And there is the full-time whistle. It has not been the Spain we are used to, but they have got their ninth win from ten games in Group G. Julen Lopetegui will not be overwhelmed by this display, but their excellent record goes on in qualifiers!
Isco tries one too many twists and turns as he tries to get past Keltjens in the box. Calls for a handball too with the Israel man on the floor but nothing is given.
THREE minutes of added time.
That's the Spain we're used to seeing! But the flag is up to deny Asensio from scoring their second. It's a typically intricate passing move, but as it's rolled over for Asensio to tap in, the flag goes up. He had no need to be offside either!
Meandering towards the full-time whistle then. Just the Illarramendi screamer which separates the two sides. A disappointing game.
You look around this Spain side and wonder who is actually guaranteed a place on the plane for Russia. Few will have worked their way into the starting XI plans. But there are plenty of months to go before we get serious about the World Cup proper.
Natcho over the Israel free-kick out wide. But his cross is blocked by Isco and Spain look to counter... No dice though as Aspas runs into a brick wall.
My heart is somewhat broken as I have to say there was a slight deflection on that shot from Illarramendi, but only visible after the umpteenth replay. As you were then, football is a lie, there is no joy left.
I thank you, Mr. Illarramendi. For after 76 miutes of turgid football, you have produced a moment of magic. It's a stunner. There's no two ways about it. Could be some way to seal a ninth win this campaign for Spain.
- GoalAsier IllarramendiSpain
WHAT A PEACH FROM ILLARRAMENDI!
A goal that defies the game it featured in. It's a simply stunning half-volley from Illarramendi from 25 yards out. A corner is headed out and falls into his path, he lines up the shot and hits it perfectly into the top corner. Brilliant technique.
- OnJosé CallejónSpain
And now Pedro, who had the best chance of the match to date, heads off...
Quite easily the biggest cheer of the night as Benayoun comes on. Almost beating the one he got before the match when collecting his trophy to celebrate 100 caps for Isreal!
- OffEliran AtarIsrael
- OnYossi BenayounIsrael
And here is the former Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool man!
Isco sizes this one up... Can he work the goalkeeper? He can't. It's into the Israel wall.
Israel go on the counter with Ben Chaim, but his cross cannot find Hemed in the middle. Looks like Benayoun will be coming on for the hosts!
Nice turn from Aspas and he works himself some space in the Israel box, but he can't find a man in white. Israel go on the attack, but Spain win it back and Isco is brought down 25 yards out or so... Big chance this.
Some nice touches already from Isco. A ball comes over the top for Aspas, who attempts the spectacular, but his overhead kick attempt fails to connect. Nice try at least.
- OffMaruwan KabhaIsrael
- OnNir BittonIsrael
Another sub for the hosts as Bitton makes his way onto the field of play.
- OffAritz AdurizSpain
And that's Aduriz's evening over. In comes Isco, who has five goals so far this campaign. Hopefully he can produce a moment of magic for us!
CHANCE! What a bizarre moment this is! It looks like Asensio was offside but play goes on, and his low ball into the middle is not met by Aduriz, despite the forward appearing to be right there to tuck it away!
Asensio is within a whisker of beating the offside trap which would have put him through on goal but alas the flag goes up.
Spain playing well within themselves. Top is wrapped up, and perhaps the players have the weekend on their minds as they head back to their respective clubs.
And as we do indeed the hour-mark it remains 0-0! Spain 30 minutes away from another unbeaten qualification campaign, but it hasn't been enjoyable to watch tonight!
Corner for Spain, Asensio sends it in but Keltjens heads away. Poor ball in from the Real Madrid man. Sums up the first hour or so!
- OffMaor MeliksonIsrael
- OnTal Ben Haim IIIsrael
Early sub this second half for Israel as Melikson heads off.
And send it in they do... Which isn't always the case with Spain, but it's headed clear. Still Spain remain on the attack though, but a cross from Monreal down the left is too strong and bounces out.
- Yellow cardOfir DavidzadaIsrael
Illarramendi and Viera enjoying plenty of the ball ahead of Busquets, but at times the final ball has not quite come off. Davidzada is shown yellow for a late challenge and it's a chance for Spain to send one in...
Not the smoothest of Spain showings it has to be said, but after making 10 changes, it can hardly be a surprise. Cue Spain goal in 3... 2... 1...
Israel actually enjoying a good spell of possession. That will only frustrate the visitors more, who are looking to finish the campaign with nine wins and a draw.
- OffSergio RamosSpain
- OnIago AspasSpain
Half-time sub to tell you of, with Iago Aspas coming on for Sergio Ramos!
- 2nd Half
Right then. We're back underway in Israel. Let's hope for an improved 45 minutes! Spain came close on a number of occasions, with Pedro in particular guilty of a big missed chance!
- End of 1st Half
The corner is cleared by Spain and that's the end of the first half!
