And that’s your lot. What a great day – difficult weather and a great drive from Hamilton and Ricciardo.

Yup, the Brit takes it with a time of 1:44.231. So that sees Ricciardo into second and Rosberg third. Ricciardo was on the intermediates while the Mercedes were on full wets.

Albert Park roars Ricciardo round and he takes provisional pole with a 1:44.548 but Hamilton is still flying round. Can Hamilton steal it from the home race?

Hamilton moves to the top of the timesheets with a 1:45.335 – before Rosberg hits the front but Hamilton has one last flying lap.

Nico Hulkenberg of Force India in the intermediates sits in fourth with a 1:46.834 – what a drive from the German.

Rosberg makes it a Mercedes one-two with a 1:45.550 as Alonso changes from intermediates to full wets.

Hamilton is top with a 1:45.335 as home hope Ricciardo sits in second with a time of 1:46.107.

Kvyat goes seventh with a 1:44.331 with both Toro Rosso drivers in the top ten shoot out.

Rosberg continues his good form with a time of 1:42.264 to lead the timesheets.

Alonso on the intermediates while everyone else is on full wets.

Q3 underway with the rain now tipping down.

Rosberg was quickest in the middle of all that madness with Vettel’s teammate Ricciardo in second and Alonso third.

Button, Raikkonen, Vettel, Sutil, Kobayashi and Perez fail to make Q3.

Vettel only makes 12th – he fails to make the top ten due to that crash. Button also out. Incredible.

Raikkonen into the wall and the yellow flags are out – Vettel could miss out on the top ten now.

Vettel languishing in 12th following a 1:47.261 as gets a fresh set of tyres on.

Button, who always excels at Albert Park, scuttles round in a time of 1:44.437 to make a Brit one-two at the top of the sheets but Ricciardo supersedes that almost immediately with a 1:44.031. Track beginning to dry out now.

Scrap that! Hamilton goes fastest with a time of 1:44.662; while teammate Rosberg is in second with a 1:44.938.

Bottas, who, of course, has that five-place grid penalty, goes quickest with 1:45.689 as the Mercedes struggle to show any kind of wet weather pace.

Ricciardo is again at the head of the timesheets with a time of 1:46.646 – Hamilton makes a 1:47.556 while Jenson Button’s 1:48.950 sees him into 10th.

Lots of spray on the track following that shower meaning that the drivers are carefully navigating their way round.

Daniil Kvyat out on the full wets.

Q2 gets underway as the majority of racers – led by Felipe Massa – start with the intermediate compounds.

Of course these times will now zero but Chilton, Bianchi, Gutierrez, Ericsson, Grosjean and Maldonado are the men that miss out.

The rain looks to have confirmed our order for Q1.

Everyone is in the pits bar Gutierrez.

Maldonado spins into the gravel but manages to regain control of the car – Lotus have claimed to be a month behind in its preparations and it looks like he and teammate Romain Grosjean will fail to make Q2.

Alonso goes fourth with a time of 1:31.388 as the rain begins to get heavier.

The rain begins to trickle down as we enter the business end of Q1.

Maldonado yet to set a time and is the only driver not to do so – he is out on track now though.

Vettel clipped a wall on his lap there meaning he is 1.6 seconds down on his teammate.

A 1:32.109 sees Vettel into seventh.

Daniel Ricciardo goes quickest in his home GP with a 1:30.775 as Vettel comes out on the softs – that is the first time that has happened in quite some time. Team boss Christian Horner has said that the team’s aim is to get into Q3 – and the selection of softs lays bare Red Bull’s troubles this year.

Kevin Magnussen now goes fastest with a 1:30.949, Magnussen carries his good form from pre-season testing into the first weekend of the season.

The threat of rain has died but the drivers will have to deal with a wind of up to 35mph as Felipe Mass goes quickest on the soft tyres - 1:31.549 for the Brazilian.

The only driver not out on track in defending champion Seb Vettel.

Valtteri Bottas & Esteban Gutierrez have been given five-place grid penalties for changing their gearboxes in FP3, as a few cars get out early.

And we are off!

Mercedes appear to be the team to beat after Nico Rosberg was quickest in FP3 – this was of course after Lewis Hamilton had set the quickest time in FP2.
