Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness says the club had no choice to sack Carlo Ancelotti after he lost the support of five senior players.

Ancelotti was sacked following the 3-0 Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, a match for which he controversially left Mats Hummels, Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery on the bench.
Reports in Germany say the trio are among the five unnamed players cited by Hoeness, as well as defender Jerome Boateng and forward Thomas Muller.
Hoeness said that Kingsley Coman, another substitute, had been angered by Ancelotti’s team selection as well as five more senior members of the squad, who he didn’t name. Hoeness told Radio FFH:
I’ve learned a saying in my life – the enemy in your bed is the most dangerous. Therefore we had to act. The fact that, in my opinion, in the past few days the coach turned five important players against him – Coman, too, whom he also didn’t let play – at a stroke, he never would have made it.
Ancelotti is reported to be in contention to return to former club AC Milan, while Bayern are now searching for a replacement for the Italian.
Assistant Willy Sagnol is taking charge in the short term for the weekend’s match against Hertha Berlin but Hoeness says the club want a new manager in place after the international break.

“After the two-week break we want to have a solution,” Hoeness said. “This also shows we have no Plan B.”
Former Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel and current Hoffenheim manager Julian Nagelsmann are believed to be the leading contenders for the job.
