PORTO ALEGRE, Brazil, Sept 15 (Reuters) - Two second-half goals, including one from debutant Juninho Capixaba, gave an understrength Gremio a 2-0 win over bottom club Parana in Brazil's Serie A on Saturday.
The home side rested some of their first-team players but still took the lead eight minutes into the second half when Alisson was brought down in the box and veteran midfielder Douglas made no mistake from the spot.
Juninho Capixaba doubled their lead when he looped home the simplest of headers from 10 metres out after 63 minutes.
The win lifts Gremio into fourth place, five points behind leaders Internacional who play at Chapecoense on Monday.
It was Parana's 11th league game without a win and they are now eight points adrift at the bottom of the table.
