Canada (W)
Canada have enjoyed 62 per cent of possession and this time Prince gets in behind the Sweden defence on the right but the final ball is distinctly lacking as good defending from Jakobsson allows Sweden to escape unharmed.
A well-timed run from Prince, but it was a pity about the cross.

Schmidt is the best player of the park by a mile so far, and this time she puts a delightful ball with the outside of the right boot, first time, down the line to Beckie, and well that's disappointing.
The ball is dribbled out of play. Schmidt's ball deserveda lot better.

OVER! Sinclair lofts the ball forward, Sembrandt's clearance is right onto the boot of Fleming but she can't keep her volley down! That's Canada's best chance so far and Fleming ought to have done much better!

Rolfo manages to escape Fleming down the left as she embarks on a determined run that deserved better. Asllani then shows good strength to turn and dig out a cross, but Schmidt is there once more to clear.
WIDE! Jakobsson bursts into space as the Canada defence backs off but she drags her shot from outside of the box wide of the target. That's the first attempt from either side and Labbe wasn't at all troubled.

Sinclair puts a lovely ball down the left to set Beckie on ther way, but Glas shows a fine turn of pace to eat up the ground and concede the corner.
Fleming swings it in and as Schmidt tries to pounce on the loose ball, anywhere will do for Jakobsson.
This one already looks like it might go to penalties...

Fleming does well to wrestle the ball for Canada in the centre-circle before the move comes through Lawrence down the right once more but Rolfo does well to track back to snuff out the danger. Sweden haven't got hold of the ball yet.
CHANCE! Seger puts in a fine pass to Blackstenius that is well read by Buchanan and the danger is averted!

Canada have made the brighter start, and Lawrence got forward to good effect before Glas eases Sinclair out of reaching the ball at the far post.
Chapman wins Canada the corner, which Beckie takes... Lindahl gets caught underneath it and she's grateful to Seger being in the right place to head the ball behind for another corner.
The final touch from the ensuing cross then comes off Schmidt and Sweden can clear their lines.

Not the best of clearances from a nervous Labbe as she knocks the ball straight out for a Sweden throw-in.
Schmidt has seen plenty of early ball and it is clear from these early stages that the Canadians will try to exploit the channels as Chapman just can't find Beckie down the left.

Schmidt, sporting short pink hair, is quick to close the ball down and win Canada possession. But Lawrence is unable to find Prince down the flank and Sweden look to play out from the back.

THE TEAMS ARE OUT!
Kate Jacewicz from Australia is tonight's match official while Jose Maria Sanchez of Spain is in charge of VAR, crucially.
The national anthems were passionate and and out of the way and we are all set to go.
Canada are in their changed strip of white for some reason with Sweden in their traditional yellow and blue on a warm, sultry evening in the French capital.

LAST ENCOUNTER
Neither Sweden nor Canada have ever won the World Cup, and their only tournament meeting was in the semi-finals in 2003, when the Swedes came from behind to win 2-1 in Portland.
Kara Lang gave Canada a 64th-minute opener but goals from Malin Mostrom and Josefine Oqvist sent Sweden into the final, where they were beaten 2-1 to Germany (after extra-time).

MATCH STATS
  • Sweden have not kept a clean sheet in a knockout match at the Women's World Cup since their 4-0 victory over Germany in a third-place play-off encounter in 1991 - they have conceded 17 goals in their nine such matches since.
  • Only Therese Sjogran (18) has represented Sweden more often at the Women's World Cup than current goalkeeper Hedvig Lindahl, who played her 16th such match during her side's defeat by USA last time out.
  • With 182 goals for her country since her debut in 2000, Christine Sinclair is closing in on being the top international football scorer - of any gender - in the world. The record is currently held by former USA forward Abby Wambach (184).

DOES PARIS KNOW A WORLD CUP IS GOING ON?
It has been one of the talking points of the group stages, but while France's capital was awash with colour just 12 months ago with the World Cup going to plan in Russia, you can walk around Paris and barely know a major tournamanet was taking place.
From the crowded Place du Trocadero, a stroll along the River Seine and mooch about the Jardin des Tuileries from the Place de la Concorde, there has not been quite the same buzz.
But the Parc des Princes, the venue for tonight's match, has boasted strong attendances - especially France's opening match with South Korea - while 45,000 spectators crammed in to see USA beat Chile.

WHO ARE IN THE LAST EIGHT?
World Cup holders USA scraped through by the skin of their teeth earlier today as they overcame Spain 2-1 to join Germany, Norway, England and France in the last eight.
Only Germany are on the same side of the draw as tonight's teams, however, as nations begin to plot their route to the final.
Tournament favourites France, USA and England cannot meet in the final.
Italy face China and the Netherlands take on Japan in the two other last 16 encounters that fall on this side of the draw. But there's no easy side, right?

KEY STATS
  • Sweden and Canada have met once before at the Women's World Cup, during the semi-finals of the 2003 tournament, with Spain winning 2-1 before losing to Germany in the final.
  • On the two previous occasions Canada have progressed from the group stages at the Women's World Cup, they have won their first knockout match - beating China 1-0 in the quarter finals in 2003, and Switzerland 1-0 in the last 16 in 2015.
  • Canada have lost 11 of their 13 previous meetings with European sides at the Women's World Cup (W1 D1). Indeed, they have only scored more than one goal in these matches once before, a 2-3 defeat by England in 1995.

PRINCE STARTS FOR CANADA
There are far fewer changes from Canada - in fact, just the one with Prince replacing Huitema from the side that lost 2-1 to the Netherlands in their final group game.

ASLLANI PASSED FIT
It's good news for Sweden as Asllani has made the starting line-up after withdrawing towards the end of the 2-0 defeat to USA in the final group game.
Peter Gerhadsson's side are not the most prolific side in the competition, and he makes wholesale changes after resting his core team.
Bjorn, Andersson and Ilestedt are replaced by Glas, Eriksson and Fischer in defence, while Rubensson and Girelli return in midfield in place of Olme and Jakobsson.
Schough drops to the bench as Rolfo starts alongside Asllani.
