90+6'

And that's full-time!

A huge, huge win for Nigeria and they are alive and kicking in this World Cup.

90+6'

No they won't!

The captain is back on. That seems rash but you have to admire his guts.

90+5'

Mikel is in a lot of pain as he comes off here, this is sad to see.

No more changes for Nigeria so they'll finish with ten.

90+4'

This doesn't look good for Mikel. He's clutching his wrist and it looks as if it could be nasty. Nigerian fans will be hoping he isn't ruled out of the Argentina game.

90+2'

We're through two minutes of six added on. Iceland will now have to regroup and look to the final game against Croatia.

90'

Last change for Nigeria as Etebo comes off for Iwobi.

88'

Chance for Iceland as a clever pass finds Finnbogason but his shot is comfortably saved by Uzoho.

85'

Change for Nigeria as Iheanacho comes off for Ighalo

83'

OVER!

Wow. Gylfi Sigurdsson has blazed his penalty over the bar.

You do not see that often.

81'

PENALTY!

Finnbogason was the player who went over Ebuehi and it is a penalty.

80'

VAR ALERT

Iceland are furious as they think they should have a penalty and it is going to be checked.

78'

Right all of a sudden Iceland are in a bit of a pickle.

They're going to be third in the group and needing to beat leaders Croatia in their last game.

75'

GOAL! NIGERIA 2-0 ICELAND (MUSA)

Oh that is just magnificent! Having just hit the bar Musa changes down a clearance, beats Arnason, skips past Halldórsson and fires home.

74'

BAR!

Terrific effort from Musa from the edge of the area. It's swerving and dipping and beats Halldórsson. Luckily for the Iceland keeper it rattles the bar.

72'

Another great ball in from Nigeria from a corner (another improved aspect of their game in this half) and Balogun heads narrowly over.

71'

Another Iceland change.

Sigurdarson on for Bodvarsson

70'

A Nigeria corner is cleared but it comes back in and Ekong nearly heads it in.

67'

This has been pretty poor from Iceland since the goal. Nigeria have been in control and Iceland look short of ideas.

65'

Ragnar Sigurdsson is having to go off here. Probably for the best in that situation.

Sverrir Ingi Ingason is on in his place.

63'

Dangerous free-kick for Iceland here on the right hand side. Maybe favours a left foot but when your right is as good as Sigurdsson's...

It's not great and Uzoho claims well.

62'

Nigeria look to have switched to more of a back three and it certainly looks better, as it did against England.

59'

Iceland are trying to respond here but for now Nigeria are holding firm. Still over 30 minutes to go though...

57'

A well-hit effort from Ndidi takes a wicked deflection and Halldórsson does well to tip it over.

56'

Iceland are furious and want a penalty for the hand ball in the box but the referee is having none of it.

55'

A great stat for Musa.

54'

Well the physios seem happy that there's no concussion so after a change of shirt he will continue.

53'

Bit of concern for Ragnar Sigurdsson here. He was caught in the head when trying to block Musa's goal and has been down since.

He has a bandage on his head but I'm not sure he should be staying on...

51'

That goal gets better and better every time you watch it back, a truly brilliant team effort.

They dealt well with the throw and then countered ruthlessly.

  • Ahmed Musa
GoalAhmed MusaNigeriaGOAL! NIGERIA 1-0 ICELAND (AHMED MUSA) Lift-off for Nigeria! They've started so well in this half and they get their goal. They break from an Iceland throw, Moses clips the ball into Musa who takes it out of the air and slams it home. Wonderful, wonderful goal.

GOAL! NIGERIA 1-0 ICELAND (AHMED MUSA)

Lift-off for Nigeria! They've started so well in this half and they get their goal.

They break from an Iceland throw, Moses clips the ball into Musa who takes it out of the air and slams it home.

Wonderful, wonderful goal.

46'

Positive start from Nigeria as there's an early shot form just outside of the box.

Nothing doing but a better start.

46'

Welcome back.

We have a sub to tell you about. Ebuehi is on to replace Idowu.

No changes for Iceland and we're under way

45+2'

And that's a great chance!

The corner finds a free Icelandic head but it goes back across goal and it will be half-time. A decent game thus far with Iceland on top, room for improvement after the break.

45+1'

Excellent cross from Saevarsson that nearly finds a man but it goes behind for a corner.

45'

Wonderful ball from Sigurdsson and it's hard to know how that hasn't gone in.

Finnbogason nearly gets his head on it and that is probably the closest Iceland have come.

44'

Idowu is the first player into the referee's book today and Sigurdsson will fire in a free-kick from the right.

43'

Moses wins a corner as his cross is deflected. Moments before that Halldórsson tried to shepherd the ball out but was fouled from behind.

