FULL TIME: Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 NS Mura

In the end, this has been a comfortable evening for Tottenham even if there was a spell at the start of the season half at which point it looked like they had a game on their hands.

There will be three minutes of stoppage time played at the end of the match.

  • Harry Kane

Pochettino, Antonio Conte and Paulo Fonseca were all believed to be higher on Tottenham’s list of potential managers than Nuno. Gennaro Gattuso was even mentioned as a target at one point! Nuno still has to prove himself, even after tonight.

Nuno wasn’t Tottenham’s first, second or third choice to take over as manager in the summer. How long is Daniel Levy willing to give the Portuguese coach to get it right?

Indeed, Tottenham need to be very careful that the progress they have made over the last decade or so isn’t completely erased. They need to get closer to the top four again.

Spurs find themselves at a critical juncture in their recent history. Under Mauricio Pochettino, the club had given themselves a platform, but that platform is starting to crumble away.

Many believed that Dier would be moved back into the centre of midfield after the departure of Jose Mourinho last season, but the England international is still seen as a centre back.

At the time, the capture of Romero from Atalanta was seen as something of a coup for Spurs. He was voted the best defender in Serie A and was linked with Man City and Man Utd.

One of the most baffling things about Nuno’s first two months as Tottenham manager has been the exile of Romero from the first team. Why hasn’t he played more games for Spurs? He’s been good tonight!

This has been a very impressive display by Lo Celso. He has surely played his way into the team that will start for Spurs against Aston Villa at the weekend? So influential.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Tottenham Hotspur 4 (78 mins - Harry Kane). NS Mura 1. It's a brace for Kane, but that goal was put on a plate for him by Lo Celso and Son. The former played a lovely pass in behind for the former who squared the ball for Kane to finish into the empty net from close range! Nice goal.

Lloris and Moura were both scathing of the performance produced by Tottenham against Arsenal in the North London derby. Interestingly, they had criticisms of Nuno’s game plan.

Morosa is shown a yellow card for a kick at Moura in a tackle.

It’s not just Kane who has been in poor form for Tottenham recently. Son hasn’t been himself. He is another player who Nuno needs to get more out of for his own good.

Nuno has struggled to find the right formula in the centre of the pitch. At times, the Portuguese coach has been criticised for being too safe with his midfield selections.

On comes Hjobjerg for Skipp. The Dane will get the final 20 minutes.

One wonders if Spurs might have been better selling Kane to Manchester City and then reinvesting the money in their squad to allow Nuno to make his own mark as manager.

Kane now has three goals in three Europa Conference League games this season. He needs to find a way to carry that continental form into the Premier League where he has struggled!

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Tottenham Hotspur 3 (68 mins - Harry Kane) NS Mura 1. Panic over for Spurs as they regain their two-goal cushion and it's Kane who has come off the bench to find the back of the net! Moura played a wonderful pass in behind for Kane and he finishes with a toe-poke past the goalkeeper!

At Wolves, Nuno used a back three to great effect, but he has so far played a back four in the early days of his Tottenham tenure. Might a shift to a back three help his new team?

A big part of the problem for Tottenham under Nuno right now is that it’s not clear what style of play the Portuguese coach wants to impose. It’s been a mish-mash of different ideas so far.

Skipp becomes the first Tottenham player to be shown a yellow card tonight.

Kane bursts through! Almost an instant impact by Kane who carries the ball into the box, but his shot is smothered by the Mura goalkeeper. He didn't really get his effort away.

It looks like Nuno might be about to make some changes to his team here. Tottenham have been poor at the start of the second half. They need picking up by some subs.

Chance for Docherty! That was a decent opportunity for the right back who got on the end of a corner kick into the Mura box, but he could only head over the crossbar!

Tottenham’s problems haven’t been helped by Kane’s recent form. The England international has struggled this season and is playing well within himself. Sometimes, he’s looked disinterested.

Mura are now looking to use that goal as a platform to build on. They are playing with much more confidence at the start of this second half. Tottenham have to lift things!

That serves Spurs right. They have been sluggish at the start of the second half. They have made this match difficult for themselves, although the strike from Kous was fantastic.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Tottenham Hotspur 2 NS Mura 1 (53 mins - Ziga Kous). What an incredible strike and the away team are back in this match! The corner kick was played to Kous on the edge of the box and the right wing back struck it on the full volley to find the back of the Tottenham net! Don't count out Mura yet!

This has been quite a slow start to the second half by Tottenham. They need to be careful that they don't get sucked into a contest when they should be able to kill this off.

In the first half, Lo Celso scored his first goal for Tottenham Hotspur since December 2020 when he scored in the Europa League against Royal Antwerp. He needed that.

Romero hasn't really been tested this evening. The Argentine was handed a rare start, but Mura have been so toothless that we haven't seen much of the former Atalanta man.

Tottenham were good in the first half, but Nuno will surely see an opportunity to claim a really emphatic result here to ease the pressure on top of him. Mura have been pretty poor.

  • 2nd Half

The second half is under way! Tottenham Hotspur have a 2-0 lead over NS Mura in this Europa Conference League fixture!

HALF TIME: Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 NS Mura. Nuno will be fairly pleased with what he has seen from his players in the opening 45 minutes of this match. They are well on top.

This has been a very comfortable first half for Tottenham. They started very well, got the two goals to establish a comfortable lead and have since taken their foot off the gas.

That was a good opportunity for Gil to either get a shot away or roll a pass into Scarlett, but he took a bit too long to make a decision and that allowed Mura to re-organise themselves.

