Chelsea and Newcastle could be in contention to land forward Anthony Gordon from Everton for just £40 million as they search for their own reinforcements, while Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has said he would return to former club Barcelona. Elsewhere, Manchester United, Newcastle and Chelsea could bid for Denzel Dumfries, and West Ham could sell Michail Antonio.

Everton may reduce asking price for Gordon

Everton had been holding out for £60 million for their 21-year-old forward Anthony Gordon, but after missing training for three days, the Telegraph believes they may settle for a reduced sum in order to raise funds for their own survival bid.
The paper writes: “The club will be forced to consider an offer worth just over £40m including add-ons, which may be closer to Newcastle’s valuation.
Everton need to sell Gordon to free up funds for the club’s next manager to spend over the final days of the transfer window, although it is unlikely the club will be able to reinvest all of the cash generated because of Financial Fair Play issues.
It remains to be seen whether or not Everton dropping their asking price will encourage Chelsea to make a last-gasp bid for Gordon.

Guardiola entertains Barcelona return

Manchester City’s manager Pep Guardiola made his name with Barcelona as he racked up La Liga and Champions League victories, and the Mirror reports that while he is currently City’s manager, he would consider returning to his former club.
Guardiola had been firm in his commitment to City after firm financial backing, but ahead of the weekend’s game, he said at a press conference that he understands Mikel Arteta’s links with Arsenal in the same way as he has a relationship with Barcelona.
The Mirror states: “Guardiola told reporters this week during a press conference: 'If I'm training here, wherever and Barcelona calls me, I'll go to Barcelona, it's my club'.
“The comments were prompted by Guardiola speaking highly of Mikel Arteta, who was a first-team coach in the blue half of Manchester prior to being appointed Arsenal manager. The Spaniard was a former midfielder at the Gunners with the City boss claiming he could empathise with his situation.”

Dumfries in demand

Inter Milan’s wing-back Denzel Dumfries is linked with a potential bidding war between Manchester United, Newcastle and Chelsea by the Sun. The 26-year-old Dutch international is out of contract in 2025 and there could be moves from each side to reinforce their defensive line-up.
“Manchester United are set to face a transfer battle with their Premier League rivals for Inter Milan star Denzel Dumfries,” the report begins.
“Chelsea and Newcastle are ready to rival the Red Devils for the right-back.
“Dumfries' representatives have supposedly flown to England to hold talks with those interested.
“Inter have set a price tag of £44million, although reports suggest a £35million bid could be enough.
“The Serie A side could have to sell to help balance the books and the player's deal expires in the summer of 2025.”

Everton and Wolves keen on Antonio

Michail Antonio is ready to leave West Ham as the 32-year-old is wanted by both Nottingham Forest and Everton as they attempt to beat the drop, according to the Daily Mail. However there is a potential obstacle to a move as West Ham may still need him.
“Michail Antonio admitted on Thursday he is in talks to leave West Ham, but his club are reluctant to sell their only fit senior striker amid injuries to Gianluca Scamacca and Danny Ings,” the paper explains.
“Yet Hammers sources say the fitness of Scamacca and Ings, their new £12m signing who hurt his left knee on his debut, is a stumbling block in sanctioning a sale.
“West Ham’s stance could be tested if Antonio pushes to go but manager David Moyes is concerned about being left short in their race against relegation.”
