan in the first half of the campaign did not go as planned.

AU REVOIR, FLETCH: Looks like Steven Fletcher is indeed heading to Marseille until the end of the season (when his contract expires anyway). But does that mean Michy Batshuayi is off somewhere before the window shuts?

DONE DEAL: Another expected move now confirmed, Alex Pritchard has left Spurs for West Brom on loan. A step up for the midfielder, after impressing at Brentford last season.

DONE DEAL: Newcastle have now confirmed the Seydou Doumbia news.

BERAHINO UPDATE: Important news this, as the BBC reports that the weather up north is windy enough that helicopters and small aircraft will likely be grounded. So if Berahino is to go to Newcastle, they will need to allow extra time for him to travel by conventional means....

Newcastle are still interested in Saido Berahino, according to reports

DONE DEAL: Elsewhere in Europe, Hamburg have signed Josip Drmic on loan. But who cares? Guardiola's going to Manchester City!

DONE DEAL: Manchester City have torpedoed this whole deadline day farrago, and announced that Pep Guardiola has agreed to replace Manuel Pellegrini at the end of the season. Big, big news.

Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola is not a fan of the Bundesliga's winter break

DONE DEAL: Manchester City youngster Patrick Roberts has joined Celtic on loan until the end of the season.

Patrick Roberts, Fulham

BORDEAUX ENTER DEBUCHY RACE: French side Bordeaux might be the new front-runners for Mathieu Debuchy, if the media over there are to be believed. Arsene Wenger has already confirmed Arsenal are willing to cut a deal.

IMBULA NEWS! Reports now that Stoke have agreed a fee for Giannelli Imbula, believed to be around £18m. Could well end up being comfortably the biggest deadline day deal, if it goes through.

DONE DEAL: Like buses, Spurs have let another central defender go - this time Federico Fazio back to Sevilla (as expected).

DONE DEAL: Ex-Spurs defender Milos Veljkovic has joined Werder Bremen on a permanent deal, although the German club will perhaps need a bit of time to learn how to spell his name...

GARDE FEARS ENDING DAY EMPTY-HANDED: It does not sound like it will be a triumphant deadline day at Villa Park, with manager Remi Garde suggesting the club have missed out on targets Seydou Doumbia, Lovre Kalinic and Mathieu Debuchy in part because of finances.

"I’m not happy about this situation. I am not stupid saying we need nobody. Probably the club realised mistakes has been made in the past, probably they didn’t want to do it again."

BERAHINO UPDATE: Saido Berahino has apparently already left West Brom's training ground today, but the club say it is because of a knock he picked up at the weekend - nothing more. If he is injured, would that affect any theoretical medical elsewhere anyway?

So here is where we stand at the minute, with a bit less than 11 hours until the window closes in England.

  • Newcastle still biggest bidders for Saido Berahino, but have also signed Seydou Doumbia on loan
  • Everton completing final details on £13.5m deal for striker Oumar Niasse
  • Jordan Rhodes to Middlesbrough could be back on
  • Abdoulaye Doucoure to Watford in £8m deal set to be confirmed
  • Giannelli Imbula has missed training at Porto amid reports of a move to Stoke.
  • Mathieu Debuchy could be going on loan to Sunderland ... or Man United.
Jordan Rhodes has scored 11 goals for Blackburn this season

CARDIFF SIGN SECOND PLAYER: Cardiff, currently banned from signing players for a fee, are now the busiest side on transfer deadline day....

DONE DEAL: One for the future at Carrow Road...

REDS SNUB SINCLAIR OFFER: Watford are dangling £3m in front of Liverpool for striker Jerome Sinclair, but Liverpool do not want to sell as they apparently 'want to use the youngster as a makeweight in another deal'. Another deal! But who are they hoping to sign with the help of the 18-year-old?

IMBULA UPDATE: Informed reports in Portugal say that Giannelli Imbula has missed training at Porto today. Not being ill or otherwise engaged, they seem to believe that means a transfer could well be in the offing for the midfielder - Stoke have been strongly linked for much of the month.

WATFORD TO CLINCH DOUCOURE DEAL: He is expected to be loaned straight out, but Watford look poised to break their transfer record and sign Rennes midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure for around £8m.

UNITED IN FOR ... DEBUCHY?! It might seem a convenient rumour (United need full-back cover, Arsenal are willing to offload the Frenchman) but the Daily Mail are claiming that Manchester United will approach the Gunners over 'the new Mikael Silvestre', Mathieu Debuchy. That deal would surely thrill both sets of supporters...

ROBINHO WANTS PL RETURN: Hardly a success the first time around, rumours abound that Robinho wants back in the Premier League - with representatives tapping up Swansea and Leicester about their interest. The Foxes might have some wage bill to play with - Hamburg apparently want midfielder Gokhan Inler on loan.