That was a lovely turn by Scarlett to release himself into space, but the Mura defence recovers well to make the slide tackle on the young Tottenham Hotspur forward.

SKIPP... wide of the target! The Spurs midfielder just kept going and going until he reached the end of the opposition penalty area. However, he sticks his low strike wide of the post.

Alli header on target! The cross was played to the back post by Doherty, Alli had to backtrack to get on the end of it, but his header was too tame to beat the keeper at the near post.

Reguilon has been in decent form for Tottenham recently. While the former Real Madrid full back has his flaws as a natural defender, he offers the North London club a real outlet.

Nuno wasn't bluffing either. He rang the changes for this match and Spurs actually look better for it. They are playing with renewed urgency and tempo, although they have slowed since a hectic start.

“We will also bring in some U23s to help us, and we go for the game,” Nuno said at his press conference ahead of this match. “We have to make those decisions. All the squad will go together.”

Steven Bergwijn is still sidelined for Tottenham. The Dutch winger enjoyed a strong start to the season and so there’s a good chance Nuno is missing his influence in the attacking third.

Alli effort is saved! Obradovic has to make the stop to prevent Alli from doubling his tally for the night with a shot into the right-hand corner. The Mura goalkeeper does well, though.

There has, however, been more of a willingness from Alli to get forward so far this evening. This is the sort of thing Tottenham Hotspur fans want to see from him again!

Alli has become a bit of an enigma for Tottenham. The midfielder used to be so dangerous in the final third of the pitch, but Nuno now seems to be using him as a defensive force.

Reguilon shoots over! Space opened up for the Tottenham left back 25 yards out from goal, his strike was a powerful one, but it flashes over the crossbar with the goalkeeper not worried.

It's a rather small crowd at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for this one. This isn't the competition Spurs want to be in. They see themselves as a Champions League club.

Nuno will surely be pretty pleased with what he has seen from his Spurs team in this opening 25-minute spell. They are in control, but the hosts will want to score more goals.

Nuno has largely used Gil in the Europa Conference League. He is in the Tottenham team again this evening and one wonders when he might force his way into the Premier League XI.

Gil is one of the players who could solve Tottenham’s creativity problem. The former Sevilla man is still very unpolished, but he could bring a degree of unpredictability to Spurs’ play.

Reguilon is the only Spurs player to keep his place in the team from the North London derby defeat to Arsenal on Sunday. That just wasn't good enough from Nuno's team.

After a very fast start, Tottenham Hotspur have calmed things down a little bit in the last 10 minutes. They are still in control of the match, but they aren't playing with the same intensity.

It’s difficult to know how Tottenham Hotspur are approaching the Europa Conference League. It’s a competition they would surely like to win, but is it a priority for them?

Anything less than a victory for Spurs this evening would pile even more pressure on Nuno even though he is only two months into his new job. This is a must-win for Tottenham. Just as well they’re winning.

Dele Alli celebrates scoring for Tottenham

At Wolves, Nuno’s teams were known for being well organised at the back and being very effective in making sharp and direct counter attacks. There has been little sign of that at Spurs, though.

One of Tottenham’s biggest problems this season has been a real lack of creativity through the centre of the pitch. Indeed, the North London club have been far too easy to play against.

The quality of the opposition must be noted when talking about the start Spurs have made here, but the tempo they are playing at is much higher than it has been recently.

Spurs come into this game on the back of a damaging North London derby defeat to Arsenal. Nuno’s side were distinctly second best against the Gunners. Very poor.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Tottenham Hotspur 2 (7 mins - Giovani Lo Celso) NS Mura 0. And there's a second early goal for the home side! Lo Celso bursts into the opposition penalty area and lashes home a left-footed strike into the top corner of the Mura net! The goalkeeper had no chance of saving that one from the Argentine!

This has been a very good start from Tottenham. They are playing on the front foot and there's a real attacking edge to what they are doing in the opening exchanges of this match.

That will settle some nerves around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Now the challenge will be to build on the early lead and really put this game to bed as early as possible.

  • Dele Alli
Goal by penaltyDele AlliTottenham HotspurGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Tottenham Hotspur 1 (4 mins - Dele Alli) NS Mura 0. An early goal for Spurs and Alli has found the back of the net in the opening four minutes! The England international won the spot kick and he's the one who converts it, finding the bottom corner with a left-footed strike. Just what the home team needed.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL!

PENALTY KICK TO TOTTENHAM! Alli goes down under the challenge of the goalkeeper and the referee points to the spot!

What sort of match will we get this evening? Tottenham will naturally be strong favourites, but this competition hasn’t been smooth sailing for Nuno’s team so far this season.

The match is under way! It's Tottenham Hotspur against Mura in the Europa Conference League!

Okay, here we go. We are about to get under way in this Europa Conference League fixture. Kick off is moments away.

Can Scarlett deliver for Spurs tonight? Big things are expected of the young attacker at the club!

Mura have never before qualified for the group stage of a major European competition. They are not used to this level!

Not long until kick off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The two teams are out on the pitch and it must be said it sounds like a pretty low key atmosphere for this one.

The pressure is on Spurs this evening. They come into this match on the back of a disappointing defeat to Arsenal in the North London derby. They really need three points!

Scarlett starts! There's no sign of Harry Kane for Tottenham Hotspur tonight, but Dane Scarlett is from the start! Can the youngster deliver for the North London side in Europe!
