World Cup Qualification UEFA / Matchday 9
Wembley / 12.11.2021
England kind of sleptwalked through the second half but it shouldn't take away from a fantastic first half which coupled with Albania's frailties put the game away very early indeed. Thanks for following the match with us.
A lovely period of play with Bellingham showing exquisite feet then linking with Alexander who sets free Smith Rowe, who passes to Abraham, but the Roma striker could not find a team-mate.
Smith Rowe plays in Grealish on the left and he shoots at goal but it is deflected wide off Mihaj.
Smith Rowe drives to the edge of the Albanian area and then falls to the ground but doesn't win a free kick.
Alexander-Arnold replaces James and Smith Rowe comes on for his England debut in place of Sterling.
James with a deep cross to the back post which Grealish meets with a cross shot which Strakosha parries away.
Laci goes for an overhead kick and manages to kick Stones who clashed heads with James. Both England players are on the deck and the Albanian gets a yellow card.
Kane leaves the field. He is a bit disappointed but it is probably for the best. Abraham replaces him. Grealish is on for Foden and Bellingham for Phillips.
Dermaku lucky not to get a yellow card for a foul on Kane.
Sterling gets around Ismajili but the defender does well to perfectly time a slide tackle. A few inches away and he would have been off.
Lovely ball from henderson to find Kane 20 yards out from goal but he shoots high and far from handsomely over the bar.
Cikalleshi shoots from 25 yards but straight at Pickford.
Two more changes for Albania at the break. Mihaj is on for Trashi and Ramadani for Bajrami.
England get the second half underway...
What a half from England. What a deplorable effort from Albania.
GOAL FOR ENGLAND! It's FIVE. And another England hat-trick for Kane. He gets beyond his marker Demarku at the back post and launches into a scissor kick which deflects off the defender en route to the top corner.
Almost an own goal as Sterling again dinked a ball towards Kane but Hysaj got in the way and almost headed into his own net.
Another chance for Kane. This time James crosses from the right and Kane dives in front of the centre back but heads just wide of the target.
Sterling again behind the defence and tries to find Kane in the centre with a square ball but easily cleared.
Kane should have made it three. Incredibly he was free on the right hand side of the area and Sterling finds him with a clipped ball but he stabs his half-volley wide of the far post.