Asensio darts into the box and looks to play it across for Viera but he can't quite find his intended target. Moments later Israel have a corner after a dangerous ball across the box is played out.
SAVE!! Oh Pedro how have you missed this? The striker is played through on goal and it's a one on one with the 'keeper, but Harush gets down to keep it out!
Five minutes to go in the first half then. Just Ramos' chance of note really. Aduriz did have an opportunity to lob the keeper but it didn't quite come off.
Well perhaps this goal won't come before half-time then. It has been a resolute showing from Israel so far.
Looks to be a case of when not if in this half as Spain just up the tempo a bit. Sending balls into the box and pushing further and further up. This time a cross is just ahead of Aduriz.
SAVE! This is as close as Spain have come! And it's Ramos with a shot to nothing from 25 yards out. It looks to be dipping in, and Harush does well to tip it over for a corner, which comes to nothing for the visitors.
Pass after pass from Spain but they cannot get past the Israel defence so far. It's as defensive an approach as they come really.
Asensio enjoying plenty of the ball so far as we edge towards the half-hour mark. He's the only one really looking to make something happen.
CLOSE! No one gets near Illarramendi as he carries it to the edge of the box. His eventual shot is blocked and goes flying into the night sky, but as it comes down Aduriz is unable to loop his header over Harush in the Israel goal.
Essentially a back six from Israel when Spain are on the ball. The hosts have rarely made it out of their own half, but that doesn't mean the visitors are prone to being countered.
Asensio down the left for Spain, looking it take it forward when he can. But there's not much going on ahead of him and back they go.
A change of body direction in the blink of an eye sees Asensio turn his man and his cross is deflected out for a corner. Ramos tries to meet it but it's headed away.
Moments later, Viera shoots just over from 25 yards out.
Sooo... Waiting for a real chance to report! The pace as I have mentioned has been desperately slow, and neither keeper has been tested with 19 minutes gone. It'll no doubt pick up, but this game very much has the feel of nothing on the line.
Spain park themselves outside the Israel box. Viera plays it back for Busquets, but his ball over the top does not find Asensio and it bounces out for a goal-kick.
Spain have set the tempo early on in Israel, but let's just say that's not exactly a fast one. Israel have looked pretty strong when they do have the ball, only problem is that hasn't been all too often.
Asensio finds Monreal but he's unable to get it into the box. A good chance to cross it in but the Arsenal left-back just couldn't get it out of his feet.
Brilliant defensive work from Kabha, who breaks down a Spanish attack before jinking past a couple of players. He is floored though and doesn't get a free-kick.
Azpilicueta gets towards to byline for Spain but Ben Haim makes a vital interception. Down the other end Natcho tries to find Melikson but his ball over is just too strong.
Israel venture forward and a dangerous cross is turned around for corner. Natcho (not Nacho, or Nacho Monreal), but Natcho of Israel takes it, but it's Sergio Ramos who heads clear.
Having made 10 changes, Spain still look slick out there, with some nice passing so far. But as mentioned, they're content with passing it around.
First chance of the game falls for Asensio, who will be looking to impress tonight, but nothing comes of it.
As you would expect, Spain already dominating possession. Happy to play it round without any rush, not like they have to rush anyway!
- 1st Half
Slight delay in kick-off but we are finally underway!
DEBUT FOR VIERA
AWARD FOR YOSSI
Ahead of kick-off, former Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Yossi Benayoun is given a trophy to celebrate 100 caps, which he achieved a couple games ago.
Great one to remember in quiz question is Yossi.
David de Gea and Isco were the only other two Spaniards on the list. A tad harsh maybe? It's a strong list. No room for the likes of Andres Iniesta or Sergio Busquets.
Whole host of Spanish stars missing then, but there is one Ballon d'Or nominee out there in Sergio Ramos.
Check the full 30-man shortlist here.
ITALY FALL SHORT
So Italy will head to the play-offs after coming second best to Spain. They could have at least put the pressure on the Spaniards this evening, but a 1-1 draw at home to Macedonia put an end to that.
So it's a much-changed Spain side given that they're already through. Pepe Reina comes in as goalkeeper, Sergio Ramos retains his place. Nacho replaces the suspended Gerard Pique.
Arsenal's Nacho Monreal is also given a run-out, as is Marco Asensio, Aritz Aduriz and Pedro!
Spain XI: Reina, Azpilicueta, Nacho, Ramos, Monreal, Illarramendi, Busquets, Asensio, Viera, Aduriz, Pedro
Israel XI: Harush, Ben Haim, Davidzada, Tibi, Keltjens, Kabha, Cohen, Natcho, Atar, Hemed, Melikson
Alright one and all. It's time for some World Cup Qualifier action.
We have reached the final round of fixtures in Group G, and although Spain have already qualified, they will be looking to finish in style.
