Valencia players and fans are still seething at the manner in which their Under-19 side was knocked out of the UEFA Youth League on Tuesday.

Valencia lost 5-3 on penalties to Chelsea at the Blues' Cobham training base - after Alberto Gil's opening spot-kick for Los Che was incorrectly ruled as having hit the post by the game's officials.

As extended video of the incident shows, Gil's attempt clearly crossed the goalline and should have been ruled successful - despite hitting a support pole inside the goal and coming back out.

"A terrible mistake," says the commentator ... moments after he too assumed the shot had not been on target.

It proved to be the only "miss" of the shootout, as Chelsea's five takers all converted without error.

Valencia's official website reported that some of the club's players were left in tears by the incident.

Valencia have already announced that they have lodged a formal protest with UEFA over the result. UEFA are yet to comment on the incident.