DONE DEAL: Newcastle have signed forward Seydou Doumbia on loan from Roma, assuming he passes a medical etc. etc. etc. A big move! An actual big deal done! But does that mean no Berahino on Tyneside today?

Seydou Doumbia (CSKA Moscow)

DEBUCHY TO SUNDERLAND: That's the latest word, with Aston Villa apparently having pulled out of a loan deal for the full-back. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said today that he is willing to let Debuchy go, but isn't sure that striking a (temporary) deal will be possible...

DONE DEAL: 'From Trabzonspor to Bologna for no fee - the Kevin Constant story'...

RHODES ON THE MOVE: Sky Sports are reporting that Jordan Rhodes has already been and gone from Blackburn's training ground - could he be off somewhere to negotiate personal terms? A move to Middlesbrough publicly collapsed yesterday, but Aitor Karanka's side are still desperate to sign a striker (with Ross McCormack the latest to be linked)...

ICARDI AVAILABLE? One Italian outlet reckons Inter would part with Mauro Icardi if someone pays €25m, which is about £19m in today's money. If true that would surely make more sense than paying £25m for Berahino ... but we would take such rumours with a real pinch of salt.

FAZIO RETURNS: Looks like Federico Fazio's impending loan move back to Sevilla is pretty much nailed on.

SAINTS DENY REPORTS: Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has denied a couple of stories floating around, suggesting that Graziano Pelle could be leaving the club for Italy - and/or Ahmed Musa could be coming in.

"No. I mentioned several times, nobody will leave the club in January. I know (Musa) but he was and is not on our list."

QUIZ TIME: Amid the light relief of news and rumours, here's some serious scientific study to get your teeth stuck into. Which transfer deadline day star are you? We got Marouane Fellaini, so hopefully you have a bit more star power than that...

ODEMWINGIE ON THE MOVE: French media reckon Peter Odemwingie, keen to clinch a possible move to Marseille, has skipped training at Stoke and has already boarded a flight to France. Which seems perfectly in character...

BERAHINO UPDATE: I sense we are going to have a few of these today ... Sky Sports are confident that the striker is 'not going anywhere today'. Newcastle look the most persistent suitors, but they are unfortunately also the club their relegation rivals least want to sell to...

Newcastle are still interested in Saido Berahino, according to reports

TOFFEES TO SIGN NIASSE: According to media reports, Senegalese striker Oumar Niasse is now having a medical at Everton ahead of a potential £13.5m move...

Lokomotiv Moscow's Baye Oumar Niasse celebrates after scoring a goal against Skenderbeu Korce during their Europa League group H soccer match in Moscow, Russia, October 1, 2015

DONE DEAL: Another done deal, this time from the Championship. Cardiff get Zohore...

MARSEILLE COULD BE BUSY: One club to watch today might be Marseille, with a veritable striker merry-go-round being hinted at by the club. Current player Michy Batshuayi could be off to Stoke, while Steven Fletcher (!) and Peter Odemwingie (!!) have been linked with a loan move to Ligue 1.

BAYERN WON'T BUY: Despite losing Jerome Boateng to injury, Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has ruled out the club signing anybody today or tomorrow, noting "good players are not being sold in the winter."

Jerome Boateng fehlt Bayern länger

KAZIM-RICHARDS TO CELTIC: Hardly Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, but video evidence at least that Celtic are on the verge of signing Leytonstone's most famous Turkey international, Colin Kazim-Richards.

ARSENAL WILL BE 'QUIET': That's the word straight from the horse's mouth, with Arsene Wenger being the proverbial Red Rum in this instance:

" The whole period was much quieter than I anticipated, the fact I'm here now (at a press conference) shows we'll still be quiet."

DONE DEAL: The first confirmed deal of deadline day is in the books, and it is a HUGE one. Good luck to Antonio German at Partick Thistle...

STOKE CONFIRM TRANSFER CHASE: Stoke chairman Peter Coates has just been speaking to the BBC, denying any interest in Dynamo Kiev's Andriy Yarmolenko but confirming the club are trying to get at least one deal done - believed to be Porto midfielder Giannelli Imbula or Mr. Berahino.

" We're trying to get a deal done but it's not easy. It depends on parties at the other end, we've got something on the go. We're ready if we get the right response."
Giannelli Imbula

CHERRIES ADD ANOTHER: One deal that looks set to be confirmed soon - Bournemouth have apparently had a £200,000 bid for Sheffield Wednesday full-back Rhoys Wiggins accepted. Wiggins would provide a bit of defensive cover for Eddie Howe's side.

