FULL TIME!

Senegal have done it! They become the first African nation to win a game at this year's World Cup - and how they deserved it.

Their two strikes may have been fortunate but they showed more endeavour to win the game and even when Poland were trailing by two-goals they didn't play with enough urgency to get back into the contest.

90'+1

N'Diaye is off his line to collect the corner delivery and take the pressure off Senegal. Can they withstand Poland's pressure for the remainder?

90'

FOUR minutes will be added on! And what's this? Poland have a corner?!

89'

Senegal win a corner - they have it where they want it. They will take their time with this set-piece.

87'

It was the first time Poland have delivered a decent cross into the box and now they have a fighting chance to grabbing a point. Three minutes of normal time to play...

Somehow, someway Poland are back in the game with four minutes to play!

Grosick's free-kick delivery is headed in by Krychowiak and Poland have a goal back... or do they? It's gone to VAR, was it offside? No! It's going to count!

85'

NO PENALTY!

The referee has had a good look and decides there wasn't any foul.

Strong appeals for a Senegal penalty as Sarr goes down inside the box under the challenge of Rybus... and the referee is consulting with VAR!

It's a comfortable save for N'Diaye as he gathers Kownacki's downward header.

You can't top that!

69'

WIDE!

It's Poland's best passage of play, but they fail to make it count. Piszczek drills a low cross from the right to Milik but his first-time effort at the near post fails to find the target.

66'

And now Poland waste a corner. Shocking performance.

64'

Social media is asking how Poland are ranked eighth in the world and on this performance it is quite baffling.

63'

There was a hint of controversy about Senegal's goal - Niang sprinted back on to the field of play after an injury, intercepting the backpass from midfield.

And now Poland have an absolute mountain to climb. Lewandowski has been starved of service for most of the evening and the manager needs to find a way for his star man to become more involved.

56'

WIDE!

Rybus' deep cross to the back post is dying to be finished by Piszczek but he seemed to be lacking in belief as he side-foots the ball wide of the goal.

54'

Lewandowski trying desperately to make something happen for Poland but loses out to Sarr on the left side of the box and then proceeds to foul the Senegal player in a bid to retrieve the ball.

53'

The game is starting to open up a little thankfully, after a drab first-half.

52'

BLOCK!

Sabaly paces down the left channel and cuts it back to Mane who arrives late in the box... but his first-time effort is well charged down by Pazdan. Great defending.

50'

GOOD SAVE!

Lewandowski steps up to take the free-kick which is in a central position, around 25 yards out... he curls it up and over the wall but N'Diaye is at full stretch to push it behind for a corner.

HALF-TIME

The referee signals the end of a rather low-key first-half.

It has been far from a classic but Senegal will be satisfied with their one-goal lead which they hold courtesy of Thiago Cionek's own-goal seven minutes before the break.

Poland have it all to do and must improve.

45'

Two minutes will be added on at the end of the first-half.

42'

SANE SHOULD SCORE!

Niang's corner delivery finds the unmarked Sane but the centre-back can only head it into the ground and watch the ball bounce over Szczensy's goal.

41'
40'

And that means the first round of group stage games have all seen at least one goal scored.

39'

Senegal have scarcely threatened but now they have the lead and I'm just thankful a goal has been scored because the game was crying out for it. Now, what have Poland got in their locker?

35'

Sarr is caught by the high foot of Krychowiak and is in some pain. He should be fit to continue, though he will require treatment.

33'

Better from Senegal as they work it into a wide area and get players forward in the penalty area. Niang's cross seeks out Mane, Poland desperately try and fail to clear, but the Liverpool forward is offside.

31'

Ally McCoist feels both sides are showing too much respect to each other, making it a rather cagey contest and it's hard to disagree. There hasn't been any real excitement in the first-half, no talking points. Let's hope it improves.

30'

Rybus races on to a long ball over the top but N'Diaye, who has barely touched the ball in Senegal's goal, is quicker to the chase and gathers comfortably.

27'

His name is difficult to spell but Blaszczykowski has been a great servant for Poland over the years.

26'

The Poland supporters are mixing in and really enjoying the dancing and singing in the Senegal stand. That's what football should be all about - isn't it?

25'

It's been a rather even contest thus far, with little goalmouth action to really talk about. That can all change in a second though and there are plenty of quality players on show with the potential to produce a moment of magic.

23'

Lewandowski controls on the chest, swivels and scuffs a volley wide of goal. Blaszczykowski felt he was fouled in the build-up but the referee was well positioned and signalled play on.

21'

Sorry about another post on Senegal supporters but I couldn't help myself - what a great photo.

20'

OVER!

Krychowiak's mis-connects with a shot but it falls for Milik, who is just about onside, but he can't keep his header down.

18'

POOR FINISH!

Sabaly breaks from a deep lying midfield area, running into space before threading a lovely through-pass into the path of Niang. But from a decent position, the Senegal forward drags his shot well, well wide.