The corner goes straight out from Iheanacho, whose set-pieces have been disappointing.

41'

Another chance for Iceland as Bjarnason gets in behind but his cross can't find a team-mate and Nigeria can clear.

40'

Moses breaks well and the ball is worked to Ndidi but his cross is aimless and Iceland regain possession.

38'

Nigeria free-kick in a good position down the right, Iheanacho stands over it to swing it in with his left foot.

It doesn't clear the first man but it goes behind for a throw.

36'

Saevarsson sends in a delicious cross that nearly finds an Icelandic player but Balogun does brilliantly to head it away.

Magnússon takes the throw...

34'

Ball gets swung in from the right and eventually it breaks to Bjarnason who swings and sends it over.

33'

Something to keep an eye on here, Gunnarsson hasn't taken the last couple of throws in positions that you would think would be in his range.

Maybe it's that knock to the ribs he received in an earlier challenge.

31'

Lovely touch from Iheanacho as he lifts the ball over Sigurdsson, who absolutely clatters him and Nigeria will have a free-kick.

28'

Iceland are starting to sit a little deeper as well having pushed hard up the pitch in the opening stages.

25'

We're just over half way through the first half and Nigeria have to be pretty pleased with their efforts so far.

They've looked more organised than against Croatia and dangerous on the counter.

22'

And he comes flying out and manages to punch the ball on to Moses for another corner that Nigeria clear.

21'

Uzoho has to be alert to tip over a cross and Iceland will have another corner.

18'

Nigeria have a go at a long throw of their own but Iceland deal with it comfortably.

16'

Little bit of pinball in the Iceland box but Nigeria can't capitalise as Iceland deal with multiple balls into the box.

14'

Here we go. First long throw of the game from Gunnarsson. Nigeria just about cope with it even though they don't win the first header.

13'

The thunderclap has begun, it's echoing around the stadium now.

Doesn't matter how many times it gets done it's always impressive.

12'

Gíslason has come in for Berg Gudmundsson and like his opposite winger Bjarnason he has a truly stupendous head of hair.

9'

Of course it is the first time that this kit is being shown off at the World Cup.

Superb.

The Nigeria players pose for a team photo prior to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia group D match between Nigeria and Iceland at Volgograd Arena on June 22, 2018 in Volgograd, Russia.
7'

A big switch finds Moses on the right and wins a corner off Magnússon

6'

Another chance for Sigurdsson!

Iceland break really well, not for the first time, and the ball is played into the path of Sigurdsson. He tries to curl it into the net but it's comfortable for Uzoho.

4'

And the Nigerian keeper comes out well to claim the corner, good start from Uzoho

3'

It's a good effort but Uzoho does well to watch it and tip it over.

2'

Early free-kick for Iceland.

Danger man Sigurdsson stands over it, this is well within his range.

1'

Right we're under way!

Your referee today is Matt Conger.

Right the players are out and it's time for the anthems.

STAT ATTACK

A good omen for Nigeria?

SET-PIECE THREAT

This game could be decided by set-pieces.

Nigeria have struggled recently in that sense whereas Iceland are extremely well organised, and a pose a dangerous threat from the long throw.

Iceland's midfielder Aron Gunnarsson attends a press conference at Volgograd Arena in Volgograd on June 21, 2018, on the eve of their Russia 2018 World Cup Group D football match against Nigeria.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

This is the second time these two countries have met.

They played against each other in a friendly in 1981 with Iceland winning 3-0.

LAST TIME OUT

It was a difficult start to the World Cup for the Super Eagles as they were beaten 2-0 by group leaders Croatia, although that result looks a little better after Argentina was dismantled 3-0 last night.

However this is crunch time now, Nigeria have to avoid defeat tonight otherwise they will be out.

LAST TIME OUT

Last time out Iceland answered those critics who had suggested they may be found out at the World Cup after their heroics in France two years ago.

They defended resolutely against Argentina and kept Lionel Messi out of the game, taking their goal well when it came. This game against Nigeria should be a chance for them to be a bit more expansive.

Iceland's forward Alfred Finnbogason (R) celebrates after scoring a goal

NIGERIA TEAM NEWS

Meanwhile for Nigeria there are three changes as Gernot Rohr responds to the disappointing 2-0 defeat to Croatia.

Omeruo replaces Shehu at right-back, Musa comes in for Iwobi out wide and Iheanacho is preferred to Ighalo up front.

ICELAND TEAM NEWS

There's two changes for Iceland from the heroic 1-1 draw against Argentina in their opening game and their attacking ones.

Berg Gudmundsson comes out for Gíslason whilst Hallfredsson drops out for Bödvarsson who goes to partner Finnbogason up front. Sigurdsson drops in to midfield.
