- 1st Half
A dreadful, dirge chorus of 'God Save The Queen' completed and we are off in Trnava. England in their away kit of red shirts and shorts and blue socks, Slovakia are all in white.
England midfielder Adam Lallana says he will not be happy with anything less than three points from the match. England have a superb in their last two qualification campaigns, for the 2014 World Cup and Euro 2016. Over the 20 matches, the Three Lions racked up 16 wins and four draws, with 62 goals scored and just seven conceded. "We definitely need to win on Sunday. We put the most pressure on ourselves to win games," he said. "We know we are a very talented group of lads and it's been important to get some good training in this week."
Sam Allardyce on ITV1 on his captain Wayne Rooney - an odd thing to say? Putting the pressure on his skipper to perform? Judge for yourself..."I don’t need to tell Wayne Rooney how to play. He knows where to go, when to go. I’d like to see him assist or score a goal today if he can."
The only England manager to lose his first game was Sir Alf Ramsey in 1963. The last England boss not to win his first match was Sir Bobby Robson, who oversaw a 2-2 Euro 1984 qualifier draw against Denmark in September 1982.
Interestingly, in his first big TV interview since taking the job, Allardyce had told ITV1 that he wants the Premier League to introduce a winter break. "The one thing I would change is the introduction of a winter break. If it is wrong why does everybody else do it – why don't we?" he said.
England's last defeat in a qualifying game came in 2009 when Fabio Capello's side lost 1-0 to Ukraine in a 2010 World Cup qualifier in Dnipropetrovsk.

Under Kovak, Slovakia, a nation with a population the size of Scotland, have beaten Germany, Ukraine and Spain and reached the last 16 of the European Championships in France.
Wayne Rooney is now second in the all-time England appearance list - just goalkeeper Peter Shilton's 125-cap mark to catch now.
Slovakia coach Kozak omitted the experienced Jan Mucha, Miroslav Stoch, Vladimir Weiss and Stanislav Sestak for the qualifier, while AC Milan midfielder Juraj Kucka misses out after being unable to take part in full training, and uncapped defender Jakub Holubek is sidelined with an ankle injury.
It is a bright and sunny day in Trnava, by the way. Quite high temperatures at the moment, but it will of course get cooler as the evening goes on.
Slovakia, ranked 24th in the world, played out a goalless draw with England in the group stages of the European Championship in France and have lost just once in 14 international matches on home soil.
Slovakia manager Jan Kovak has made five changes from the side that lost 3-0 to Germany in the Euro 2016 Round of 16 in Lille on 26 June. In come Marseille defender Tomas Hubocan, FC Copenhagen midfielder Jan Gregus, Dusan Svento of Sparta Prague and Zilina's Viktor Pecovsky, and Zenit's Robert Mak for Norbert Gyomber, Patrik Hrosovsky, Milan Skriniar, Juraj Kucka and Vladimir Weiss.
Allardyce says he would be happy with a draw against Slovakia, the highest-ranked opponents in a group that also includes Scotland, Slovenia, Lithuania and Malta. "Winning is what we want. If the nation thinks that's the only thing we can have to make us feel better, we'll try," he said. "But personally, if we get a draw from the most difficult game of the group, I'll be happy."
Captain Wayne Rooney, who overtakes David Beckham's record of 115 appearances to become England's most capped outfield player, plays in the withdrawn No 10 role behind Tottenham striker Harry Kane.
England manager Sam Allardyce named his side on Friday and selected eight players who started the humiliating Euro 2016 defeat to Iceland in June. Manchester City's £47.5m defender John Stones will partner Gary Cahill in central defence, while Jordan Henderson replaces Dele Alli in midfield and Adam Lallana comes in for Liverpool team-mate Daniel Sturridge on the right flank.
