England Women's World Cup squad announced: Izzy Christiansen misses out
Updated 08/05/2019 at 15:30 GMT
Izzy Christiansen has not been named by Phil Neville in England Women's World Cup squad after failing to prove her fitness since breaking her ankle in March.
Christiansen picked up the injury in the SheBelieves Cup match against Japan and had surgery shortly afterwards - but Neville has opted against selecting her, looking to Birmingham midfielder Lucy Staniforth in her place.
The squad was revealed by a host of famous faces on social media over several hours on Wednesday.
Prince William announced defender Steph Houghton's spot in a video message: "It gives me great pleasure to be able to announce that England's defensive rock and captain Steph Houghton will be on the plane to France. Steph - congratulations. I know you and the team will do the nation proud. Good luck!"
Neville will host a news conference at Wembley Stadium later on Wednesday.
Other early announcements included striker Ellen White - revealed by TV host and actor James Corden - and left back Alex Greenwood who was announced by singer Olly Murs, before more names soon followed...
The World Cup will feature 24 teams, and takes place across France from June 7-July 7.
England are one of the favourites for the tournament this year. Their best result was a third-place finish in 2015 in Canada.
