Raheem Sterling scored twice, with Marcus Rashford slotting home another as the Three Lions scored three unanswered goals.
And, although, Spain hit back in the second half, there was much optimism among former England players - especially following the initial burst in Seville.
Former England and Newcastle striker Shearer wrote on Twitter: "A magnificent 1st half from EVERY England player. Very very impressive."
Gary Lineker - the last player to score in Spain for England 31 years ago - was also delighted with Raheem Sterling's double after he had gone three years without a goal for his country.
He put recent criticism of the Manchester City striker in perspective, by reminding fans he had not even made his England debut at his age.