16'

They're vastly outnumbered by the Poland supporters but the Senegal fans are making themselves heard out there.

15'

Sarr has pace to burn and he accelerates to drive Senegal forward but then throws himself to ground after minimal contact from Rybus and hopelessly looks up to the referee in a half-hearted appeal for a penalty. Nothing given.

13'

Oh dear! From 35 yards out, it's a desperately disappointing free-kick attempt by Sane as he side-foots his weak effort miles wide of Szczensy's goal. Schoolboy stuff there.

YELLOW CARD!

Krychowiak is the first player of the afternoon to be issued with a booking for a foul on Niang who has looked increasingly dangerous for Senegal.

11'

Mane drops deep to receive the ball in space but his through-pass to a team mate is over-cooked and rolls harmlessly to Szczesny.

9'

The left side of Poland's defence has clearly been identified as a weakness by their opponents as Senegal come forward once more. This time Niang's cross is cleared by Rybus who did well to leap higher than Sarr.

8'

Senegal are having some joy down the left channel and again it's Niang who delivers a low cross, but Szczesny is off his line quickly to take control of the situation and gather.

7'

Senegal's first corner of the afternoon is easily dealt with as Niang's delivery is headed clear at the near post.

There was plenty of pushing and shoving in the penalty area - and that's something for the referee to keep an eye on during the course of this match.

5'

Rybus dinks a pass into the path of Grosicki who drills a cross in from the by-line but Senegal are alert to the danger and clear their lines.

4'
3'

Poland are knocking the ball around comfortably in defence and midfield as they try to settle into a rhythm.

2'

Poland, eighth in the world, start as favourites as these two nations face each other for the first time ever.

KICK-OFF!

Off we go then...

15:55

Right then, here comes the teams. Who else is looking forward to this one?

There appears to be plenty of Poland supporters at the Otkrytie Arena, but green shirts are few and far between.

15:50

The Senegal supporters sure are enjoying themselves in Moscow this afternoon, but will they still be smiling at the final whistle? We are only 10 minutes away from today's second World Cup match of the day. Isn't all of this football just wonderful?

-
15:45

Senegal qualified for the World Cup with minimal fuss, winning four and drawing one of their six games in the third stage of African qualifying.

Meanwhile, Poland won their qualifying group ahead of Denmark and Montenegro, winning eight matches.

15:40

It is pretty disrespectful to forget the other 20 starting players but in truth the success of these respective nations rest on the shoulder's of Lewandowski and Mane.

-

Sixteen years ago, is it really sixteen years ago since Senegal beat France? Wow.

15:35

Slaven Bilic is on ITV duty and believes Senegal are the strongest African nation. His opinion is difficult to argue with, really. They have some quality players - I have already discussed their attack, but Senegal also possess a solid defence, led by Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly.

15:30

STATS

This is Poland's eighth World Cup, but their first appearance since 2006. They last reached the knockout stages in 1986, failing to advance from the group stages in each of their last two appearances (2002 and 2006).

Senegal were unbeaten in their only previous group phase appearance at the World Cup (W1 D2), which included a victory in the opening game against defending champions France (1-0).

15:25

Poland striker Lewandowski: "I played less games this season, which means I'm less tired. I hope this freshness will show.

"This time the preparations have been personalised, catered to what an individual player needs.

"I am not sure how many good opportunities I will have. But when I am doubled up on and fouled, it frees up space for my team-mates and we'd like to take advantage of this."

"I want my hunger for goals to be even bigger and bigger. And of course I hope more goals will come on the biggest stage - the World Cup."

Robert Lewandowski (Poland vs. Chile)
15:20

Senegal coach Aliou Cisse: "Sadio Mane is a unique player and he cannot be compared to any other Senegal player, even the major ones we've had in the past.

"And despite everything that has happened for him over the last two years, he hasn't changed - he's just as humble as he was when I first met him at the 2012 Olympics.

"Senegal isn't only Sadio Mane, though, he has a good team built around him and I think it should be a little plus for him that we're all behind him."

Senegal's Sadio Mane (L) vies for the ball withBosnia's Edin Visca (R) during an international friendly football match between Senegal and Bosnia at the Stadium Oceane in Le Havre, northwestern France on March 27, 2018.
15:15

Sadio Mane is very much Senegal's star player and the Liverpool forward comes into the World Cup on the back of a hugely impressive season, scoring 20 goals for the Merseysiders, including 10 in the Champions League.

Former Birmingham City player Aliou Cisse is the manager tasked with trying to replicate the nation's success in 2002 when they reached the quarter-finals after beating France in the group stage.

15:10

Poland's talisman Robert Lewandowski leads the line, with the Bayern Munich forward hoping to inspire his team mates to glory. He netted only once at Euro 2016 but the 29-year-old insists he feels fresher this time around. He is supported in midfield by Napoli's Piotr Zieliński who has been touted as the next big thing.

Kamil Glik is the nation's rock in defence but Poland will have to do without the Monaco player this afternoon as he continues to recover from a shoulder injury.