DEMBELE REVISITED? Reports abound that Fulham and Spurs angrily called off a deal for striker Moussa Dembele yesterday, after failing to agree over whether he would be loaned back (or not) to the Championship side. But rumours suggest there could yet be a late reconciliation on that one today...

SHUT UP SHOP: After wrapping up the loan signing of Emmanuel Emenike yesterday evening, it looks like West Ham's transfer committee are going to take today off and stay home playing FIFA (or Pro Evo, if they have unexpectedly good taste) instead. That's the word from the co-owner's son, anyway...

DEALS, DEALS, DEALS: While we wait for our first confirmed deal (we had a brief scare a minute ago, when it looked like Alex Pritchard's loan to West Brom had gone through, but apparently that was premature), here are some deals that might happen today...

RAVEL IN DEMAND: The Times reckons that Swansea are ready and willing to end Ravel Morrison's Lazio adventure (nightmare? rollercoaster?) and bring him back to England. But Bournemouth, Aston Villa and a couple of Italian clubs are also sniffing around the controversial midfielder.

ARSENAL EYE LATE DEAL: Not expected to be too busy today, the Metro reckons Arsenal may yet look to add to their youth ranks - with an improved bid for Leicester defender Ben Chilwell being claimed. The 19-year-old could cost £4m, but Claudio Ranieri does not want to sell the player...

ADAM GOING NOWHERE: Is Charlie Adam among those who could be leaving Stoke today? Well he's said he's on the move, but not to another club...

LIVERPOOL TO MISS OUT ON REAL MADRID STAR: Liverpool will not sign Real Madrid's Denis Cheryshev, who is now likely to join Sevilla on loan. Jurgen Klopp was thought to be keen on the Russian, who is looking for first-team football ahead of Euro 2016, but the Reds have not made a formal offer.

LAVEZZI REJECTS FRENCH MEGA-DEAL: PSG forward Ezequiel Lavezzi has turned down a huge offer from Chinese side Beijing Guoan that would have doubled his salary, according to l'Equipe.

ODEMWINGIE ON LOAN TO MARSEILLE: Out-of-favour Stoke forward Peter Odemwingie could be on his way to Ligue 1 side Marseille on loan for the rest of the season, according to l'Equipe.

MANCHESTER UNITED IN MOVES FOR MUSA AND SANCHES: Portugal's O Jogo claims United are in for Benfica's 18-year-old midfielder Renato Sanches in a deal reportedly worth a huge €40m. Benfica coach Rui Victoria said:

" If things happen, they happen -- everybody here knows how it is."

Meanwhile United are reportedly battling Leicester City and Southampton for CSKA Moscow's Nigerian forward Ahmed Musa - well, only one of those options gets Musa straight into a title race.

ASTON VILLA FAIL TO LAND MICHU: Aston Villa tried to sign former Swansea ace Michu, but The Sun say that the striker turned them down. Michu is with UP Langreo in the Spanish fourth division, where his brother Hernan is the manager, as he tries to get fit following 14 months out with an ankle injury. Michu has decided that instead of moving now, he will wait until the summer for a transfer to a bigger club.

LEICESTER BEAT SWANSEA TO GAYLE: Dwight Gayle isn't going to Swansea after all. The Mail claim that Leicester are going to beat the Swans to the Crystal Palace striker. Gayle is out of favour at Palace and is set for a move away from the club. It looked like he would go to Swansea, but now Leicester are preparing a £7m bid for the striker. The only thing holding up a move now is a hamstring injury that Gayle suffered in training, but if he is cleared then the Foxes will submit their bid.

DOUMBIA SNUBS VILLA FOR NEWCASTLE: Seydou Doumbia will join Newcastle for the remainder of the season, according to The Telegraph. Aston Villa were doing all they could to sign the striker from Roma, with Remi Garde calling him his top target for the winter, but Doumbia snubbed the Birmingham club. Instead, he was on Tyneside getting ready to sign on for the rest of the campaign.

From today's Papers: Saido Berahino is almost certainly on the way out of West Brom. It's just a matter of where he goes. The Mirror understand that Newcastle, Stoke and Tottenham are all in a race for the striker, with a deal of up to £25m likely to get done before the transfer deadline closes. West Brom have already turned down a £21m bid from Newcastle, but they are willing to offer even more, while the other two clubs are circling for late bids of their own.

TERRY COULD STAY AT CHELSEA: Plenty of transfer news to get stuck into on Deadline Day, but we start with word from Chelsea after John Terry announced he was leaving. A club statement claims he could yet win a new contract:

" He is a fantastic servant of Chelsea Football Club and a superb captain and, as such, the club will keep the channels of dialogue open. While no new deal currently on the table, that situation could change in the coming months."

Terry's comments actually suggested as much - he said after Chelsea's win at MK Dons:

" They said that when the new manager comes in, things might change. It's a no at the minute."
